Chartburst Unsigned Track Focus: Dujat
Taken from the current dance chart, Cipher by Dujat (an artist who we have featured previously) is a somewhat abstract piece of electronica that combines intricate layers of metallic melody with contrasting texture and smatterings of synth bass, whilst the fragmented percussion adds a certain dynamism to proceedings.
Wonderfully delicate yet warm throughout, Dujat's use of traditional experimental sounds with modern electronic techniques shows a refreshing creativity that brings to mind the early work of the ever outstanding Fourtet. Check it out here!
Chartburst Unsigned Track Focus: Dujat
Artist: Dujat Track: ColiderWolf
ColiderWolf is a subversive piece of Electronica from Dujat. Warped organ melody provides the narrative backed by an amalgamation of glitchy texture and intricate layers of ambient sound, whilst the subtle yet commanding kick adds a certain structure to proceedings. Click here to check it out!
Chartburst Unsigned Track Focus - Priit A
Artist: Priit A Track: Escape Taken from one of the recent Dance charts, 'Escape' comes courtesy of Estonian producer Priit Aavik, who has featured on the Chartburst blog in the past. Layers of celestial synth, subtle vocal, and blissful piano melody are juxtaposed with the warm bassline, whilst the percussion is delicate yet dynamic.
Beautifully ambient, with a melancholic edge, 'Escape' is an emotive piece of drum n bass, which perfectly encapsulates the feeling of yearning for something more. Check it out here!
Chartburst Unsigned Track Focus: Charlie Leavy
Artist: Charlie Leavy Track: The Way Life Is 'The Way Life Is' is a brilliantly moving piece created by the socially aware and intellectually charged teenager Charlie Leavy. Treading the boards laid down by the likes of Ed Sheeran, Charlie showcases her raw thoughts on life - of how actions lead to consequence and how socially we focus on our own small worlds instead of the bigger picture"...If you wake up every day and you've already closed your mind...stop pretending everything is fine" words that echo true to many both young and old. I love Charlie's clever pop at both the media and her peers in the line "...We should care about the things people need instead of who's best dressed and having sex" subjects that are usually hot topics among friends and teen magazines. If ever teenagers were in need of a jolt to get them thinking about life, they need only to listen to the lyrics of this talented up and coming female. 'The Way Life Is' shows Charlie's excellent writing ability in addition to her voice and guitar skills - which are impressively self taught. With this much talent just waiting to be unleashed onto the world Charlie Leavy is certainly one to keep your eye on.

Chartburst Unsigned Track Focus: Miro Gee & Jacob Crichlow
Artist: Miro Gee & Jacob Crichlow Track: Green Light A standout track from the current pop chart; 'Green Light' is the product of a collaboration between Bulgarian producer Miro Gee and young London singer/songwriter Jacob Crichlow. The result is a compelling piece of soulful pop-electronica, which blends layers of textured synths with Jacob's emotive vocals to create depth and atmosphere, whilst the powerful percussion has an almost industrial quality. Check the track out here. Check them on Chartburst here.
Chartburst Unsigned Track Focus: The Basement Tapes
Artist: The Basement Tapes Track: Release Me Auckland producer The Basement Tapes has been a regular stand out artist on Chartburst with his compelling brand of laid back electronica, and he's at it again with the excellent 'Release Me', taken from the previous dance chart. Beautiful in it's simplicity, the stripped back dubstep influenced percussion combines with the reverb tinged melody, and provides the perfect platform for the emotive female vocal which resonates emphatically throughout. Enjoy! Click here to listen on Chartburst!

Why I built Chartburst...
As a DJ, Producer and part-time promoter, I've always known that music is what I wanted to spend all my waking hours doing! Getting signed was something that I never thought about properly until I took music seriously enough to try and get my music out there. As soon as I did I realised that it may well turn into a seriously boring and soul destroying process of knockbacks, ignored emails and dead-ends. This horrible realisation and the fact that I've been involved with the running of a residential recording studio for 15 years where I've seen countless talented artists come and go, never to hear from them again made me think long and hard about what is still a serious problem...
Chartburst Unsigned Track Focus Artist: Priit A Track: Nature Taken from the previous Dance chart, 'Nature' is a wonderful piece of ambient electronica from Estonian producer Priit A. The layers of echoing synth's and soft percussion are reminiscent of 80's pop and combine beautifully with the passionate vocal, gradually building atmosphere, before a warm bassline is added creating clever contrast for the finale.
Chartburst Unsigned Track Focus: Archetype
Lovely piece of dubstep tinged electronica from Archetype. The clean percussion combines with the understated compressed bassline to set a laid back tempo, whilst the atmospheric melody blends in perfectly with ambient synth lines allowing the passionate female vocals to take precedence. Intelligently produced, the subtle use of layering allows the track to remain simple yet emotive simultaneously. Click here to check it out!
Chartburst Unsigned Track Focus: Hiphop Chart Artist: M.O.B.I.L.E Track: Give It Up Taken from the current hip hop chart, 'Give it up' is a creative piece of RnB tinged Hip Hop from young Arkansas duo M.O.B.I.L.E. Their offbeat rap flows perfectly over the steady percussion and synth melody, which contrasts perfectly with the melodic guitar and soulful vocal of the chorus. Refreshingly positive, this innovative duo avoid the usual materialistic topics favoured by many modern rappers, focusing instead on honest, thought provoking lyrics, an outlook which makes them both unique and relevant. Click here to check it out!
Chartburst Unsigned Track Focus: Dance Chart
Artist: Dancer Track: Early Love Nice experimental track taken from the current dance chart. The sound is built up by adding layers of ambient melody and unique textures which combine with energetic percussion and a passionate vocal to create an atmospheric conclusion. 'Early Love' is both unconventional and expressive and bridges the gap between acoustic and electronic music, utilizing elements from both styles. Check out Early Love on Dancer's Chartburst profile here!
Classic Plastic are a Brighton-based indie/britpop quartet who draw similarities to Blur, Pulp, and The Smiths. They finished at number two in our Indie chart on the first week Chartburst launched. Since then they have received airplay from Tom Robinson on BBC 6 music, John Kennedy on XFM, Toby Lynn on Amazing Radio, and Christian Allen on This is Fake DIY radio. Their video for their radio hit and Chartburst favourite, Bucket & Spade Escapade, was also released.
They have been gigging the small venue circuit in Brighton and around Shadwell and Hackney, and New Cross in London but are about to play Scala with Bloc Party (DJ set) and Everything Everything (DJ set)!
Here is a link to tickets if you're in the London area...

Chartburst Unsigned Track Focus: The Basement Tapes
Artist: The Basement Tapes Track: Runaway Nice piece of chilled dubstep from New Zealand Producer The Basement Tapes, taken from the current dance chart. Runaway is wonderfully simple; the deep piano synth melody and steady drums providing subtle backing for the sweet female vocal, whilst the compressed bass fades in and out gracefully, creating a warm atmospheric vibe. Check out the track here... Review By: Josh Bright (JAC Department)
Chartburst Unsigned Track Focus
Artist: Stompnotes Track: Time Keeper
Great Piece of uplifting dubstep from Melbourne producer Stompnotes. The aggressive compressed bassline dominates the track, contrasting beautifully with the trance influenced synth melody , whilst an offbeat snare gives direction. A second synth line is blended in and out seamlessly, with the echoing vocal providing the narrative.
'Time keeper' is both intricate and energetic, and is an excellent example of the 'new school' dubstep sound championed by the likes of Rustie. Hear more from Stompnotes on Chartburst by clicking here. Review by: Josh Bright (JAC Department)
