How to get customers to post positive reviews and is it unethical?
Let me begin by asking a simple question. How many of you who have shopped for products or services online, and are satisfied with the product/service, gone back to the website from where you have bought it and left a positive review?
I am sure that not even 1% of the satisfied users would be going back to leave genuine positive reviews.
And, on the contrary, if the product/service is disappointing, how many of the buyers would go and post a negative review? Definitely it will be a much higher percentage than those who are expected to leave a positive review.
Now, the question is what shall the online business do in order to save its reputation online since the number of negative reviews would surely be far more than the positive ones. Shall it not adopt a proactive approach to ask the satisfied customers to post their happy reviews? If yes, then it will require approaching them through email, phone, Whatsapp or any other communication method. And, if and when such a method is adopted, is it unethical?
Do the negative reviews make a company illegitimate, or a scam? Simple answer is NO. There is a lot more to it than a simplistic assumption that the company is bad.
