“I wanted to challenge politically the kissing scene, which traditionally either has the surprise kiss scene thanks to a rain shower for instance, or the obvious kiss scene thanks to mustard on the corner of the lips, for instance, and it is generally carefully scripted as ‘They kiss.’ Or ‘They passionately kiss.’ And then it’s on the actors’ shoulders. It seems to rely a lot on them because it’s their bodies and fluids and interaction, but it shouldn’t be. It’s fake. It’s not about finding the magic. Actors should always be part of the elaboration of an idea, especially with intimate scenes. So I wanted to craft a scene that would embody the sexiness of consent. People who are questioning the idea of asking for consent in France, they do exist. They are brave fighters for the culture of French gallantry who say that asking for consent would not be sexy, it will break the mood. Some of the French critics thought the film lacked flesh, precisely because to them eroticism is about conflict. […] At some point I came up with the idea of them having to unveil their mouths like they would undress themselves. So I put a scarf, justified by a strong wind, pressed on their lips and thinking you would see their heavy breathing through the moving cloth.”

it should be illegal to put ads in apps or sites for solitaire or picross or sudoku tbh. playing classic puzzle games uninterrupted needs to be a HUMAN RIGHT

One of the few actors I've seen go out of their way to credit their stunt actors by name in an interview is Keanu Reeves, who makes sure that Chad Stahelski gets his stars whenever he does press.
Thing is, Keanu does all his own action. But Chad does all his stunts. And when Keanu was asked to explain the difference, he was like, "oh, I'll fight ten guys and pretend to shoot a gun and run around and do some acting... And then Chad will get by a car. And then I'll stand up, and do some running and shooting, and then Chad will jump off of a building. And then I'll get up and do some more running."
Funniest way to break down action and stunts, and also really cool to actually credit his stuntman that's been bringing the character to life alongside him.
Having an abusive parent is kinda funny in retrospect like mommy why do you have beef with me im 4 i love you
Haters (my dad) can't stand to see a bad bitch (me, nine years old) winning ("drawing too loud")
How do you draw too loud?
Well you see the thing is that child abuse is inherently irrational

Wow. The patience, kindness and calm communication skills. Outstanding.

This made me cry. I wish all situations could be handled as perfectly as this
I just want to point out the core of what the diffuser did in this conversation
They recognized that the mother was also expressing a vulnerable truth about herself - that she felt like a bad mother because her child was expressing gender feelings she wasn’t equipped to help with - and met her where she was, a concerned parent with limited information - to point her where she should be heading, research and resources.
Im going to make more of an effort to stop reflexively pushing people away when they express biases and make more of an effort to hear the underlying fears when i can
“it’s easier to love ourselves when we feel loved as ourselves”
damn that is so powerful though
I really think everyone needs to truly internalize this:
Fictional characters are objects.
They are not people. You cannot "objectify" them, because they have no personhood to be deprived of. They have no humanity to be erased. You cannot "disrespect" them, because they are not real.
I know this has good intentions, so I will just add the "how you treat them, even as objects of fiction, can speak about your own character, be careful out there"
Your addition is actually completely antithetical to my message. It is literally the opposite of what I am conveying.
Stop telling people to encourage the cop inside their head.
How you treat fictional characters, given they are entirely objects of fiction, does NOT necessarily speak to your own character, and you do not need to be "careful".
It is not dangerous to imagine dark things happening to fictional characters. It does not mean you are secretly a bad person. It does not mean you unconsciously want to hurt people in real life. It is not a "slippery slope" to doing bad things to people in real life. You cannot damage your brain or turn yourself into a bad person by consuming "dark" fanfic.
I can write tentacle noncon of my favorite character all day long and be a fierce anti-sexual assault advocate in real life because what I do in my head is not the same thing as what I do in real life.
These tags were too perfect to not include
@lunarr-knows-no-bounds
You put a lot of tags on this post but you started with "this isn't the same as proshipper stuff" and I'm sorry to inform you but this is in fact "proshipper stuff" - except back in the day, we just called it minding your own fucking business.
You used underage fic as your example. Now, disclaimer: I don't like underage fic and it's a huge squick for me. I do the responsible thing and I avoid it. But guess what. If someone writes a fanfic with an underage character having sex with an adult character, they did not hurt that underage character, because that character is not a real human being.
You also said "shipping implies you want these characters to have a relationship in some way". First of all, you follow that by defining "relationship" as "sexual and romantic", which is WILDLY reductive. Which leads me to answer with No, Actually. I do NOT always want characters I ship to have a sexual and romantic relationship. Maybe YOU only ship characters for that reason, but that's not what that term means.
And I'm sorry but if you got yourself into an uncomfortable situation in an rp chatroom, that is not the fault of someone writing and properly tagging a fic on AO3, and it makes it clear how bad-faith your take is and how completely your didn't understand my post.
Chatrooms involve real people interacting with each other. If you are doing roleplay with someone, you have to properly communicate and set boundaries. If that person violates your boundaries, that's on them, and you have every right to be upset.
When you read a fic, the author gives you tags and warnings. It is then up to you to avoid that fanfic. If you violate your own boundaries to read a fic you know will upset you, you've got no one to blame but yourself.
bastille has done more for the queer community by just making all of their love songs about "you" instead of specifying a gender than taylor swift has in all of her discography. thanks for coming to my ted talk.
this post is VERY funny bc it has a fuck ton of likes and like. two reblogs. the fear of the wrath of the swifties is VISCERAL.
📚 A List Of Useful Websites When Making An RPG 📚
My timeloop RPG In Stars and Time is done! Which means I can clear all my ISAT gamedev related bookmarks. But I figured I would show them here, in case they can be useful to someone. These range from "useful to write a story/characters/world" to "these are SUPER rpgmaker focused and will help with the terrible math that comes with making a game".
This is what I used to make my RPG game, but it could be useful for writers, game devs of all genres, DMs, artists, what have you. YIPPEE
Writing (Names)
Behind The Name - Why don't you have this bookmarked already. Search for names and their meanings from all over the world!
Medieval Names Archive - Medieval names. Useful. For ME
City and Town Name Generator - Create "fake" names for cities, generated from datasets from any country you desire! I used those for the couple city names in ISAT. I say "fake" in quotes because some of them do end up being actual city names, especially for french generated ones. Don't forget to double check you're not 1. just taking a real city name or 2. using a word that's like, Very Bad, especially if you don't know the country you're taking inspiration from! Don't want to end up with Poopaville, USA
Writing (Words)
Onym - A website full of websites that are full of words. And by that I mean dictionaries, thesauruses, translators, glossaries, ways to mix up words, and way more. HIGHLY recommend checking this website out!!!
Moby Thesaurus - My thesaurus of choice!
Rhyme Zone - Find words that rhyme with others. Perfect for poets, lyricists, punmasters.
In Different Languages - Search for a word, have it translated in MANY different languages in one page.
