Okay so I just rewatched Dead Poets Society and I noticed something I don't think I saw people talking about.
Near the start, Keating mention that all of the boys (and also us) is going to "stop breathing, turn cold and then die"
In this scene, the camera goes on Neil, showing his face clearly.
It's forshadowing, but also it leads to a detail in the end.
In the scene when Neil is about to kill himself, we can hear the song, but there no sounds at all.
Like his footsteps on the stairs, the sound of the door when he opens it.. No sounds
Which, if you think about it, could mean the fact that you stop breathing.
Because when you breath, you make sounds, but the sounds here are suddenly muted, like when you don't breath and stop making sounds
Then comes to the "turn cold".
Here the fact of turning cold is symbolized by Neil openning the window, letting the cold air of winter (also bonus of coldness since it's the winter) inside the house, Neil getting cold as his chest is bare.
Then we have the die part, that I think you see how it goes.
I think it's really interesting when you pay attention to this detail, but let me know what you think! (I love overanalizing the scenes of this movie so much)
(sorry if my english is bad, I'm still french)
