Re-reading Of Giants and Ice, and my heart is aching for Chase. In the breadbox, Lena says that some of the bones are Fey. Chase was locked in a Fey crypt during his childhood, so the bones that were in the breadbox would've been the same kind of bones in the crypt. The poor thing wasn't just scared like Rory was, he was having like genuine PTSD. He literally didn't even get a break after that either! He immediately had to continue questing like it was nothing. I know that happens in the last book too, but he was literally like 11 years old 😭😭😭

“We are not friends,” I told Chase again, and he glared at me through a mask of crumbs and icing. vs

“We are not friends right now,” I said. He could’ve tackled me to get his sword back. He could have knocked my legs out from under me. He didn’t try to do either, so I rest my blade against his throat.

The whole room had gone silent.

My fury drained away. I wanted to send them all out of the room- I didn’t want anyone witnessing Chase like this.

I’d never seen that look on his face, not even when he found out how his brother had died in the Snow Queens dungeons. I’d never seen him look so pale and defeated.

Wow!! I love how many people are still invested in this series! Since more than like two people saw this, I figured I’d share a few of the many ideas that inspired this drawing :) and please feel free to tag or comment your own thoughts on the trio in high school, I would love to hear other people’s takes!

That’s just Rory’s resting face

Much to the chagrin of her mom, Amy, and Brie; Rory loves tactical cargo shorts. Her mom kept getting rid of them, but stopped once she realized that Rory had begun wearing Chase’s…with hideous patterned belts to keep them up.

Rory joins the soccer team and becomes the MVP pretty quickly. She then starts to garner attention from both her classmates and the paparazzi. To avoid the limelight, she abandons soccer. This cycle repeats for every sport that Rory is vaguely interested in.

Lena gets into fashion with the intent to disguise her ‘golden gloves’ (and to try looking a little older) but actually ends up enjoying maximalism as a style. She later gets the ‘best dressed’ award in their senior yearbook

Chase finds out he *loves* cooking and baking. Soon enough, muffins for their resident sorceress and home-cooked picnic dates with his girlfriend, become the norm. However, in the beginning of his cooking journey, Chase suuucked at it. Growing up as a prince and then living off of the table of plenty, meant Chase never really had to cook for himself. So for a while, Rory and Lena played a desperate game of ‘ditch the deadly food without hurting our friend’s feelings’ pretty consistently.

Rory doesn’t lose the snow queens handprint. She swears it feels warm whenever the weather gets too cold.

The triumvirate often go on weekend assignments to areas impacted by the war, either to deal with roaming remains of the snow queen’s army, or to wave Rory around like a diplomatic bargaining chip when refugees need help relocating.

I’ve become re-obsessed over the last few weeks so I’ve got lots of headcannons about them, lemme know if you guys wanna hear more ig!

Okay, so Lena said that when Kyle took her hand and kissed her the only thing she could think is that she'll never be able to feel him holding her hand. Ouch, that's awful, my heart. BUT. She also said that having solid gold hands is really heavy and she can't exactly put them down. BUT. If Kyle held her hands while they were standing up, I think he could take some of the weight off of her, and that would be adorable. I love them so much.

I read the ever afters series as a middle schooler and really related to those rowdy teens. So when I found an old (and terrible) sketch of them in my closet, I took a weekend to reread the series (don’t know how I managed to find it) and decided to redraw it!

So here they are in their high school years, getting yelled at by the Canon for doing something I’m sure was heroic and stupid.
