“Nando’s is actually better than where I woke up - which was a closet. I can’t even tell you how I got there. Hell - I can’t even tell you which closet it was. But ya know I guess that’s for the best cuz could you imagine if I got caught in an attack like that? I would’ve blown up the whole uni by accident or something.”

“Homie,” Evie tried, even if it sounded, and felt, a little awkward on her tongue. “You really called the little thief Perry? He’s like… a thief!” This was why Evie didn’t do magical creatures. She blinked in surprise, flinched as if she were slapped, even if Chany only told her to get over herself. Evie was certain she never really let anyone talk to her this way except Chany, mostly because she knew Chany was joking, but her spoiled arse was still so shaken upon hearing it. “It is my jewelry you bitch, they cost 300 galleon each from mum and dad! And I am so not apologizing to Perry. You couldn’t even make me if you tried.” She huffed, crossing her arms over her chest and looking at Chany confusedly. “Er, I am not? Going to search for the thing. Why do you think I came to you in the first place? I’ll just wait here for you til you find it.”

Chantel rolled her eyes at Evie. “He is not a thief. He can’t help that he has expensive taste like your own. 300 galleon each? Who needs jewelry that expensive? And to wear on a regular day! Girl, you were askin to get robbed. You could get so much more with that kind of money. Have you ever even considered the amount of drugs and alcohol you could get and share with me? Sometimes you are so selfish, Evie.” The redhead mocked her friend’s stance, crossing her arms over her chest. “Er, if you want your 300 galleon each jewelry you are going to search for him. You came to me for help and I will help. But I will not do the work for you. Mostly because that’d be lonely and I hate being lonely. Now roll up your sleeves and lets go princess!”

He took her hand into both of his and interlocked them in prayer position. “Let’s just go on the lam. Right now. And by on the lam I mean to your dorm in ordering distance of delivery food and Netflix and far away from my mother.” That potion was finally beginning to kick in. He couldn’t feel his toes. “Ah shit, Chan, this is some good stuff like. Let’s go on a ride on my broom right now. That would be cool as fuck.” As if he had forgotten that he still had her hands grasped to his, he brought their joint hands to his cheek and rested his face into them. With his best puppy dog eyes, he let out, “pleaseeeeee.”

“You are literally describing my favorite type of night right now. But I’m telling you right now, if you’re mother comes after me I will not hesitate to throw you under the bus.” Chany didn’t need him to tell her the potion was doing its job - she could smell it in his blood. And see it in his face. “Don’t rub it in you’re making me jealous. Way to save me some!” She teased. At his horrible suggestion on how to leave the hospital she couldn’t help but roll her eyes, laugh, and squeeze his hand once more. “Alex, baby, you know I am usually all for bad decisions, but that has got to be one of the worst ideas you have ever said. I like to have fun, not die.” Chantel hated being the voice of reason, but Alex was starting to get better and could leave soon - she wasn’t going to be the reason he got another injury.

“Hey Chany?” Evie called through the grounds, finding her quickly. She studied magical creatures, right? “GIRL, I’m gonna need you to do me a favor.” She said, hurrying over to her with her arms held out away from her, holding a Niffler. “Take this fucker because he stole a bunch of my… jewelry which was really expensive. Do the thing where you get it all to fall out because he took my earrings and my necklaces!” She whined, but gasped when the Niffler fell from her hands and ran off. “HELP ME!” She shouted, nearly bawling at the idea of her precious jewelry being lost forever in a Niffler’s pouch.

“What up, homie?” She asked before spotting the adorable creature in Evie’s hands. “Ooh, Perry is that you? Are you getting into trouble again? You naughty lil’ Niffler.” Chantel said in that baby voice people seem to always use when talking to animals. “Evie, you need to get over yourself. It’ll be fine. Now apologize to Perry. He’s not a fucker, he’s a pure soul.” She said before reaching out to take the Niffler until it wriggled free from Evie’s grasp. “Evie! Get it together. It’s clearly seen something shiny now keep your eyes out for anything that sparkles! That should be easy for you.”

Zach didn’t expect his night to be so interrupted. Eli was working late at the bank and he was busy writing a paper on Sweeping Evil when the door was knocked on so insistently and loudly. He couldn’t even imagine who it would be. Anyone with common sense would know to chill with the knocks. He got up from his room, Emmy running to the door and staring up at it. Orion barked excitedly and Marcel bounced happily in curiosity. Zach gently shooed them away before opening the door. “What—” he started, but his sentence was cut off. He stared, bewildered at Chany with his right eye twitching at how awful her blood smelled and how god damn drugged up she was. He even scrunched his nose in disgust and blinked in surprise when her hand landed on his cheek. This was probably what hell was like—just a drugged up Chany touching you all eternity because it was certainly torture. ‘Yeah I can tell.” He said, trying to pull his face back but god why did this girl have such a strong hold? Like let go! “Okay, so—you—let go—wait no.” Well he didn’t mean touch his hair. Zach glared down at her for a moment before taking a deep breath to calm himself down. “What did you take? You’re in Slytherin, by the way. And you fucking reek. And it’s nighttime, god damn.” He carefully grabbed her hand and tried pulling it from his hair, but pulled her inside because she was clearly going to die on her own tonight if she didn’t have any type of protection or supervision. “Why didn’t you apparate to your dorm?”

Chantel stumbled into his room. “But this isn’t ordinary darkness - it’s like advanced darkness. How do you know where you are? How can you see?” She looked around his room, but the room was still dark to her and...starting to spin? “Wait, did you say I was in Slytherin? No that can’t be right. I’m in Gryffindor. The sorting hat even said - oh my god you have pets! I didn’t catch you as the feeling type.” She squatted(fell?) down on the ground and held out her hand to the small grey and white cat, making kissy noises until the cat came over and rubbed against her hand. “Aren’t you a cute baby how did you end up with someone like Zach? I thought he didn’t like pussies. Ooh, your hair is soft too that must be why.” She said, giggling at her own joke. She got so absorbed into petting the cat for a moment she forgot where she was and that someone was in the room until Zach started talking again. “Oh, my mom told me not to do that. In case you didn’t know,” her voice lowered to a whisper as if she was telling him a secret. “I’m kinda bad at magic.”

“You know I could never turn down a free meal and a hot date. Remind me to send your roommate a thank you card. Let’s go somewhere that has really fancy and expensive drinks and drink until we don’t find each other attractive anymore.”

“You know the nurse said I can leave tomorrow as long as I pass some test in the morning.” His head hurt less now because he’d finally given in and taken some of the prescribed potion. It was starting to make Alex feel dizzy in the way that one feels after a couple of drinks. He was cognizant of his surroundings, but not entirely in control of what would leave his lips. “My mom’s trying to make me come home with them for the week, but I think we could sneak out and if I crash at yours she’ll never find me.”

Chantel sat at the edge of her bff’s hospital bed where she had been for most of his stay. “Not to worry you, but you aren’t the best at taking tests,” she teased. Really she was glad his injuries weren’t worse and that he would be getting out of the hospital so soon. She had completely missed the attack, going on a bender and passing out in a closet before it had happened. Chantel squeezed his hand. “I’m glad you’re doing okay, Alex. I would be delighted to assist in you disobeying your mom and sneaking you out. I could never say no to a sleepy.”

Chantel stumbled down an unfamiliar corridor. Everything was green and it confused her so much. And why was it so dark? The lights were so dim like how did the uni expect their students to see? (Really she just forgot she was wearing sunglasses). But even though Chany had no idea where she was there was a scent she recognized and recognition meant hope. She stumbled into the wall beside her, knocking over a picture hanging from the wall. “Ssh!” she hissed over her shoulder although the corridor was completely empty and it was her who was the noisy one. She came to a halt in front of the door the smell was strongest at and knocked on the door until it opened. “Zach,” she slurred. She reached out, placed her hand on his cheek, and caressed it before pulling his face down to hers. “I took so many drugs,” she whispered in his face before she started giggling. “Oh, and I have no idea where I am. Why is everything green? Kind of looks like my dorm except like, it should be red, and it’s green. And why is it so dark in here? Does uni expect us to have night vision-” Her rambling got cut short as her eyes drifted from his face and to his hair. Impulsively, she reached out and touched it. “Wow, Zach. You’re hair is so soft.” She said in awe before giggling again.
