Honestly, I think LN3's atmosphere would improve drastically if Tobias Lilja had composed the soundtrack

To clarify, I'm not saying drones are bad. It's a horror game, that's just part of the genre. My problem with the new soundtrack is that it's almost (emphasis on almost) ALL drones. Not to mention, a lot of the songs are very similar to each other.

Look at the previous games' soundtracks. There are many droning songs, but there are still plenty of songs that have melody and actual music. Especially LN2. And if you look at the songs that are just droning, they are pretty unique from each other.

I don't think the new soundtrack is inherently bad. I think it just doesn't work a Little Nightmares game

Tobias Lilja even explained how important it is not to have it all be drones. For example, he used the surrounding sounds like flies buzzing in the second game to make a bass for the atmosphere, unlike in the first game where he could get away with deep drones. He knew how important sound design is in a horror game and he knew how to do it right.

None of the music in LN3 is memorable and that says something.

People need to start making more content of Kris being the fucked up little guy in the Kris & Played dynamic

Weird Route Player is so oversaturated- it’s incredibly interesting, yes, but not a lot of people talk about the fact that Kris is basically keeping us hostage and the idea of the possessed person being the more morally grey one out of the two is just??? so interesting???

the little nightmares games are weirdly hopeful tbh

every kid who tries and fails to escape either leaves something behind that helps someone else get a little bit further (a bedsheet rope leading up a shear wall you'd never be able to climb on your own) (a flashlight)

or tries to help personally (ax smashing through door after door) (outstretched hand waiting to catch or drag away from that damn tv again) (food passed between the bars) (a sausage)

or leaves hopeful traces the current kid isn't alone, a small comfort in the dark (lanterns already lit and waiting) (a yellow rain jacket in a city full of rain) (just being there to meet at all no matter how shortly or how it all ends)

it's really.... sweet. sure, a lot of the character kids die or worse, but it never feels like it was pointless. what they did never feels HOPELESS

they had choices. they did things. they didn't get a happy ending but still made things a little bit better in some small tiny way, and someone else was there to see it. none of them are alone, even when they are

it feels good. the world around them is horrible but the part of it that's them feels good

Quick Ralsei rant but to this day I don’t understand how people can play through Deltarune chapters 3/4 (or hell just deltarune in general) and somehow still come to the conclusion that Ralsei’s only character trait is that hes “cute and nice” ???

Like I just came across a video where they said Ralsei annoyed them because they didn’t like his “I’m so nice” characterization, which I guess is valid if you just don’t tend to like that genre of characters in media, but on the other hand isn’t that the entire conflict of his character?

Ralsei up until he met Kris and Susie, believed his only purpose was to act as a guiding hand and protector for the heroes of the prophecy. He had no friends before them and had quite literally just been waiting around for them to show up so he could play out his “purpose” in the story. Because of this his understanding of relationships and people in general was extremely one dimensional, causing him to be pretty uptight when it came to everyone “playing their part” properly. But after he spends more time with Kris and Susie and see how Susie still manages to be a hero despite breaking every standard criteria that comes with being one, he realizes that people arent perfectly cut caricatures that can be nearly put into solid categories—they’re complex. Meaning he himself doesnt also have to be the “perfect kind prince” all the time in order for the prophecy to be true.

This development can be seen in chapter 2 where he talks about how its nice that “Susie is Susie” in the acid tunnel, and further evolves in chapter 3 with allowing himself to have the same treatment. He’s always had the most knowledge on darkners and lightners amongst the group, meaning he is more than aware how his existence is technically “less real” than Kris and Susie’s. Ralsei’s entire shtick of just being the “cute and nice one” is BECAUSE he limits himself to those characteristics, because up to this point he doesn’t believe he truly is a “real person”. Yeah sure he is both of those things, but there’s clearly more to him than just those traits. He’s not only acutely aware of how the prophecy goes (or at least how it alludes to ending) but he’s also aware of YOU the player. I mean come on he didn’t even let himself have a room in his own castle or even a hobby because he was just doing things to make Kris and Susie happy :(.

There’s so much more I could ramble about when it comes to him but I genuinely just dont get how some people see him so simple dude. (again I’m sure I got some things wrong in this rant too! lol I’d need to reread some of the dialogue so no hate to anyone ofc but still I wish more deltarune fans would read 💔)
