Article 13 NEEDS TO BE STOPPED!!!
I DONâT CARE IF YOUâRE NOT EUROPEAN!!!!
THIS WILL AFFECT THE WAY EVERYONE USES THE INTERNET!
DO YOUR RESEARCH!
CALL/EMAIL YOUR MEPs!
KEEP THIS HORRIBLE LAW FROM GETTING PASSED!!!
Just fyi this will likely affect non-Europeans as well. Itâs easier for a website like YouTube to just restrict ALL copyright instead of just sectioning off what they need to. Theyâll probably let bigger YouTubers still operate, but small time content creators will be a thing of the past.

I am very sad to hear about the passing of Steve Hillenburg after a battle with ALS. SpongeBob was obviously a huge presence during my many years at Nickelodeon (all the way back to the Zim days), and throughout the American TV animation industry. I only had a few brief interactions with Steve over the years, but he was always humble, and very kind to Mike and me. The last time I saw him was a couple years ago at a nice group lunch with some mutual friends from the SpongeBob crew. I was a definite outsider in the bunch, but Steve graciously picked up the whole bill. When I was recruited by Eric Coleman to pitch a series in 2002, he told me he wasnât looking for the âmillion dollar idea,â rather, he was looking for people like Steve Hillenburg â in their creative capacity, and also in how they could run a production and work in a positive, collaborative manner. I have great respect for Eric and he always spoke of Steve in the highest regard. My condolences to Steveâs family, friends, coworkers, and many fans. đ
The internet could change next week, and not in a good way
You may have heard about the efforts in Europe to reform copyright law. The debate has been ongoing in the European Parliament for months. If approved next week, these new regulations would require us to automatically filter and block content that you upload without meaningful consideration of your right to free expression.Â
We respect the copyrights and trademarks of others, and we take all reports seriously to ensure that your creative expression is protected. We make this clear in our Community Guidelines. Thereâs already a legal framework that works and is fair: Today we take down posts and media that contain allegedly infringing content when we receive a valid DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) takedown request. We also provide clear-cut ways for people to fight back if they believe their removed content was not a true violation. These instances are monitored and reported and live in our biannual transparency report.Â
The suggestion to use automated filters for issues of copyright is short-sighted at best and harmful at worst. Automated filters are unable to determine whether a use should be considered âfair useâ under the law and are unable to determine whether a use is authorized by a license agreement. They are unable to distinguish legitimate parody, satire, or even your own personal pictures that could be matched with similar photographs that have been protected by someone else. We donât believe that technology should replace human judgment. Tumblr is and always has been a place for creative expression, and these new regulations would only make it harder for you to express yourself with the freedom and clarity you do so now.Â
If you access Tumblr from Europe and want to act, you can find more information on saveyourinternet.eu.Â
Please reblog this as much as you reblogged the posts about Net Neutrality.Â
If Article 13 is approved, European People might be basically banned from uploading any fan content.Â
You wonât get new fanfics from people in Europe.
You wonât get new gifs from people in Europe.
You wonât get new fanart from people in Europe.
Because theyâll be automatically filtered and blocked!
We might leave Tumblr and other fandom pages.
And if weâre getting all our content blocked?Â
You might lose some of your favourite followers/mutuals.
You might not get to read the rest of that fic youâre dying to read - simply because the writer lives in the wrong country.
So do whatever you can to help us stop this.
Reblog this.
CONTACT YOUR REPRESENTATIVES TO TELL THEM YOU DONâT WANT ARTICLE 13 TO BE APPROVED IF YOUâRE EUROPEAN! DO IT VIA THE HOMEPAGE
I really wish there was an option on those Customer Service Surveys that says specifically, âThe representative I spoke to was lovely and helpful and deserves all of the raises but I think that you, as a corporation, should die in a fire.â
hey as somebody who works in one of those companies that sends out those surveys, never, NEVER mention how much you hate the company in them. just talk about the representative. then, go to the companyâs social media page and blast your bad reviews there
those surveys decide our pay, they decide whether we get bonuses or not, they decide if we get to keep our jobs or not. iâve read transcripts on surveys where itâs has been praising the representative but mentioned one bad thing about the company. that fell to the representative because they should have been enough to sway the customers opinion.
Hey just to add on, if you liked the representative, and the survey is asking for opinions on a scale of 0-10⊠please give the rep 10âČs across the board. Donât try to be thoughtful and detailed and put down a 7 or an 8 or a 9. A lot of times anything below a 9 or 10 counts as a zero (no, for real) and guess who it comes back to? Thatâs right, the customer service rep.
At my job anything below a 10 is zero and our store is graded on our survey % so if anyone even puts 9s across the board itâs a 0 in the end and heavily brings down our stores score- which can lead to firings,
corporations: more horrible than i thought
Reiterate: Always score those surveys as 10s. Blast the company itself on social media.
This is the same for retail and food workers on the 5 point scale. Anything below 5 is considered failing and can affect our hours, our bonuses, and if weâre considered for promotions later on. Always take the survey, always rate high unless they really, truly were awful.
LISTEN UP
Iâm American. I live right in the southwest and let me tell you, itâs hell over here right now, but it will become a lot worse if Article 13 is passed.Â
Youâve probably heard about Article 13, and if you havenât, go watch this video right now. Whatever youâre doing can wait for sixteen minutes and two seconds, because a second-long vote could destroy everything online.
Whether youâre from Europe or not, this law could affect you, so you should care Article 13 because it is going to destroy the online lives that you have built. No more posting memes, no more remixes, and no more YouTubers from anywhere.Â
Jacksepticeye will no longer be able to upload.Â
Markiplier will no longer be able to upload.Â
MatPat wonât.
Thomas Sanders.
Dan and Phil.
How to Basic.Â
All of your favorite content creators are at risk of losing their jobs because people want stricter laws on copyright, which will support the larger media companies but kill smaller creators. And because of this, we may lose everything online.Â
So spread the word! Reblog this, reblog other peopleâs posts, find petitions, write your own posts! If youâre in Europe, contact your MEPâs and get them to understand how it will affect the people who use the internet.Â
Please.Â
#savetheinternet.Â
Please stop and read this
This is important !!!
This video actually very clearly explains why this isnât just about âthe end of all memesâ and everyone really should be watching this.
Save the internet now
https://www.change.org/p/saveinternet Please, go to this site and put your name on this petition. Itâs for stopping Article 13, an EU thing that likely will kill memes and AMVs, actually the whole internet culture. This article basically says that the site that allows an copyrighted upload will be held responsible. If that dosenât sound scary then let me give an example.Â
You want to make a meme, letâs say that you use a screenshot of a TV-episode, that screenshot is protected by copyright. You are finished and hit the upload button and it should go up except instead you are given something that looks like an error message. Your site had to make a hugely expensive and faulty system that searches your upload for infringment on copyright and stops it. And you might try again and again till you give up or draw something original. Or your site letâs you upload it and a few days later both you and them have to pay tremendous sums, if it happens too many times they might have to declare bankruptcy. Oh, I forgot to mention. This would kill youtubers and most content creators jobs. And every continent, even the USA would be affected So do me a favor and sign it, please.
EVERYONE PLEASE LISTEN. DO NOT IGNORE THIS.
Article 13 is going into itâs final stages of voting.Â
If this gets through, it will allow many, many companies to abuse and misuse this article to take down as many memes, fan works, and even other independent creators on sites like YouTube, Facebook, and other websites INCLUDING Tumblr.Â
THE FAIR USE LAW AND SAFEHARBOR LAW WILL NO LONGER APPLY IN THE U.S OR IN OTHER COUNTRIES.Â
IT HAS ALREADY PASSED IN SEVERAL OTHER COUNTRIES.Â
WE CANNOT ALLOW THEM TO TAKE AWAY WHAT WE BUILT FOR THE INTERNET SO FAR.Â
So here is what you need to do to drag this article down.Â
1. Spread the wordÂ
I canât stress this enough. The more attention this gets the more people we can get to take this down.Â
2. Make your own contentÂ
Make your own content on the matter and make sure it is clear to others that Article 13 is bad for every internet user involved.Â
3. If you live anywhere in Europe, contact your MEPsÂ
Ask them if they approve of the article and why. If they do approve of it, try to convince them in a clear, reasonable, and most sensible way possible that this law is BAD.Â
The article itself is way to vague about what itâs conveying to its people.Â
Saying that as long as the use of said internet memes or content is good as long as itâs in âgood faith.âÂ
We cannot let some shoddy government tell us what we can and cannot post.Â
FREE SPEECH IS A HUMAN RIGHT. NOT A PRIVILEGE.Â
Hereâs a video on Article 13 that Film Theory made on the matter. It will explain things better than I can.Â
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GbXHrj8k7dg
THE VIDEO LINKED IS FROM YESTERDAY (24/11 2018) THIS IS ALL FRESH PLEASE SPREAD!
To my fellow âmericans that donât understand Article 13 and why itâs important, watch the video. MatPat breaks is down in a very easy way to understand why itâs important and why it will affect all of us. You might think ânaw, Iâm not in the EU, doesnât matter to meâ (which is a crappy way of looking at it in the first place) but guess what, it will.
Also, I feel like people are pushing the importance of this to memes, but honestly it goes SO well beyond that.
clip studioâs super cheap again! as of right now until next tuesday (11/27) clip studioâs only 25 dollars which is an incredible steal for the programâs features. if youâve been thinking of getting it nowâs a good time
Everyone going shopping on Black Friday, be aware of three things:
The retail workers are working 12 hours shifts. We are threatened with losing our jobs if we donât show up unless weâre dying in the hospital. I had an assistant manager show up with fucking strep because he wouldâve been fired otherwise. Yes, he did infect 7 and hospitalize 2 coworkers; who knows how many members of the public he infected.
The stores have, maybe, 5 of that special cheap thing youâre after. Corporate does this on purpose, and stores are not allowed to order enough. The prices arenât even that much lower. They lie about how expensive something is to fool you into thinking youâre getting a discount. You arenât.
Most of the workers you will come across will be new hires for the sole purpose of being bodies for about three months before theyâre fired. They actually donât know anything because theyâve been working there for maybe two weeks, and have had no real training. I was once hired at Staples a week before Black Friday and expected to know how to deal with phones, coupons, the online ordering site, and AS400 after five 6-hour shifts. This is the kind of person you will likely be dealing with at Black Friday.
Do me and my retail family a favor and donât shop Black Friday. Any company that needs a sale day like Black Friday to get their sales out of the red doesnât deserve to be in business.Â
This also goes for anyone that works shipment too. Weâre suddenly expected to stay as late as they want you to even if they know you donât have a car and rely on a ride to get you to and from work and know you canât stay late. Shipment workers will suddenly start getting berated for not getting things done and it is by far the most stressful time to be a shipment worker for any store. Especially when they throw in new hires that donât know how to process things and are expected to work at the same pace as the people that have worked there for a while.
Retail is shit around the holidays, especially Black Friday
ok fellow millenials, itâs time to kill black friday
LETâS KILL BLACK FRIDAY

Sometimes going out is unavoidable, please be as kind and understanding to the people forced to work as possible.
