What are your OCs core beliefs/motives? Do they ever break or violate them? Have they ever used them to justify their actions?

Alright. I have no idea how big this post will be so stay with me.

My main character, Kitt (Who goes by Mint).

Her main motives are to protect the ones she holds dear while also screwing over every bad guy possible. And ironically, her & her twin bro’s parents are villains too. Therefore, her morals are kinda muddled. 

I mean, she’s ok with killing bad guys (she has killed mostly cultists called “Reapers”, but I can elaborate on that in another rant/post}. But… She has trouble facing her friends. (Mind controlled or otherwise.)

And then there’s Onyx. Who’s basically a mix between TKO, Bill Cypher, & the Venom symbiote. She takes residence in Mint’s mind & tries to make her go nuts so SHE can take over & cause chaos. She tries to change Mint’s ideals to fit hers, so most of the time she tries to make deals with our hero & seem harmless.

But in reality, she’s just trying to yoink Mint’s place & destroy all she holds dear. Mint knows this, but keeps forgetting because Onyx doesn’t seem like a threat. (Again, it’s a trick.)

TL;DR. Mint has no sense of justice except what she’s watched from anime & cartoons. Even then, she’s so screwed up that a freaking demon takes advantage of her & tries to turn her to the dark side. (Which she’s already on the verge of doing by snapping.)

Edit: aaand I just realized that this is a question for developing villains. Eh, still fits.

Oooh I love this! Mint sounds like a character with a massive amount of story potential and I always enjoy a good “insidious corrupting influence” as well!

Would be interesting to know how she determines “bad guys”. Are her morals tied to any particular group or order? Sounds like she has it out for these cultists… I’d be very interested to find out more about them!

Thanks! Mint is currently going through uh. *looks at the broken mess that was left behind after a mind control arc where she had to face her twin bro, but had a fight with him after it* Uh...Through a lot of fluff after what she’s been.

She determines bad guys by a few things. One, do they dress like a bad guy. Two, are they hurting anyone/thing. & Three, are they trying to kill her/her friends & evilly laugh while doing it. Her morals are influenced by her friends, who keep her on the right track.

Main reason she fights Reapers is because they kill the residents of Illuminate City. Like, they’re a buncha Megalomaniacs. But I can’t really get into the reason they kill people without making this post way longer. Something about souls (basically steven universe gems but inside the body) & basically the plan of Team Galactic from Pokémon.

perfume is gender neutral

more perfume should smell like flowers and citrus and fun crap like that. also more novelty scents. if I want to smell like a freshly opened can of Play-Doh that’s my business.

people need to be careful not to wear too much, especially in classrooms & workplaces & on public transport. it’s an allergy issue.

perfume bottles should ridiculously, absurdly, ludicrously ornate again. if it doesn’t glow in the dark or at least have filigree & one those squeezy things, it shouldn’t be legally marketed as a luxury item

Tips for brainwashing/mind control arcs

DO. NOT. MAKE. THE. BRAINWASHED. PERSON. OVERPOWERED.

Whether it’s the MC’s best friend or a completely new character, do not do that. Sure, the effect may make them a lil’ stronger & faster, but it’s like salt. If ya put too much on, it starts getting inedible.

& another thing with getting OUT of it. The cliché of “You can fight this, I know you can! *brainwashed person flips off villain*” is waaay overused. Like, used in almost every single mind-media there is. Try doing something else, like showing the ‘washed person getting out on their own merits. Or the mind control messing up sometimes & they start to notice something’s up.

But for the love of Thoth, STOP MISUSING THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP!
