humidity caught itself on the moss covered walls and added itself in the natural stench of the prison which released one of the most putrid smells one could ever witness in their life , something a wraith unable to register scent anymore would not give an ounce of care about. the cages were barely big enough for an adult to stand and merely wide enough for one to breath properly in. those who had been dragged to their misery wished the mist had devoured their soul already.

what is the goal of the dark star ? total oblivion , complete annihilation of all galaxies as we know which would mean that the universe itself would return to a state similar to how it was in the beginning of times : a simple , vast , emptiness. although this wanton destruction would erase the existence of the two contrast entities : the dark star and the first star as they are defined. the dark star and the first star are two entities bestowing fantastical powers to those they have chosen without them knowing said powers were closer to chains binding them to these two stars than anything else -- albeit it is something the herald is aware of knowing he comes from the dark star itself.

to understand how frightening it is to be in the dark star’s direct descendant’s presence you simply have to gaze at him with utmost scrutiny : at first , the sight of his embodiment seems blurry as if he was out of focus or too far away , then , after a few moments you will start to notice that the universe itself seems to begin to crumble and stumble around his form as if pulled towards a black hole.

the herald’s voice is not his but an amalgamation of several ones he stole from different celestial entities that he corrupted himself. they all speak together , overlapping one another chaotically , but also at different speeds at times which makes him extremely difficult to comprehend at times.

did the worth of a soul change depending on its death? did a painful and agonizing end serve to bring forth the hidden beauty hiding in the depths of one’s being or , on the contrary , was it a peaceful end that allowed them to shine? thresh thought both inquiry to be foolish for a soul had neither beauty or shine , its only worth being in how strong - willed it could be before irrevocably shattering under the weight of its own demons : such was the worth of a soul. the lantern lazily hovered near the warden’s side who called it forth into the cradle of his claws , filling the atmosphere with the song of the tormented , one which he adored.

how long as it been since that day where the cerulean sky turned pitch black and life turned to death? since the gift of this afterlife had been bestowed upon him , thresh had rarely taken a moment to count the days despite retaining memories of the exact moment life left him. the mist clung to the edges of his coat and killed anything near it ghosted over ; dead flowers , dead grass , much like where he hailed from. the warden’s position shifted , gaze drifting over a point in the ocean -- ionia , this island was called , had been touched by the same ghostly plague just like any other. an endless body of water could not change that.

water. thresh remembered the day the grieving king came looking for the purifying pond to resurrect his deceased wife by cutting down any that stood in his path ; the irony of attempting to bring one’s life back by costing others theirs had always amused thresh , it further did to this day knowing the attempt was futile and the king a fool. how old was the plague that cursed the lands of helia?

among the destruction that was once the room where the late emperor sat and gave audience to his people stood the herald of oblivion and his eyeless gaze pierced through the soul of the present sovereign and wondered if they were aware the sacrificed monarch had not known death as he should have but had been dragged in front of the dark star to witness its truth and become one with the oblivion it offered. the air was heavier , weighted down by dust and tension , covered in the distant cacophony of fire licking at constructions and terrorized screams. the dark stars had arrived suddenly , without a sound , and torn the entire empire apart.

‘ the end? ‘ it was as if multiple voices of different tones overlapped one another , leaving a terrifying echo ringing against the gutted walls. thresh’s countenance dipped to the side. ‘ this is barely the beginning our actions , barely a step in the entire orchestration. ‘ the herald brought himself dangerously close although he had not made any threatening motions yet , he had no need to.
