Yeah, you’re not wrong. It kinda reminds me of (probably the same people) watching players accounts during the BLM protests. If someone posted they were in the clear, if they didn’t they were racist. The whole message of the protests and what really is important was messed up by those people because they don’t care about BIPOC lives, they care about creating drama.

As someone who grew up in a state that's about 95% white and around racist, homophobic family, I completely understand a 17 yr old Sonnett saying these things.

I know I said stupid things as a teen and young 20s. Learning and growing as a person, and having to retrain your brain after growing up hearing these things, is a process.

It wasn't until I got older and started experiencing more of the world, that I realized it was wrong. It wasn't normal. Growing up hearing adults say horribly racist things, and getting positive reinforcement when you repeat it.

People can change. It doesnt take away the words they said or hurt they have caused but no one is the same person they were 6/8/10 years ago.

She said hurtful things. Not gonna lie hurt me a bit to read the Dyke one. But "cancelling" isn't the answer.
