She was just dragged out of the water she was drowning in...
"ugh... I think I swallowed a fish...." COUGH

Valerie can't freaking Swim. She will sink like a rock and drown.))
Has Valerie ever tried to 'rig' the outcome of her attacks? Gambling her attacks is one thing but perhaps she could use a lil 'skill' in tipping the odds in her favor. Like weighted dice, marked cards, and the like.
((Theoretically speaking it's not impossible for her to do this...
But it would run contrary to how she likes to go about battle. She treats battling like a magic show. Like she's trying to impress an audience. Treating it like a magic show is what helps her fight easier by keeping her in a mind space that she's familiar with. And part of magic is rolling with the punches when things don't go right. In her mind if things always go correctly with no potential of error, it doesn't feel like a magic show. Because this is how she views Magic it's how the abilities she conjures up manifest themselves....
Also she has a problem with gambling. Not like casinos or anything just like generally making bad decisions...which also manifests in her abilities. And she continues to do so regardless of the risks. It also forces her to get creative which she believes is her bread and butter. Rather than just full on power or game breaking attacks.))
Beebz saw the strange girl throw some dice at it....and watched with bemusement as the beast ended up flying up and up into the sky before that portal bailed it out before it could breach the atmosphere. Well...that was weird, but she didn't know what was weirder...The beast itself or that girl's fighting style...Eh, either way the danger is gone now.
"Hmph. You're not so bad yourself even if you did need bailing out at the last-" Wait a second....
"H-HANDLEBARS!? Is that supposed to be my nickname!? Bruh, what the hell!? That's like if I gave you the nickname 'Buckethead' or something...geez." I don't think she approves at all, hehe. "Look just...just call me Beebz, alright? And who the heck are you anyways? And what was with that creature too?"
"... Honestly I've had worse nicknames..."
And then there came the inevitable questions... Which is fair, giant monsters didn't just appear out of nowhere usually...
"...Well the name's Val. ...Valerie "Buckethead" Million." She said that part with a smirk.
"... And big brutish and ugly back there that we fought was a Chaos... Something or another... I call them Chaos Demons." That was incorrect but we roll with it I guess...
"... They come in from...some... Chaos Dimension to try to mess things up here... And I work for a place that specializes in stopping them... Though today was supposed to be my day off until that thing came out of nowhere... I'll have to let Boss Lady know about that..."
She squints up at where the creature disappeared into a portal... More work she has to do...fun... Though theoretically it could be classified as overtime so maybe more pay?
"People tell me I'm like a cockroach... I'm messy annoying and hard to kill..."
That didn't sound like a compliment...but she didn't seem to care.

((Valerie is actively SO Aroace that one time a chaos creature who had the ability to force people to fall in love with each other with Cupid like arrows tried to hit her with the arrows... It literally just did not have an effect on her even when it kept rapid firing . She just walked right through it... Granted she did eventually collapse because she had several arrows sticking out of her back, the romance had forced love thing had no effect on her.))
"Tch. Is that all? Easy peasy, watch this~" Beebz turned and ran at the beast, looking like she intended to get into a head on collision! But, Beebz's hair started to change into a sky-blue hue as demonic energy swirled around her like a vortex.
"Alright, tough guy, why don't you talk to the hand!?" Beebz suddenly conjured a giant hand of concentrated magical matter, sending it forward to try and grab the beast and wrangle it to the ground. "Oof, this guy's puttin' up more of a fight than I thought....hey, how's about you hurry up and take that shot!? I can't do this forever, ya know!"
...Okay...yeah this definitely wasn't your average kid... Most kids she knew couldn't summon giant hand projectiles like that. Maybe she was like a chaos being or something?... But again she seemed to be wanting to help so that wasn't really a priority to think about!
Val shook away her brief surprise when the girl called her out.
"huh? O-Oh! Right! Yeah I gotcha!"
With a flick of her wrist she launched three electric cards towards the beast that was still trying to wrestle the hand away... And in that moment it was given a rather large shock throughout its body! Along with a lightning bolt landing directly on top of it for extra good measure! You can thank the 10 card for that.
It was completely stunned and unable to move. Every time it tried to, the electricity held it back. This led to a perfect opportunity for Valerie to use her other item, the Chaos Dice. She reached in her pocket rolled them in her hands and prepared to toss.
"C'mon... Mama needs a get out of jail free card!"
With a single decently powerful throw, she launched the 2 six-sided die into the creature, and as they hit? A large number nine appeared above the creature... Leading to Valerie giving a little smirk... As she watched the large beastial creature suddenly started levitating off of the ground... Looking around very confused as the ground continued to escape its grasp...
It kept floating and floating, until it realized there was no getting back to the ground. In a moment of panic the creature created a portal above itself that was dark and shadowy as a way to escape back into its own dimension, And as it slipped away the portal closed...
Valerie took a deep breath... And just as quickly exhaled it releasing all the stress she was holding back. The bravado she held with that smirk immediately dissipated.
"Yeeeeah that was way too close for comfort... " A deep sigh escapes her. "You're pretty tough for a little brat huh, Handlebars?"
This kid's assistance was more than appreciated. Otherwise She would have been trampled! ...It wouldn't have killed her, she was a bit tougher than that, but it would've hurt like heck!
"...you um... Good there?... You're lookin' a little... Worse for wear there..."
Said the disheveled looking girl wearing mismatched clothing...
Quite the dire situation indeed, fortunately for Valerie it seemed like she wouldn't be alone in handling this abhorrent monster. The wind howled as a blue blur made a beeline towards the charging creature, planning to intercept by striking it's flank.
"Yo! Now's not the time for a 'Deer in the headlights' impression, dumbass!" The mysterious figure called out to Valerie, before slamming full force into the creature to try and knock it aside. Hoping her attack bought them some time, the mysterious figure, who landed next to Valerie, turned out to be....some bratty lookin' kid!
"Ugh, that thing's uglier up close than I thought. No wonder it's so cranky. I'd be pissed too if I looked like that. Still though, can't have that thing throwin' a fit all over the place..." The last thing she wanted to see while out shoppin' for sweets was innocent people gettin' hurt! "Tell ya what...how's about I help you kick this thing's ass?"
"....So long as you leave the witty banter to me, because I heard your joke earlier and...uh...yeah if I had a cringe compilation, yours would be Number 1." Sassin' your 'teammate' already isn't a good first impression Beebz.
... She was expecting to get trampled... Why wasn't she trampled? She looked down only to see a very small little.. Child?... She had a very colorful vocabulary for a kid... Also she just insulted her, but now isn't the time to focus on that...
What she did focus on was the fact that this child just knocked aside this giant beast surprisingly easily. It wasn't down for the count though.
"...I didn't think anybody else could hear that...er I mean Dang, kid! Uh... Thanks for the save I guess... Even if it was delivered with a side of sass-parilla."
That second part was said a little bit under her breath but still loud enough.
She looked out at the creature seeing that it was getting back up...
"Normally what exists of my conscience would be against the idea of a random child wanting to jump in to fight a shadowy behemoth... But something tells me you ain't a normal kid so..."
With a little motion of her hand she pulled out several yellow Spade symbol cards that were sparking with electricity. The motion was very sleight of the hand magician-y. These cards would give the creature a good stun.
"Think you can keep it occupied while I line up a shot?"
She said focusing on the creature as it began charging forward again.
A quick crash course on one of Valerie's abilities.
Starter for @heroesxdemons
Valerie was currently fighting against what appeared to be a very massive Embodiment of Chaos. The monster could best be described as a hulking mass of a creature made out of Dark shadows with jagged teeth and a single hole in the front of their face that gave the illusion of an eye. This one was bestial large and quadruped and was trying to ram into her with as much force as it could.
However Valerie countered by turning herself invisible with her special cloak, causing the creature to lose sight of her.
With the creature briefly dumbfounded she revealed herself behind it and tossed out some diamond suit cards that exploded into ice, freezing the creature's feet in place.
"I'd tell you to cool it... But looks like you did... That... Already...yeah..." And she ruined the joke by dragging it out.
However very shortly after her poor attempt at a joke... The ice around the creature's feet began cracking... And with a single strong push, it broke free from its icy shackles and began running towards her again
"...Front of a bus..." She...'cursed'? Honestly it's kind of hard to tell. But she had currently a hulking mass of chaotic energy about to run her down seconds away from reaching her... She didn't have time to go invisible and even then she was still tangible in that state. This was going to hurt... Unless something was done.

"... Well this is fantastic..."
After a test with her chaotic throwing cards Valerie managed to accidentally blast herself into the air with a huge gust of wind...
Fortunately a tree caught her, but now currently she is hanging from the tree upside down being held up by her bootstraps. Normally she would just use her chaos cards to get herself down from this but...
She dropped them upon landing in the tree and they were all the way on the ground. Not far enough that falling would seriously harm her but enough that she can't reach...
Fortunately somebody seems to be passing by. Maybe she could get some help?
"Hey Night Eyes! Think you can lend a hand here and toss me one of those green cards?"
There were several types of cards scattered about there but the ones that were green were club suits. Valerie had an idea... Whether or not it was a good one was yet to be seen.
