Alright, it's been a bit since I last wrote something, but man, having Femme Fatale from Coyote Kid on repeat and Sorlato art from @yamsgarden is sparking that once lost flame, so here we go~

Characters/Pairing: Sorbet and Gelato from JJBA Part 5
It was a beautiful night. The moon shining into the ballroom of some rich man's mansion, mixing with the golden hues of the chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, where people danced and mingled.
Gelato had been assigned to a hit with a new member of La Squadra di Esecuzione, a man named Sorbet. The blonde had been caught by the quiet recruit, not quite love at first sight, but it didn't take much for things to grow tense with unspoken feelings between the two assassins. And it seems as though the capo had one hell of a sense of humor for sending the two on a mission such as this.
Both Sorbet and Gelato had to dress for the occasion, a masquerade ball for some fundraiser between rich families, or at least those higher up in society. Dressing in a dark green tuxedo with a white button-up tucked into the trousers and black dress shoes, Gelato left the first few buttons of his shirt undone, needing to have some semblance of freedom from the tight clothing. He didn't bother with the bow tie, leaving it hanging undone around his neck, nor did he do much else besides spraying a little cologne before grabbing the simple black with green and gold accents masquerade mask and leaving for the mission.
Upon arriving at the mansion, Gelato was halted by some bodyguards, though a small, forged letter allowed him entry. Slipping the mask on, the assassin wandered the halls, his head on a swivel as he searched for Sorbet through the masked attendants. Emerald hues studied the moving bodies as he maneuvered into the ballroom, following the flow of movement until his wrist was caught, and a low baritone spoke up from behind him.
A chuckle rumbled from Gelato as his free hand, which was kept in his pocket, eased the hold on his knife, and he spoke up in return. Teasing as he turned to face Sorbet with a playful glint in his green eyes and a smirk lazily curling his lips.
"Ah, my apologies, princess, I hadn't meant to make you waste away on your lonesome."
His words were met with a subtle scoff from Sorbet, who was striking in his navy-blue suit and matching tie with his own black and white Oxford loafers. His masquerade mask was a bit more intricately detailed with silver and blue accents on a smooth white surface.
Not wanting to cause a fuss with other attendants by being immovable forces in the middle of the dancefloor, Gelato took hold of Sorbet's hands and guided the man into a slow waltz. Though after a second, it had turned into a small sway as Gelato noticed the two left feet Sorbet seemed to have and raised a silent yet amused brow at the man's distracted state.
Sorbet had been busy trying to pinpoint the target, unaware that his distracted state caused a slight stumble between him and Gelato. Although feeling the smaller assassin's gaze on him, it seemed to snap Sorbet out of his search and meet Gelato's gaze with a curious one of his own.
"Perhaps...but it's a beautiful night for a bloodbath"
Gelato smirked a bit wider, stopping the sway completely, standing in the eye of the ballroom, the other attendants swirling around them like a blurring storm of colors, suits, and dresses. Holding out a hand, the wild blonde spoke up once more as he noticed Sorbet's slight confusion.
"Well, darling, dance with me."
Sorbet hesitated for a moment, though holding Gelato's gaze, the man with slicked-back raven hair returned the smirk and relaxed, taking the outstretched hand and getting back into position with Gelato. Their hands resting together, as Gelato rested his free hand on Sorbet's shoulder, and Sorbet placed his own on Gelato's waist. They danced once more, moving to the tempo of their own music, a tempo they only knew with their gazes locked and the world falling away.
"Feel the beat in your chest, let your feet do the rest, and make this dance complete."
Gelato encouraged playfully, stepping with Sorbet, allowing the taller to twirl him around to survey the ballroom. Upon catching sight of the target, once Gelato was pulled back into position, he dipped Sorbet in the direction of the man they were to assassinate. Lifting Sorbet back up, calm sapphire eyes met the emerald hues which looked excitedly up at him. They were in business. With a knowing smirk, Sorbet murmured softly.
With a fond laugh bubbling from him, Gelato piped up as they began to move, dancing once more towards the target.

It didn't take long for the two to carry out the mission, running from the room they had led the target into for a "private discussion" before assassinating the man after gathering information. Running hand in hand, the two dodged bodyguards left and right as word spread of the dead host, the two dipping into the numerous hallways to lose the ones trailing after them.
Gelato had asked suddenly, coming to a stop at the end of the hallway.
Sorbet jested exasperatedly, having the feeling that whatever Gelato needed his trust for, it was not going to be pleasant. But he hadn't needed to wait long, for right as they had been backed into a corner, Gelato ran once more with Sorbet and crashed through the window. They were lucky to be on the first floor for such a stunt, as the impact was still unpleasant but not as damaging as a fall from higher up would have been. Though with a laugh from Gelato, they ran once more, going until they had made it to Sorbet's car and drove off, the mansion growing smaller as distance grew.
The quiet hum from the car's engine was all the sound within; neither man said anything as adrenaline ran its course until Sorbet spoke up behind the wheel, driving with one hand steering as the other took gentle hold of Gelato's.
"It takes two like you and me...please make this dance complete."
Pausing, Gelato had glanced down at their hands, interlocking his fingers with Sorbet's with a small smile before resting his head on Sorbet's shoulder, letting out a breathless chuckle.
