Immanuel. God is with us. The broken, the crushed, the rejected, the lonely, those who can’t go home, those who have to relive things that hurt, those who struggle to make rent, those who can’t remember what it’s like to believe. He’s with us.

To love another person is to see the face of God.

My grandfather passed away earlier today (Christmas Day) at 4:15pm. Please say a prayer for the repose of his soul and ask the Lord to bless my grieving family with comfort and strength. We are doing well under the circumstance and have lots of support, but it's a very difficult time. Thank you.
(3/3) “I had to go back to everyone I knew and tell them that the actress decided not to wear my clothes. The stylist sent back all ten pieces. I was so embarrassed. I felt like a failure. I got so depressed that I had to move out of the city for a few months and live with my sister in Maryland. I’ve been doing a lot of praying and going to church. And I feel at peace now. I think that God knew I wasn’t ready for success. If my career had taken off then, I’d have thought it was from my own strength. I was feeling too proud. I needed to remember where my talent came from. I’ve been praying so much. And I’m in a good place now. I’m ready to start moving forward again. And it’s really unbelievable that I just ran into you. Because I just came into the city for the afternoon to buy some fabric.”
The Catholic Church is not Misogynistic
As a Catholic woman, it is incredibly frustrating to hear that my religion is misogynistic. Not only does this discredit my own critical thinking abilities, but saying that the Catholic Church is misogynistic is straight up wrong.
I am told that I am the pinnacle of creation. When God made man, He said it was “good;” when God made woman, He said it was “very good.”
I am told that God lovingly chose me.
I am told that I am beautiful for my soul.
I am reminded that anything I do could never make God love me any less, but following His will is what leads to true happiness.
I am reminded that no matter how bad my past is, God forgives me long before I forgive myself.
I am given the most incredible role model who is respected greatly in the Church: Mary.
My femininity is celebrated.
I am encouraged to practice modesty and chastity above all else out of love for myself.
I am told that I am a sacred vessel.
My differences from men are not seen as deficiencies.
My fertility is treated as a gift, but I am also provided resources on how to manage that gift in a healthy way.
My sexuality is not suppressed; I am taught on how to use it in ways to glorify God and ultimately have a better relationship with my future husband.
I am reminded of how greatly I am loved, but I am also encouraged to seek humility.
I have never been told that I need to have x number of children to be a proper Catholic.
I have never been told that I must be a stay-at-home mom by the Catholic Church; in fact, at my and my fiance’s first marriage prep session, our priest talked about a man who was a stay-at-home dad for his 7 children and how that decision was up to my future husband and I.
I actually feel more valued as a woman and empowered in the Catholic Church than anywhere else.
What makes me feel less valuable as a woman is being told that I am too blind to think critically about my own religion, being told that I am a prude, being told that I should cover myself for the men’s sake before considering my own benefits of practicing modest, and being told that I must be the same as men to be equally as valued.
Learning more about what it means to be a Catholic woman makes me incredibly grateful that I am a woman, and even more grateful that I am Catholic.

Hello dear Tumblr Friends, I'm sorry I have been away for so long; life has been quite crazy for the last little while. I would greatly appreciate your prayers because tomorrow will be a difficult day. I will post an update soon. God bless you all!
Joan of Arc John Everett Millais
Every single time I’ve lowered my guard, dropped my pride, and approached God confessing my need for him, he meets me. He never turns me away, embarrasses me, or rejects my vulnerability. He relentlessly extends himself to us and willingly restores our identity in Christ. Don’t be confused–our identity is secure. It’s not security He’s restoring, but our mindset so we can live in the boldness that comes with knowing who we are. It’s a heavy proclamation, but it’s true–that we have been made the righteousness of Christ.

Saint Maximilian Kolbe
“Today let us just resolve never to hold a grudge, since in the Our Father we say ‘and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.’ We must guard against disliking others and insulting them. Love for others consists in serving them and putting up with their faults. We must pay a price for the virtue of love with our own cost.“

Show me your hands. Do they have scars from giving? Show me your feet. Are they wounded in service? Show me your heart. Have you left a place for Divine Love?

So as I mentioned in a previous post, I recently started dating my best guy friend! I am *thrilled* to be starting this exciting chapter of my life, and I have learned a lot already in this short time, so I thought I would share:
1. Things can be awkward in the beginning of a relationship even if you have been friends for years. It is mostly exciting but also kind of weird to get to know this special person in a new context. When I acknowledged how nervous and excited I was, he shared that he was nervous too especially the first time he held my hand. It was pretty cute and we had a good laugh about it!
2. You will probably find yourself thinking about your new relationship way too much at first. I was in shock for about 3 days when I realized the guy I have been lowkey crushing on for over a year likes me back and that we are now dating. I literally couldn’t fall asleep I was so excited!
3. You may constantly question whether you are being a good gf/bf at first. I was sooo shy about holding hands in the beginning and I felt badly that I never would initiate it, but the best thing to do is talk about it. You are two different people, from two different backgrounds, with two different sets expectations for what dating looks like. Communication is soooo important, even if it feels awkward to bring up at first.
4. You will learn so much about yourself that you didn’t even know! Until you are actually in a relationship, you may not realize how sensitive or guarded you are and it is interesting to learn how you behave in a new context. Hopefully it is for the better if you are with the right person! :)
