Kelly was born and raised in Louisiana and has a pretty big family with a twin brother and two younger siblings, her parents are still married (even though they don’t act like it), they are both big time lawyers, so they were never really present. She was practically raised by her aunt, they are still pretty close and can’t stay more than a few days without talking with each other.

Her grandparents owned a lot of farm land throughout Louisiana and Texas, where she spent almost of her summer vacations at, so she absolutely adores the country side and has a dream of moving somewhere quiet when she’s older.

“hm, i’m actually a little fiscally challenged. that’s how i say poor in a fancy way,” he jokes with a small smile as they walk. “chilli dog? damn, i don’t know if i can handle that. i’m a plain jane, a ketchup kinda guy.”

she had a stupidly big grin on her face and let out a short but hysterical laugh, he was funny, and she was actually enjoying the conversation, “well, i’m from louisiana, so if the food isn’t spicy, why bother.”

squeezing her hand in response with a soft smile. the early days of their friendship were spent complaining about being the forgotten daughters of their parents, “ well you’re more than welcome to take annabelle for a spin anytime you’d like. she’s been a lot nicer since she got sick, bodie thinks facing her mortality has made her a better person but i don’t know. ” she shrugged as they walked into the sandbar.

“people say that happens a lot, i’m pretty sure that there’s a tim mcgraw song about it,” she stated matter-of-factly and opened a small smile, “and how’s she doing?” he sat down at the bar and waved to the bartender, “two whiskeys and two tequila shots.”

“right, so what i’m hearing is that i just need to find someone to pay me for it?” he asks although he’s not serious, an amused expression on his face. easily impressed, he liked a girl who could appreciate a good hotdog and pressing the cap onto his pen, “then lets go, i’m already dealing with enough crazy, can’t have you going crazy on me too for the small price of a hotdog.”

“if you can find someone to pay for that, yeah.” she knew he was joking but went along anyway, and her smile grew wider with the promise of food, “i never say no to a good hotdog, especially with chili.”

he did like rocks, that wasn’t a lie. “an amateur? what about a pro?” sounded more impressive, he notes it down with a wide-eyed, instant grin. “then i’ll put, very good at networking, i do love socialising… expert caterer… i can eat a lot of hotdogs,” he laughs.

“if you don’t get paid for it, you’re not a pro - just a guy with an adorable hobby.” she was glad that her random knowledge was actually helping someone and opened a small smile, “that’s some interesting paraphrasing, and dude why did you say that? now i’m crazy for a hotdog.”

“ if i didn’t know any better i’d think you wanted to be my friend or something. ” rolling her eyes with a playful smile, “ and she adores you, sometimes i think even more than me, every i get a call from her it’s all how’s kels doing tell her momma and daddy hi for us. you’re going to need a lot of whiskey before i start talkin’ about my feelings. ”

“ha ha ha, as if.”   she went along, she went along,   “well, i wish my parents would care about me as much as yours do… next time i talk to them, i’ll let ‘em know.”   she hadn’t talked to them in weeks, they might be on vacation, she didn’t really know, or cared.   “and don’t worry, we are drinking a lot.”

randomly pulling out a notebook as he leans against a wall beside her, “that’ll do,” he remarks, a pen pulled from behind his ear, “i’ve decided to run for student council president and i need your help to embellish my abilities. not like, lie, just make it sound fancier. like… how do you make collecting rocks sound cool?”

“rock collecting, huh? that’ll definitely get you my vote,”   she mocked him, but did find it interesting,   “a guy that works with rocks is a geologist, maybe an amateur geologist?”

“ now you’re speaking my language. ” she grinned taking the girl’s hand. “ i knew i liked you for a reason. oh - ” snapping as she remembered something, “ remind me to take you to my room later my mom sent me a care package and there’s a bunch of stuff for you. ”

“great to see that smile back on your face,”   she opened up a smile herself,   “i absolutely adore your mom, and remind me to get you drunk enough to tell me what’s wrong.”

kelly was walking down the hallway when she heard asher calling her,   “hey, ‘sup?”   she answered and turned to face him,   “i’m not super brainy, i just pay attention in class - what do you need?”

     his roommate was up in the middle of the night again with all her silly computers on. link wanted to sleep, but the test in the morning and the blinding lights forced him up and out of their shared room.      the one place he could always rely on during late nights was the ship’s world map room.      his puffy slippers marched through the halls of the ship and to the room, papping as he went.      sure enough, when he arrived, it was exactly as he had left it last time. baron. boring. totally devoid of all excitement and traffic, so long as you were not yourself a sailor.      link took a deep breath, staring up at the maps around the room. the books in his arms slumped as he let out that breath. he looked at the maps and studied them well. one day, he would be sailing those very seas.      “no more link, no more ‘new kid’… they’ll call me captain seongho.” he whispered.      he heard something and jumped! he gasped with wide eyes. his books clenched to his chest tightly. “h-how… what’re you doing here?”

it was late at night, and kelly still had to finish studying, so she left her roommate sleeping and went to the world map room, which was usually quiet, to get some work done.

she was sitting in the corner far from the doors when she heard someone come in and start talking to themselves,   “captain seongho from now on, huh?”   she teased,   “i had to study, and my roommate was sleeping… what are you doing here?”

“wanna place bets on where we go next ? ”  river asks, nudging the person beside them at the sandbar with their elbow. “you’d think after months of living on a ship, i’d have some sort of idea of what direct the thing moves in, but i have no clue.”  they waved the bartender over and then turned to the person beside them again, “what are you drinking tonight ? ”    ( open starter  /  @seasstarts· ) 

“i’m just as clueless as you are - i am hoping on australia though, but i also have no idea how this ship works… maybe we should just get a compass.”   she teased him with a smile and turned to the bartender,   “i’ll start with tequila.”
