I wish people could just say how they feel like ‘Hey I really don’t like when you do that to me’ or ‘Hey I’m in love with you’ or ‘Hi I really miss you and I think about you all the time’ without sounding desperate. Why can’t everyone be painfully honest and just save people the trouble.
Maybe you lost someone you never thought you’d lose. Maybe you lost yourself, and that’s even worse. When you have bad days that just won’t let up, I hope you look in the mirror and remind yourself of what you are and what you are not. You are not your mistakes. You are not damaged goods from your failed explorations. You are not the opinion of someone who doesn’t know you. You are someone who is wiser because you made mistakes. You are your own definition of beautiful. You are someone who survived a bunch of rainstorms and kept talking. What I’ve learned is that walking through a lot of rainstorms doesn’t make you damaged. It gets you Clean.
