The Champion of Dragons

"Hey, no worries." Aaron said, offering the champion a handshake. "Well, I’d better get Heracross to a pokemon centre. It was a great battle, and hopefully we’ll be able to have another battle some time!" Shaking Lance’s hand, he started back for the nearest town and giving the champion a wave.

Lance waved back to him, "Good bye Aaron! I hope we meet again as well!" With that, Lance recalled Haxorus and headed off on his own way.

Break Time [we open]

"Oh you know, still living."

The champion gives the other a friendly hug and kiss on the cheek (as she does with all her friends) then returns to her spot on the bench. But as a sign that she does want his company, she picks up her tea and phone and scoots over a little to make room for Lance.

"If I knew you were coming, I would have picked up some tea for you as well. But I have some macaroons if you want."

Topping it off with her signature smile to make sure he can’t refuse.

Lance smiled at Cynthia, blushing slightly at the kiss on the cheek, and sat down next to her, "That's alright. And thank you." He took a macaroon, biting into it. "How's being Sinnoh champion treating you?"

"Whoa!" Aaron said softly, watching as Fraxure first began to glow, then grow until it stood much taller than before. It’s tusks were much larger as well as more blade shaped, and the green scales and skin were now an awe inspiring gold. It let out a prideful roar, Lance going up and congratulating it before approaching the Elite.

"Thank you for the battle Aaron. That was most enjoyable. You’ve trained your Heracross very well. I can see how you became a Sinnoh Elite Four Member."

Aaron couldn’t help but grin awkwardly at the praise, still berating himself a little for making some careless mistakes. “Thanks, Lance.” he said. “You’re a really strong trainer too… wait a sec.” The Elite paused, frowning at Lance. Suddenly he clicked his fingers, almost wanting to slap his forehead for being so blind. “Oh man, I just realised that you’re the Johto Champion! How’d I not figure that out before now?”

Lance raised an eyebrow and shrugged, "I'm surprised. Most people recognize me right away." He really was surprised, since he could barely go anywhere without being recognized. But it was nice that Aaron had been so willing to battle him despite not realizing who he was and given him such a good fight. "Anyways, thanks for helping me to evolve Fraxure into Haxorus."

"Damn!" Aaron cursed under his breath. Fraxure was still standing even after Heracross’s attack, and what was worse was that the dragon was still getting stronger while close combat had forced the beetle to lower his own attack power and it’s defence. The Elite knew it was his fault, having panicked and launched the attack too soon.

"Heraaaa!" Heracross cried out as dual chop hit home, a flurry of blows landing on him and knocking him back. The bug type landed heavily in front of him, flopping limply due to having been knocked out by the attack. Aaron ran forward to the pokemon, one hand lifting his head up to give the defeated pokemon an encouraging smile.

"You did great, Heracross." he said, his free hand taking out Heracross’s poke ball and holding it up to return him. "Take a good rest." Heracross gave him a sad smile before vanishing in a flash of red light, Aaron standing up and approaching Lance. "Man, that Fraxure of yours is something else." he said, looking at the dragon. "I guess just how strong it was caught me off guard, and I made some mistakes because of it. You did an amazing job raising it, that’s for sure!"

Lance smiled as Fraxure let out a cry of victory, but before he could say anything, the Axe-Jaw Pokemon started glowing white. Its body began to change, growing larger and more lithe. Finally the glow faded, showing it had become Haxorus. Lance grinned and rested a hand on the Axe-Jaw Pokemon's back, "Well done Haxorus!" The Dragon-type let out a happy roar as Lance approached Aaron. "Thank you for the battle Aaron. That was most enjoyable. You've trained your Heracross very well. I can see how you became a Sinnoh Elite Four Member."

Night slash met slash, with neither combatant willing to give up a single inch. Heracross grunted, trying his best to force the dragon pokemon back and keep up the attack. Fraxure’s boost proved to be the difference, the axe jaw pokemon making good on its attack and taking Heracross in the chest. “Heraaa!” the beetle cried out, flying back a few metres and collapsing in front of Aaron.

"Heracross! You okay?" Aaron asked, watching as the bug type got back to his feet. He was trying his best not to show it, but Fraxure seemed to be wearing down Heracross. Oh man, we’ve gotta try and finish this quickly! The Elite thought to himself, watching as Heracross nodded in response to his question. “Alright then, get in there with close combat!” Aaron called out. He thought that Lance might have said something, but Fraxure’s power was starting to rattle the Elite and it was disconcerting for him.

Fraxure may have been standing strong, but Lance could tell that it was tiring almost as much as Heracross was. However it was putting up an excellent fight and he appreciated its efforts. Lance knew this fight had to end soon as well and as Heracross attacked with Close Combat, he called out, "Defend Fraxure!" Fraxure dodged and blocked Heracross' strikes, but ti couldn't keep it up forever, even with the Dragon Dance boost. Finally Heracross got its opening and knocked Fraxure back. The Dragon-type shook its head, dazed, but got back up. "Good job Fraxure. Now let's finish this. Dragon Dance once more and then Dual Chop!" The Axe-Jaw Pokemon struck its poses again as its body pulsed with new strength then charged at Heracross with its glowing tusks.

Break Time [we open]

The gentle breeze distracted her a tad. It was that mix of the perfect day plus good tea time snacks plus watching her pokemon chase each other like little children made this day…oddly perfect.

But then her attention was caught, not by the familiar sound of a male voice, or even the fiery red hair that would catch anyone’s attention. Oh no. It was that all to familiar cape that fwooshed behind him.

See, not many men could pull that look off, and Cynthia knew there was only one man who actually made capes look attractive.

"Lance…"

A smile formed on her lips as she placed her tea next to her phone on the bench and stood up to greet him.

"It’s been far too long, dear."

Lance smiled when she noticed him and walked up to her. "It has Cynthia. You're looking well. How have you been?" Cynthia looked the same as ever, wearing her impressive black outfit and combing her hair into a regal manner. Lance had met her a few times at various inter league events and during his occasional trips to Sinnoh. He enjoyed her company whenever he had it as she could relate to him in ways others couldn't, being a champion herself.

Break Time [we open]

[If anything was obvious right now, it was how tired the champion looked. Days and days of long hours in the office and finally she found the time to get out for some tea and probably a well deserved break.

She sat herself on one of the park benches with a take out cup filled with tea specially made for her, and a box of macaroons. Her phone sat quietly next to her and her pokemon ran freely around the park, enjoying the break just as much as she was.

Cynthia wasn’t really expecting company. Hell she was hoping people wouldn’t bother her for autographs or pictures. But she was hoping for a decent conversation.

Lance was walking through the park, enjoying his Sinnoh vacation. It wasn't often that he got time off from his champion duties and he liked visiting the other regions whenever he could. As a gentle breeze blew through his hair, Lance let out a happy sigh. He suddenly noticed a familiar face sitting on one of the park benches, Cynthia, Sinnoh region champion. Deciding to say hi, Lance called out to her and waved.

Justice of the Dragon Champion (Open)

Lanced landed Dragonite on the outskirts of Blackthorn City and climbed off, looking around. There'd been reports of remnants of Team Rocket in the area, snatching Dragon-types from the Dragon's Den and stealing other powerful Pokemon from trainers. Finally, Lance had been asked to intervene, which he'd happily accepted, itching for action and eager to defend his home town. He began looking for clues, determined to find the criminals and bring them to justice no matter what it took.

Heracross looked pleased with getting a hit in, although Aaron knew that the beetle pokemon knew better than to let it go to his head. It was a mark of how much they had trained together and how well they worked as a team, and the Elite could tell that the same bond was present in their opponents.

"Your Fraxure is really strong, this is a great battle!" Aaron called out to Lance, though his tone remained relatively confident. He wanted to keep pressing the advantage while he had it, feeling that if Lance were given a proper chance to rally it would be hard going. "Okay Heracross, keep it up with night slash!" Heracross gave a quick reply before rushing forward once again, its forearms becoming shrouded in shadow.

Lance nodded, "Your Heracross is an excellent fighter as well! Now then Fraxure use Dragon Dance!" Aaron had trained his Heracross well and this battle was quite exciting. The Dragon-Type struck a few poses, its body suddenly glowing as its Attack and Speed increased. "Now Slash!" Fraxure charged to meet Heracross, its claws glowing and it countered Heracross' Night Slash.

Aaron was caught off guard by Fraxure’s speed just as much as Heracross was, almost gasping as the beetle pokemon was thrown forward from its strike. He forced himself to stay calm, knowing that a mistake could very well cost him and Heracross this battle. Heracross was back on his feet now, turning again to keep his eyes on Fraxure.

"Getting close might be a problem right now." the Elite thought, having the distinct feeling that his opponent would likely come out on top if they just charged straight in. “Okay Heracross, use stone edge now!” The bug pokemon complied, small jagged stones appearing around him before being flung straight at the dragon.

"Counter with Dual Chop Fraxure!" Fraxure's tusks glowed and it swung them at the approaching stones, smashing a number of them. However it missed one, which hit it in the chest and knocked it back. "Fraxure, are you alright?" The Axe Jaw Pokemon recovered and shook its head a bit, before standing ready to keep fighting.

Elesa laughed at his portray of the question he’d asked her a time earlier. “Heh, that’s the position everyone in the universe wants to take? Sounds like so much work for someone so big in the Johto Region and beyond? Sounds like some deal! I wonder what I’d look like as a Champion. Could you see me as one?”

Lance considered Elesa, "Hmmm... I believe so. You certainly look like you could get down the air of a champion." Champions had a few attitudes they could give off and regality was one of them. Being a model, Elesa seemed good for that.

"Hmm…" She tapped on her pale chin with her finger, thinking about his question a bit. “Well…" She started to say, her same genuine smile on her face. “I would assume that it would be similar to the life of a Champion such as yourself." She giggled cutely, hoping that was the answer he was searching for.

"Let's see, an honorable position with a lot of fame, glory, and perks, but rather demanding and somewhat restricting? Does that sound about right?" Lanced smiled at Elesa, thinking that probably made sense considering what he'd heard about model's lifestyle.

"Oh, we’re ready alright!" Aaron replied, heading to stand a short distance away from his now opponent. Heracross shadowed him over to ready himself for the battle as well, stopping closer to Lance and Fraxure than his trainer. “Isn’t that right Heracross?"

"Hera! Heracross!" the bug pokemon replied, mirroring Aaron’s confidence. Aaron could feel himself getting fired up for this battle, and he knew that Heracross felt the same. There was something about this trainer that had him pumped up, as though this was going to be the challenge of a lifetime.

"If you’re ready, we’ll go first!" Aaron called out, sure that Lance and his Fraxure would be. “Go Heracross! Use megahorn!"

"Starting off strong are we?" Lance thought to himself and quickly gave Fraxure his command, "Dodge Fraxure!" The Axe Jaw Pokemon leapt over Heracross, barely avoiding the tip of Heracross' horn. Lance smirked, pleased to see Fraxure's training had paid off and its speed and agility were at its peak. "Now use Slash!" Fraxure's claw glowed and it slashed Heracross across the back.

"What dragon type is your favorite then from the ones you’ve caught so far? And do you have a reason for it?"

"That's very hard for me to say. I like all my Dragon-types pretty much equally. But if I had to say, it'd be my Dragonite, since it was my first Pokemon."

A Trip Down Champion Road || Elesa & Lance

"Well, she walked into my dressing room one day and asked to do my hair. It was so nice of her to offer that, so I allowed it. She was nice to me, so I decided to be friends with her." She smiled politely, looking back at her.

"I see." Lance smiled, that sounded exactly like Lyra, "She is a very kind girl. I'm very glad to have met her." As he kept walking with Elesa, he posed a new question, "What's it like being a model?"

"Go Heracross! Use megahorn on that tree!" Aaron watched as Heracross’ horn started to glow, before it flew full speed at the tree he had indicated. The bug pokemon impacted it strongly, causing the tree to shake heavily and the soil at its base to rise from the sudden movement of its roots. Aaron nodded at the attack, knowing that it took a lot of power to move a tree like that and happy that no lasting damage would be done to it.

"Hera! Heracross!" the beetle pokemon said, proud of its strength. The Elite grinned at him, walking over and resting one hand on his hard shell. He opened his mouth, about to congratulate the pokemon when an impact behind them stole their attention. Curious, Aaron and Heracross walked towards the source of the sound only to find a collapsed Krokorok. He stared at it for a second, before looking up to see another trainer standing nearby with a Fraxure.

"Did your Fraxure beat this Krokorok?" Aaron asked, walking over to the trainer with Heracross following. “That’s pretty strong. My name’s Aaron, what’s yours?"

Lance was surprised when another trainer appeared with a Heracross. In response to the question, Lance nodded, “My name is Lance. Nice to meet you Aaron." The champion felt that the name sounded familiar but couldn’t quite place it. “Your Heracross looks quite strong." Fraxure approached the Bug-Type, looking it over curiously.

Heracross puffed himself up at the compliment, Aaron grinning at the beetle pokemon’s reaction as well. He knew that of all his pokemon, Heracross was probably the most like him in that he enjoyed the company of others and their adulation was a guilty pleasure. “Hera! Hera!" he said, content to stand there and let Lance examine him.

"Thanks." Aaron said, taking a moment to look over the trainer. His fiery red hair stood out in contrast to his darker, more regal looking clothes, and left the Elite with an impression that this was someone who could earn the respect of others with relative ease. “Your Fraxure looks pretty awesome too." he added, taking a moment to look at the axe jaw pokemon. It did seem as though Lance had done an exceptional job of training it, and the more that Aaron saw it the more an idea began to form in his head.

"Hey Lance…" he started, before turning to the trainer and raising a fist in challenge. “How about a battle? Heracross versus Fraxure!"

Lance thought on that, then nodded smiling. "Certainly! Such a battle would be good for Fraxure!" As they stood across from each other, preparing to battle, Lance looked Aaron over. His appearance was very distinctive and free-spirited looking and had the air of a Bug-type specialist. Even the spike in his hair almost looked like a beetle horn. Aaron also seemed confident and wily, the kind of trainer you wanted to keep an eye on. Lance felt he really did a good job of seeming like aa Elite Four member, "Are you ready Aaron?"

The Sinjoh Ruins || Cynthia & Lance

"According to the research I made a few months ago, this temple contains the same elements of both Sinnoh’s Spear Pillar and Johto’s Ruins of Alph…" Cynthia explained. “It is very possible that Arceus and the Unown have an underlying relationship." She began to walk inside the ruined temple. “Not only that, but this temple is strongly connected to the creation trio," the blond woman told him. “Dialga, Palkia, and even Giratina…"

The female champion turned back towards Lance, smiling. “This is one of favorite ruins because our regions’ cultures were combined here in this unknown region."
