I really need to get new books. I have read through all the ones I owned in the last few days.

No, I havenāt been around the last few weeks. Sticking to the shadows mostly.
Like father, like son. Disappearing for a short while always does the trick, doesnāt it?
As much as I love you coming out here and talking to me and all, Iām afraid you canāt stay for long.
Iāll leave once you answer me why you smell so much like a werewolf. Caleb, were you...turned?
I do not even know where you snatched that child from.
Just go.
That would be easy if she didnāt believe that she was controlled. Iām not going to stop, Charles. Iāll never stop. I didnāt then when I was afraid and I wonāt not. A necromancer is just⦠something Iāve never gone up against. Why? The common goal for our last team up is dealt with. We have get nothing for working together now.
Okay, okay. I see your point. Well, we benefited from Ravennaās help last time, Cassie. Whatās stopping us from asking for her assistance again? Not very many people can successfully go up against a necromancer.
A slight smiled tugged at Gabeās features despite the tension. Their history was hard to ignore, and when Charles spoke like he used to, it helped even less. There had been friendship, near kinship, between them. Partners, allies, and now it was all tainted by the fact that Charles was one of them. Gabe understood why Charles had resisted following the code, he was capable of understanding. He was incapable of tolerating, that was the difference.
āAbout the same amount of innocents that you drained the blood from,ā Gabe retorted. āWas it a shame, sure. But on some counts, on others not so much. Those people, were they really happy? Being forced to live in a town they were imprisoned in? Where they were in constant danger? Death comes for all of us mortals, Charles. They would have died there, or three days later, or twenty seconds later. It matters not. Good or evil, everyone can, and eventually will, die.ā
Charles could not stop himself to wonder what would have happened if the roles were reversed. If Gabriel was the one who turned into a vampire and he the leader of a caravan. Would he do the same thing? Would he stand against a best friend and hunting partner heās known for many years? The answer isnāt always the easiest to come up with. Charles did not stick with the code as strongly as Gabe and even regarded them more as guidelines. He had taken his job seriously, but following those rules didnāt seem appealing.
āYouāre pulling that card out, huh? Thatās just low, even for you. I admit to hitting a few rough patches over the last seven or so months since Iāve been here, but I pulled through like always.ā Charles slowly clenched his fists, his anger slowly rising.Ā āThey wouldāve died eventually? Thatās your excuse for murder? As if you didnāt have a target on your back already.ā Running his hands through his messy curls, he sighed.Ā āGabe, you can stop all of this before any more of the hunters die. I donāt want to see you killed despite your actions. Take everyone and get out of here before youāre hunted down or end up like me. Iām begging you, please.ā
Charles?
Rainbow right?
She gave him her puppies eyes as she laid her head on his lap. The amount of liquid she drank had made her more childish side come out.Ā āI donāt live a perfect life but if this is punishment for something Iāve done. I donāt mind it. i could have worse demons than a Charles Sinclair.ā She laughed and poked his cheek.Ā āI never heard a fairytale before.ā
Rainbow, it is.
Charles uncomfortably shifted his weight on the couch as Nadia rested her head in his lap. He couldnāt imagine what someone would think if they walked into the room this moment.Ā āSee? A Charles Sinclair does not need to be a bad thing to have.ā He kindly smiled. The story he wanted to tell was of his own.Ā āOnce upon a time, there was a young boy, the eldest of five children in the family. He wanted to be a hero and slay monsters and most importantly, save innocent lives. He was happy. That is, until the evil villain of the land kidnapped his sister and locked her in a tower. No matter what the boy did, he just couldnāt save her. And thatās when he set out to vanquish every evil that crossed his path. That little boy did do as he wanted and eventually grew up to marry and have children of his own, children he taught to be brave and heroes like him. He did his job a little too well, however, as he and his oldest son eventually became the thing he sought to stop.ā Charles looked down at Nadia and shrugged.Ā āIām sorry that this fairytale isnāt what you wanted. It doesnāt end happy...for anyone.ā
Charles?
Where is my ice cream?
I must have done something in my previous life ā now come cuddle with me. Iāll be a good girl I promise, I just want you to tell me a story.
I shouldāve brought you some. Sorry, dear.
āAre you certain itās not something you did in the life you have now?ā With a sigh, Charles plopped down on the couch beside Nadia.Ā āWhat story would you like? A happy one?ā
Charles?
Yes. Donāt judge itās not polite.
Well I hate you and you suck at your job, what is your job? destroy Nadia with my dashing good looks and my charming personalty?Ā
Iām not judging.
Oh, of course! I make it my lifeās mission to make yours unbearably agonizing with my physical features and charm. How Iām glad itās working.
Charles?
In my defense ā I had no ice cream.
Why are you so damn charming? ā Charles and that damn face of his. Ā I want to slap it and love it at the same time.
So, you resort to liquor instead. Lovely.
Charming is part of the Sinclair job description, I thought we all popped out like this. Iād appreciate if you didnāt slap me, okay?
Charles?
Where would be the fun in that?
I spot an empty whiskey bottle. Which means you wonāt remember any of this.Ā
[ Nadia to Rina ] Ughhh, Rina. I just had a wet dream about Charles. Damn you and Meg.
[text] Nadia, Iām afraid to inform you this wasnāt meant for me.
[text] Please donāt tell me wet dream means something other than a dream that involves water.
[ text ] you are always to blame.
[ text ] i have no idea what you are talking about. .. Meg lies.
[text] Apologies on my part.
[text] Sweet little Meghan? Oh, no, she canāt be a liar. Tell me the truth.
[ text] Oh Charles, you wound me.
[ text ] you know you want this.
[text] Straight through your heart and Iām to blame.
[text] What I want is to not know you were moaning my name. Meg told me.
[TEXT] Nadia, I don't think Charles would take very kindly to you doing that with your hands...
[text] ......And what is it sheās doing with her hands?
[text] Do I want to know?
[ Nadia to Rina ] Ughhh, Rina. I just had a wet dream about Charles. Damn you and Meg.
[text] Nadia, Iām afraid to inform you this wasnāt meant for me.
[text] Please donāt tell me wet dream means something other than a dream that involves water.
[text] Are you going to be drenched head to toe with liquid? Because thatās a dream come true.
[ text ] Iāll be drenching one head thatās for sure. Ā
[text] It certainly wonāt be mine. Stay away from my nether regions, Nadia.
[Meghan to Nadia] You were moaning Charlie's name last night...
[text] This keeps happening to me.
[text] Now, were these moans of pleasure or displeasure? I have to know.
[Text] Donāt worry Charlie, it was pleasure.
[Text] Nadia could never feel displeasure from you :)
[Text] ⦠I didnāt mean that in a sexual way
[text] Donāt worry? Thatās what I feared.
[text] She reminds me every day, god knows.
[text] I think you meant it exactly how it means.
[Meghan to Nadia] You were moaning Charlie's name last night...
[text] This keeps happening to me.
[text] Now, were these moans of pleasure or displeasure? I have to know.
