“I think it’s probably a very good thing you haven’t met me yet.” Noah said, faking a grin.
Chase raised an eyebrow at the somewhat unexpected response he’d received. “Uh... Maybe I’m missing something here?” He began cautiously, racking his brains to think of what may have deserved that reaction.
“I tend to not talk to creepy guys in bars. Sorry.”
“Ouch.” He complained, his Australian drawl becoming more pronounced with the single drawn out syllable. “What have I done to deserve that?” He asked innocently.
“Oh, I don’t really know. But it’s nice to meet you to. This place has really good burgers and french fries and I like it.”
“It cerainly is.” He agreed with a grin. “I’ll have to take your word on it, this is my first time visiting this place.” He admitted, shooting the other a smile. “I’m Chase by the way.”
“I don’t know, shame on your part. I’m probably the best person you’re ever going to meet.”
“Oh I’m not going to even try disputing that fact.” He assured the other with a grin, spinning his barstool around to face the other. “Do I get a name to go with that chiselled jaw of yours?”
“Do these pants make me look fat?”
“No... but your arse looks absolutely fantastic.”
“How have I not had the pleasure of making your acquaintance yet?”
“Good, now we both admire me” She joked, watching him step closer. “The fun would come from you making me laugh” She said, winking at him. “I won’t push it though, you’re the captain after all”
“Oh I highly doubt I’m the only one admiring you.” He assured her with a lazy smile. “Well, I’m sure I could do that in a number of ways.” He whispered conspiratorially. “Ah, pulling rank... I like it.”
“I’d never. Surely you haven’t mistaken me as someone who can be a damsel in distress,” Addison feigned a tone of surprise, aware that she’s by definition a damsel but rejecting the idea of being in distress. “I’m jealous, I’ve been on all too many boats and I never learned a damn thing about them. Your father must have given you a fine pair of sea legs then,” She replied, not digging into parents because that’s not necessary for their afternoon. “It’s a true gift of mine. Sounds like a lovely island though, we can surely have an adventure there.”
“I’m sure.” He teased with a laugh. “And what am I as a lifeguard if not a knight in shining armour?” He asked innocently. “I’ve got to romanticise life somehow..” He joked. “Well you’ve obviously been holding out for the best teacher then.” He began teasingly. “Get over here and I’ll show you the basics.” He promised, gesturing for her to come closer. “Yeah...” He began, not willing to attribute his seaworthiness to his arse of a father. “An adventure sounds like just the thing we need.” He agreed, lips quirking up into a grin at the promise.
“You definitely adore more than detest,” Cade corrected without hesitation, setting the get-well-flowers he bought on the table. “What happened?”
“When I fucked you, maybe...” He began teasingly, his face lighting up as he spotted the flowers. “Aww... You’re a doll.” He told him with a laugh. “Alright alright... Definitely more on the adoration side of the scale.” He agreed, nose wrinkling as the question was repeated. “I may have had a run in with the brother of a girl whose heart I broke...”
“Hey, woah woah.. Don’t go too far,” she warned, not daring to look away from facing forward. “I still have no idea what I’m doing!”
“Nah... I think you’re doing just fine.” He promised her, stepping behind her before he put his hands on the outside of each of hers, helping her to manoeuvre the ship. “What do you think? A good place to dock?”
“I can’t say the thought of constantly traveling ever really interested me,” she shrugged but turned to him, giving him a smile. “I’m sure it’s fun but I prefer to stay in places that I’m familiar with..” She trailed off, only turning towards him when he pulled her towards him. Valencia smiled and let her arms lift up, resting around his neck. “Well it’s a good thing that it isn’t awkward, huh?” She teased him with a grin before she leaned in, pressing her lips softly against his.
He laughed softly at her admission, shaking his head lightly. “Might be an Australian thing for me though...” He began, looking at her to see if she was interested in him continuing. “The furthest I ever went as a kid was the other side of Australia... Here, everything is so close. It makes the idea of travelling a lot easier and more interesting.” He explained. “Well maybe if you travelled with someone you were familiar with it’d be different...” He murmured, voice becoming huskier. As she let her arms rest around his neck, a soft smile slipped across his lips and he nodded his agreement, resting his forehead against hers before their lips met.
“I suppose I just get tired to wait for the good parts to come to me, so I just go and get them.” She replied, smiling. “My bad, but it’s true isn’t it? Tell me one good joke”
“Well, I have to admit I do find go-getters extremely admirable too...” He murmured, taking a step closer to her. “Hardly... I suppose I could, but where’s the fun in that?” He asked cheekily.
She bit down on her lip and focused on where she was going, slowly easing herself into it, her stance relaxing with ever passing minute. “I’ll leave the parking to you,” she agreed, giving him a smile before she turned back to look forward. “This isn’t too scary..”
He took a step back from the wheel, leaving her entirely in charge of the boat as he watched her in amusement, grinning as she slowly relaxed and grew more and more comfortable. “Sounds like a deal to me.” He promised her, smiling gently at her before he too looked forward. “See? You’re a natural.”
“Come on,” she grinned and began to lead him towards the infirmary. “I’ll have to tell you whenever he’s around or home.. He’s a wanderer and tends to not stick around in one place for too long,” she smiled faintly, an air of fondness surrounding her words as she spoke of her twin, but the smile grew happily at his words. “I was only teasing you.. Of course I know who it is,” she responded. Hesitating for a moment, she reached over at took his hand gingerly as the walked, giving him another shy smile.
“Alright alright...” He conceded, walking alongside her with a soft smile playing on his lips. “Yeah, sounds good.” He agreed, his grin growing. “I know the sort... I feel like that’ll be me in a few years though... After I’m done with uni, I’d love to just travel, y’know?” He asked, having romanticised the idea for years. He ducked his head at her later words, a smile growing in reaction to her words too. “I’m glad... Otherwise this could have gotten very awkward...” He murmured, reaching for her hand, he tugged her to a stop and pulled her towards him.
“I can’t help with the pain, but the healers probably can. They’ll fix you up in no time,” she offered him a weak smile. “Kol is a lot like me.. I’m sure you’d get along with him just as you have with me. But hey, it was just an offer.. I understand why and truthfully, I’m a little relieved because I probably would have to return he favor and I’m not ready for my doings to be up in the air,” she smiled again at him, quirking an eyebrow. “Who might that be?”
“Yeah, come on then boss... Take me to them.” He sighed dramatically, before he shot her another grin and rose to his feet. “Well... We’ll see when I finally meet him.” He promised, heading after her as they walked leisurely towards the Hospital Wing. “Thanks...” He told her softly, a smile accompanying his words at her understanding. He chuckled slightly at her words, shrugging slightly as his cheeks coloured red slightly. “I think you must know. And if not, I’m obviously not doing a very good enough job at impressing her if I’m not even worthy of remembering.” He teased.
Ingrid let out a small chuckle, “It was intense, but we did learn quite a bit.” She shrugged, trying to focus on the positives. “Yes, Will,” she nodded, raising an eyebrow in confusion at the mention of Charlie. “Is something wrong with that?” Ingrid questioned, frowning in confusion. “You could’ve told me that before,” she teased, wiping at her mouth as the blush crept back onto her cheeks. “I wasn’t worried, just doing my best to keep up.” Ingrid smiled, following each word of guidance.
“Well I guess that’s all that matters in the end.” He mused, shooting her another grin. “Ah right... And no- not at all.” He promised her reassuringly. “I just... know... Charlie better than Will is all.” He explained with a chuckle, rubbing his jaw unintentionally at the memory. “Okay...” He laughed, biting down on his lip to stop. “I promise I’ll give you all instructions ahead of time, now.” He assured her. “You’re doing great- they call this type of swimming the doggy paddle.” He told her with a teasing smile. “It’s great for beginners, but it’s not very quick and it tires you out...”
“Do you really think it is? I should really work on it then” She said smiling back at him. “Woah, so you may be easy on the eyes but you really need to work on your jokes”
“Sure... Who doesn’t like someone who can wait for the good parts?” He asked innocently. “Hey! I resent that...” He complained with a laugh. “I’ve got excellent jokes!” He insisted.
