The girl laughed at her words, “Ugh, fine. I’ll just-” she started thinking and then immediately tried to take a sneaky shot, only getting caught. “Well,” she said, “It was worth a try!”
“Why are you randomly taking photos anyways? Is shots od surprised people just a new portfolio for you?”

He couldn’t help but raise his eyebrows at her words. “Wow, you’re blunt, aren’t you?” He chuckled, sitting beside her, “Definitely not gay, not even a little. Although, I’m guessing that you’re not asking that with innocent intentions.”
“I don’t have time to beat around the bush.” Malika smiled while she finished the drink she did have. “Oh no, I totally didn’t mean it like that. I was just taking a survey how many men are gay in a regular bar. So for the ratio is three to seven.”

“You seen my husband lately?”
“It’s been like maybe a week. We were actually supposed to meet up at the deli across the street, but he said he was running late so I was just going to meet him over here.”
Kairan had been working all day. Being surrounded by idiots who obviously knew nothing about politics made him wonder why he ever agreed to move back to LA. At least the people in Washington were competent. That was probably why he found himself drinking at a bar alone. It was kind of pathetic. After a few moments he decided that he needed to at least talk to someone so he didn’t feel like a loser. “Hey, let me buy you a drink so I can pretend I’m not considering drowning myself in whisky.”
Malika let out a small sigh before she turned her attention to the male. She perked up a little bit after seeing his face, maybe her night would get a little better. “I’m fine with that. You don’t happen to be gay right? I just need to know before I get my hopes up.”
“C’mon! I just want to start taking up photography. Let me take a picture of you!!!!”
“Girl, I’m gonna break the camera. Literally, like my face is not picture ready and it’s gonna shatter the lens.”
“So how bad do you think it is to eat a whole jar of peanut butter in approximately… three days?” The redhead wondered out loud, an awkward smile on her face as she finally stopped staring into empty space. Orion had always been a dreamer – a hopeless one, perhaps. Living in fantasy provided by books and films, in an attempt to keep her sanity as she dragged herself through life. She’d always been odd, had always been anxious and always been trying. She loved people, yet they terrified her, so she was usually locked away in her apartment, having only her cat as her company. But times like these, she craved contact. Human interaction. So she found herself saying something awkward, as usual. A slight blush appeared on her pale cheeks as she ducked her head, her hands fumbling with the hem of her top. “I’m asking for a friend.”
“My child goes through a jar of peanut butter in three hours, I think three days is fine. I can barely have any, I don’t like the way it makes my mouth feel.”
“I really don’t get what all the fuss is about with this book,” Adriana said, mostly to herself but a little to whoever was in earshot of her table in the coffee shop where she sat. “Christian Grey could do so much better than that Ana. She’s an absolute twit.”
“She is fucking annoying and like super plain Jane. He should have found someone as freaky as him, now that would be a book.” Malika put her input to the girl. “Also why are you just now reading that? Those came out like years ago.”
“This dumb nurse has been watching me for hours now, can you come back and like, say you’re my friend so I can have a break?”
“Yeah, suuure. If that okay with you.”
“I should have jut became a lawyer. Suits look so much better on me than scrubs.”
“Honestly the only thing you would look good in is a body bag.”

“What’s your favorite movie? Maybe I’ve seen it before.” He said with a smile. Watching as the praying mantis moved around on his hand he chuckled softly at the small girl. “Freddy might like me but he likes you more since your his owner.” Looking up at the woman he nodded, understanding where she was coming from even if he didn’t agree completely with it. “I think it’s more something you have a talk with the little one over here about than resorting to a leash. I’m not here to tell you how to parent though. You do whatever you need to keep you and your daughter safe, okay?” Turning back to the little girl he tapped her hand as he prepared to talk to her again. “You know you really scared your mommy running off like that? Can you promise me you’ll try not to ever do it again?”
“Nightmare on Elm Street.” She said casually. Malika let out a bit of a laugh, “I was joking, but yeah looks like I might have to have another talk with her.” Before Malika could really say anything else Joey was already doing that for her. “I promise, but just because--” She leaned in and whispered, “I know you really are a giant and you have powers.”

“Break it down!” Mel cheered, laughter spilling from her lips. “You go, girl!”
Malika danced closer to the girl, a few more inches and she would have practically been grinding on her. “I think we need more drinks.”

Kai flashed another smile at Kali and began to draw on her arm. “Yeah, I heard from all of them. Sounds like two of those meetings were eventful. I’m doing better, I just– There is some stuff we need to talk about.” He turned his attention to Kali, “Why did you pick Frankstien?”
Malika nodded in agreement. “Yeah a lot, now really isn’t the time, though” She looked over at Kali. “Can you meet up later this week and we will talk about it all.” Kali shrugged, “Cause he is one of my favorite monsters. And green. Green is my favorite color.”

“Shit sorry, Malika. I think I was just–” It was hard for him to continue talking. He took a drink from the water bottle. “In your neighborhood. You should probably start locking your car.” He nodded while taking another sip, “Yeah, I thought some girl was lost in the park. I wanted to help.”
“Usually in this nice neighborhood, I wouldn’t have to lock my car that’s parked in front of my house inside a locked gate. Speaking of? Did you jump my fucking gate?” She shook her head and opened the car door a little wider. “Get your white ass out my car. C’mon let’s go inside and look at the security footage, maybe if we are lucky you fell a couple of times.”

Finn smiled and kneeled down to the girl. He examined the bug on her hand and nodded approvingly. “Nice looking pet you have there. Where did you get the name Freddy from?” He held his hand out for the bug and looked up at Malika when she arrived. “It’s all good. She was just showing me here friend Freddy.”
“From the Nightmare on Elm Street. I love that movie!” The girl got a little excited as she handed over her bug to the police officer. “Are you a pig? Why is your shirt blue and not pink?” Kali asked while looking at his uniform. Malika quickly placed her hand over Kali’s mouth, “Kali! Hush!” She removed her hand and looked down at Finn, embarrassed. “I’m sorry. I have no idea where she gets that from. Probably television.”

Frankie turned when she heard the sound of running footsteps, before she smiled at the child. Frankie crouched down and held her hand out towards the girl. “Well hello Freddy.” Frankie said before she looked up at the women who appeared behind the girl. “No it’s fine.” Frankie said as she stood up. “I know what it’s like to run in heels.” Frankie said with a laugh.
Kali placed her hand next to the woman’s and waited for Freddy to crawl onto the other’s hand. “He says hi. I can read his mind.” The girl commented. Malika offered a smile to Frankie. “I’m glad someone does. I should really invest in some sandals or sneakers, though. Do you have a kid?”
