Saturday night at The Homestead in San Francisco- 5 hours of records to kick off the summer!
East coast 45s unearthed and on their way back to SF with me- some on my want list and others brand new to me- Thrills, Flashcubes, Stiv Bators, Marbles, Vinny, The Rentals, Radio Birdman, The Marshalls, The Damned, The Green Telescope, DMZ, The Reactors.
Saturday night in San Francisco- Lotsa new goodies to lay on you- see ya there!
The heatwave continues this Saturday in SF, tasty 70s and 80s vinyl selections all night.
Your rock 'n roll oasis on a San Francisco Saturday.
Circle Jerks, The Lewd, Wasted Youth and Revenge at Bleak's Hall in San Francisco October 10, 1981.
Here's The Lewd at the Fab Mab from the same year:
Music to drive you ape this Saturday at the Homestead?
Now that NYE is out of the way, let's get back to some real fun!
Late career Ronnie Self, once coined "Mr. Frantic" for his wild stage presence and scorching rockabilly 45s like "Bop-A-Lena", "Ain't I'm A Dog", "Pretty Bad Blues" and others. I had "high" hopes for an unknown rocker when I dug this up- Ronnie Self produced by none other than Dale "Suzie Q" Hawkins, but here he sounds more like Lorenzo St. DuBois from Mel Brooks' The Producers.
I still love it- rockers can be a dime a dozen, but weird is priceless.
Dig these lyrics (and the sound effects): Green hickory wood will make your fireplace pop/But man try to tell that to a Frisco cop/He choked me with my beads and shoved me down for pot/And said that long strong daddy was going to blow my top/He finally hauled me in for possession of.../Love... and a pocket knife/And I was only high on life
I'd rather be spinning records this weekend...
It's been awhile since I've had a good score out digging- some goodies from this weekend that may have come from legendary Bay Area KSAN R&B DJ Ol "Jumpin" George (at least the Marigolds 45). Killer stuff, thanks, George!
The birthday parties continue- next up we celebrate Dema on her big 60th year on our little planet.
Bad music for bad people- So It Goes (usually first Saturdays) will be gothing it up a night early for all you creatures of the night.
more music more music more music
Saturday night in San Francisco- Punk, Post Punk, Power Pop, Paisley Underground and OMFUG, all vinyl starting at 9pm.
Back to back So It Goes this Saturday and next- Al's birthday is up first with a special Dunedin Sound (and more) edition.
Vacation's over- it's back to cool.
