Did you know that The ashes of James Doohan, who played chief engineer Montgomery Scott in the original “Star Trek,” were launched into space in 2012?
He told his wife that he wanted his ashes sent to the stars, and after his death SpaceX made this a possibility.

Our set up last night for 'play the golden record' inspired by the sounds from the records bolted to the sides of the Voyager space probes. Part of NI science fest! #voyager #nisciencefestival #carlsagan #belfast
Here in Northern Ireland we are celebrating our first ever Science Festival and as a part of our first ever Science Festival a street in Belfast has been named after the scientist who put Einstein right. Bell’s Theorem Crescent The name celebrates his seminal 1964 paper, more formally known as On The Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen Paradox, which demonstrated that Einstein’s views on quantum mechanics were flawed. John Stewart Bell is arguably the greatest scientist to ever come out of Northern Ireland and was nominated for the Nobel Prize before his premature death in 1990. Northern Ireland has an incredible scientific legacy and John Bell deserves to be celebrated as a physicist of global significance and a phenomenal role model for young people!!
"Look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see, and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious." - Stephen Hawking
Look at how far astrophotography and telescopic observations have come in less than 200 yearsÂ

Review: Star Stuff by Stephanie Roth Sisson
Star Stuff: Carl Sagan and the Mysteries of the Cosmos by Stephanie Roth Sisson This is a picture book biography about Carl Sagan and how he got interested in the stars. It all started when he went to the 1939 World’s Fair and was inspired. He started researching stars and space and wondering about the universe around us. He got his doctorate and worked with other scientists to create machines that would investigate planets and take pictures of them. Then he went on television with his show Cosmos and told everyone about the universe and how we are all made from the same stuff as the stars. This is an inspirational story of how a child who loved the stars turning into a man who taught a generation about them.
He’s brilliant.
