Olivia gladly hugged Chase back tightly. It had been way too long since she had seen the boy who was supposed to be her best friend. She slid down on the bench next to him, giddy when he asked her why she was home. “I’m officially three years cancer-free today. My dad insisted I come home to celebrate when I told him. What about you? Shouldn’t you be off in California?” She lifted an eyebrow, curious. She knew how hard Chase worked at school, he wouldn’t just leave without a good reason.
Chase smiled as she sat down next to him, but his jaw dropped at her statement. That was probably the first pit of really good news he'd heard in a long time. "That's fantastic, Liv!" He was completely full of joy at that that he had to hug her again. "Seriously Liv, that's probably the best news I've heard in a long, long time." His smile wasn't falling, because he just couldn't seem to let it fall. It wouldn't seem right, and he didn't want it gone. He didn't really have an answer to that, because he didn't have a great answer. "Well, I came home for spring break, and decided to finish my year online. You know, take a break. That's when I remembered how much I didn't want to be back here." He chuckled, shaking his head.

“Congratulations, Ms. Chang,” Olivia’s doctor said with a pleased smile on his face as he shut her folders and tucked them under his arm. “You are officially three years cancer free.” Olivia’s face immediately lit up at those words. She was healthy and had actually made it three years without getting her cancer again. She remembered the time when she had no possible outlook but dying. Now that was a distant memory for Olivia.
Naturally, she had called her dad up right after the appointment who, overjoyed, insisted she return home to celebrate with her mother and Hayden. Happy to oblige, she hopped on the first plane she could get back to Ohio and spent a whole day just celebrating the fact that she was okay, and had been okay for a while.
After an extravagant meal planned out by her mother, Olivia slipped out of the house, just exploring the town she grew up and hadn’t seen in too long. In her travelings, she found her way to the park, spotting a figure sitting on a bench on the other side. She decided to go see whoever it was, and since Lima was a frighteningly small town, there was a good chance she knew them. And she was definitely right. As the figure came into the light, Olivia recognized him to be Chase. She grinned, and moved quickly to him. “Chase!”
Chase was sitting there, almost too wrapped up in his thoughts to hear the person yelling his name. Barely hearing it, he looked up to see who it could possibly be, and to his complete overjoy, it was Olivia. "Hey, Liv." He said, trying to mimic her enthusiasm and coming up short. He just put a smile on his face and hugged her even though she hadn't hugged him yet. "Come on, sit, sit." he said, patting the spot next to him on the bench. Of all the people in Lima, he was glad that Liv had found him. It made being here just a bit better. "What brings you home? It's been far too long " He had to ask, since he knew that she wasn't in Lima for college.

Chase wanted to get out of his parent's house, the walls and features starting to close in on him, or at least that's how he felt. He'd stayed in Lima a lot longer than he originally intended, but his college was understanding. They set him up with the online program for the last half of the semester, and he'd only need to fly back out for the finals which were in two weeks anyways. It was weird though, living back home with his mom and dad. They were taking care of things he'd been doing for years now, so it took a bit of adjusting to having a bed made for him and food already prepared. He didn't mind though, not one bit. It was more just odd.
Closing his laptop, the blonde sighed, having seen enough of his psychiatry workload. He was halfway done with the five essays he'd been assigned while home, and he needed to just leave. He didn't care where he went, as long as it was out. The only problem was that almost everywhere he went, he was reminded of something. The park, the restaurants, hell, even the streets where full of memories he was trying to forget. Why had he stayed? It would have been easier if he left and never returned. No more pain. No more memories. No more anything.
He made it to the park, sitting down on one of the benches and sighing. How had this happened? How had he grown to hate going back to the place that was supposed to be his home? Were those memories too horrible for him to deal with anymore. He sighed, knowing the answer to that; yes. He knew why he hated coming here, and he knew why he never wanted to again, which was why when it was time to go back to California, he wasn't ever coming back.
Planking hurts your back... lol.
chocolate by death - long overdue || Chase & Celia
Celia: "Damn Chase," said, coughing for a moment before the burn went away. "It's been a while since I've done straight shots of this stuff." Eyes squint as she tries to see the label of the bottle, unsure of what she's taking shots of. "I thought you stopped drinking?" suddenly asks, eyes whirling towards Chase, causing the room to spin a bit.
Chase: sighs as the burn of the alcohol runs down his spine, warming him up all over. "Same here." He says, holding onto the kitchen counter for a second as the room spun. He should slow down, so he decides to not take another shot quite yet. He bites the inside of his lip at the question, nodding his head. "Well, I did, but circumstances changed my mind for the night."
Watching Scooby Doo with Mika,
I could totally afford to skip a few classes next week and come down.
Honestly, that'd be amazing. I miss everyone from back home.
Watching Scooby Doo with Mika,
Maybe I’ll come visit soon.. I need a tan.
You should. I rarely see anyone living all the way out here.
Watching Scooby Doo with Mika,
I’ve been great, thanks! Geez, I haven’t talked to you in awhile. How’s school? And Cali?
That's wonderful haha. And yeah, it really has been a while. School's, well, school lol, and Cali is wonderful.
Watching Scooby Doo with Mika,
Oh, it is. Just add in a Skype conversation with the boyfriend and I’m all set!
Hey, Chase! How’ve you been?
Sounds like an ideal day.
I'm doing alright. How 'bout you?
Watching Scooby Doo with Mika,
While eating Scooby Snacks. I’d say this was a pretty good morning!
Well doesn't that sound like a particularly fun day.
Hey, Maria.
chocolate by death - long overdue || Chase & Celia
Celia: "Um," eyes drop down to the shot glass, and eyebrow popping up before glancing up at Chase, watching him take a hit. "Okay," finally says, downing the shot, face scrunching as it burns.
Chase: forgot just how much he enjoyed the burn his throat had when he drank, and knew he wouldn't be going three years without it ever again. Two shots and he was already slightly light headed. That's when he took a bite of his sundae to try and not get too drunk too quick.
chocolate by death - long overdue || Chase & Celia
Celia: Grins, before holding the glass up. "To Poppa K." Chinks the glass with Chase, before knocking it back.
Chase: tips backwards and drinks the shot, a familiar burn running down his throat. He hasn't felt that in a long time, and he's hesitant to say he's missed it. Pouring another two, he hands Cel back her glass and downs his. Damn, this was going to be one hell of a night.
chocolate by death - long overdue || Chase & Celia
Celia: Nods, unable to deny the statement. "He really was."
Chase: thinks for a moment, knowing what he wants to do but hasn't done it in over 3 years. Saying screw it, he gets up and grabs some vodka from his parent's cabinet. They won't notice it's gone anyways. He takes out two shot glasses and pours one for each of them. "To Mr. Hummel-Anderson." He holds up his glass.
