This is a cost free resort for kids with life-threatening illnesses/defects/diseases. My brother visits his star & this wonderful place every once in awhile. He can swim.. laugh.. play around.. and he loves that this is a place for kids like him. Hes so special & going here makes him beyond happy. I appreciate the volunteers here b/c they go the extra mile for the kids.

The Surprisingly Common World of Heart Defects

Congenital heart defects is the leading cause of birth-defect related death with 1% of children are born with a CHD (40,000 babies in the U.S. per year). 1/3 of infants born with a CHD need life-saving treatment in their first year of life considering the median age of CHD related deaths is 1 year old. Today more than 1 million American adults are living with a CHD.

Thanks to all the nurses & my baby brothers surgeon Redmond Burke.. Everything went great during his surgery today.. Atleast now he’s getting enough oxygen. Robert was born a blue baby & was diagnosed with D-TGA, VSD, PS, LSVC.. he also has a few other problems.. since then we’ve been going to Miami Children’s Hospital for 3 open heart surgeries & plenty of procedures.. each time we know that he’s in the best care & will be fine. From hearing the words "Code Blue" to now being reassured that he will be fine is such a great thing. He’s now 11 & I couldnt be more grateful to everyone who has stuck by his side throughout all these years
