The grind of continuous health issues while struggling with cancer is wearing me down!
“there is nothing more powerful than realizing that your wholeness is not defined by anything but you. people may add onto the beautiful pieces that already exist within you, but nothing they do could ever complete you. the keys to your acceptance have always belonged to you.”
— iambrillyant
To live, TO. TOTALLY. LIVE. WITH. ALL. THE. LIFE. YOU. CAN. MUSTER. That is why you were born!
Trying to be heard over the roar of the needs of others. Realizing that the ones who cry the loudest at funerals are those that had no emotion for the dying when they were living. The ones with the most time are the ones who complain about the quickness of death and the lack of time to day everything they meant to say while the dead was living.
Enough….
Acceptance. Acceptance that I have traveled enough. That I have followed enough trains of thought. That I have achieved enough and that I have made a difference. I have touched enough lives and made a difference in those lives. Enough….it’s a comforting word as I revert my gaze from the rear view mirror of my life and focus once again on what lies ahead. I smile contently as I see terminal cancer, palliative care and death uphead.
Working
A very short story about 'working' and 'work' from 1979. I was 21.
Originally written in October, 1979Copyright © 1979 by Carl J. Mistlebauer. He comes in, “Hi Carl, business been steady?” He gives his skull-face a spin around to observe all in the store. Nothing in the store changes, yet he always has to look around to familiarize himself with the store. As he bullies around in the back storage room getting ready to prepare the floors, I cannot help but…

Death and Dying (Part 1)
The first in what I assume will be a series on celebrating life!
I am now fighting cancer for the third time in my life. I did not make a big deal out of my first battle with cancer (testicular) back in 1989. I remember being worried about completing all the tasks of my job before surgery and I also wanted to make sure that I did not miss any work. I was young and believed, that somehow, this event would not change my life as I was destined to live a long…

Creating a Day Worth Living
1. Get up early
2. Develop an attitude of gratitude
3. Invest in what matters
4. Have fun
5. Do something for others
6. Get out in the sun
7. Exercise – at least a little
8. Try something new
9. Don’t be afraid to take chances
10. Look for the humor in life.
Totally agree and this helped get me through four rounds of chemo
Welcome Aboard!
Two ideas that I hope to explore via this blog is the concept of ‘change’ and then that of ‘conversations.’ How much do we really change from our youth to old age? Then the idea of having ‘conversations’ via the internet is one that has always fascinated me. I will explore the changes in my own life via the various writings I created as a young man, a man I once was, and the questions those…

Welcome Aboard!
I would like to thank you for stopping by and hopefully taking the time to read, think about, and hopefully commenting on the various posts. I literally have about eight journals, three notebooks, various short stories, poems, and files full of writings that I created over the course of the 1970’s and 1980’s. I want to share those now and to compare the ideas I had as a young man with the ideas…

The King passes....
An 18 year old Bhumibol Adulyadej became King of Thailand in 1946.
1946, a year after WWII, in Southeast Asia.
70 years later he passes away.
He led Thailand through the rebuilding after WWII, through the period of the Vietnam War, and finally up to today.
Its easy to complain that he did not do enough to promote democracy but lets admire him for what he did accomplish. That can easily be documented by looking at Thailand’s neighbors (Burma, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, and Indonesia) and comparing their 1946 to 2016 history with that of Thailand.
He truly was a great leader.....

This song comes to mind every time I think of Donald Trump
CSN - Wasted On The Way
Look around me, I can see my life before me Running rings around the way it used to be I am older now I have more than what I wanted But I wish that I had started long before I did
And there's so much time to make up everywhere you turn Time we have wasted on the way So much water moving underneath the bridge Let the water come and carry us away
Oh when you were young did you question all the answers Did you envy all the dancers who had all the nerve? Look round you now, you must go for what you wanted Look at all my friends who did and got what they deserved
So much time to make up everywhere you turn Time we have wasted on the way So much water moving underneath the bridge Let the water come and carry us away
So much love to make up everywhere you turn Love we have wasted on the way So much water moving underneath the bridge Let the water come and carry us away Let the water come and carry us away
