“It’s an absolutely” he assured her with a wide grin, leaning in to press a quick and gentle kiss to her forehead before he untangled himself from her small frame and offered her his hand instead. “Care to lead the way?” he asked, gently teasing. He knew exactly where they were headed, after all. To the one place in this sorry camp that had ever managed to bring Jasper any peace. There was something about the gentle crashing of the waves as they hit the sand and the otherwise absence of sound that soothed something in his bones. Too much quiet allowed his mind to wander to darker thoughts, however, and so it was really just a game of balance. “So this boy that you like, tell me. Is he charming? devilishly good looking? Utterly dreamy?” he grinned even wider, a light of playful mischief in his ocean eyes as he fell into step beside her.
Wynn wanted to run. But where would they even go outside the camp and even if they could she knew deep down Jasper would stay and fight, she wasn’t so sure she would be as brave as he was. Wynn took his hand squeezing it lightly. If their world was going to end then time was important, he was important. She didn’t want any regrets. “Mmmmm, yes and so humble too.” she teased. With Jasper she could forget what she saw, forget the future and just be in the now, with him. He’d hear all about the assembly happening later, she just couldn’t bear to be there. “This is kind of my favourite spot now...I don’t know what to tell you - we might have to fight over it.”
