Everything I think we know about The Almighty and his host (spoilers for THE RED WINTER)
Iâm an atheist, and Iâm not even one of those people whose super into the rich history of religion, so if it looks like idk wtf Iâm talking about, then thatâs the truth, BUT, I find the blending of real life religion with fiction in this book SO cool, and Michael was one of the most entertaining characters to me, so here, Iâve made this list, to try and hash out what we know!
Based on these two screenshots, I think itâs safe to assume that this universes Jesus was a half breed of some kind. Yeah, probably not a succubus. I would also assume that biblical figures such as Jesus and Moses were at one time hosts for The Almighty, given that they were able to perform miracles.
(ââââââââââââââââââââââââ)
Next, we see that for spirits like Sarmodel and Avstamet, and even Micheal, that in order to take the anima of any given thing, the spirit needs to be present and in reach of said life force, however, it appears that The Almighty has created a way to take the anima of his disciples without being present.
And, to connect to my point above with Moses being a host, we know that spirits doing anything magical costs them a great deal of anima, so this is probably an excellent way for The Almighty to comfortably be able to perform miracles like turning water into wine or parting the Red Sea without having to slaughter a bunch of people first. That being said, (and correct me if Iâm wrong, Iâve never read the Bible) but Iâm not sure when prayers like this one became common practice in Christianity, and Iâm pretty sure by that point in Mosesâ journey, that God had just killed all the first born sons in Egypt, right?? So even if he hadnât created this magic anima loophole yet, he probably had all that anima to work with when he performed his miracles with Moses.
This one is pretty self explanatory
Although, assuming that "The Father of Lies" indeed refers to Satan, itâs interesting that Michael still has so much animosity for this specific spirit, in a way he doesnât seem to have for Avstamet. Probably due to Satan being a fallen angel in the Bible, so he likely betrayed The Almighty and Michael in a very personal way. Idk man Iâm not that knowledgeable on the Bible I just think this book is awesome.
While Sebastian seems to think the existence of hell is improbable, it appears that something like heaven is still on the table?
(ââââââââââââââââââââââââ)
It appears, though, that Sarmodel is skeptical of the whole Heaven thing. Possibly because itâs impossible for Michael and the other Angels to prove that it exists to beings that are still alive.
Alright now hereâs a big one, and it comes with a bit of theorizing. In this universe I think itâs pretty implied that many of, if not all of the events as told in the Bible are indeed reality. Here, Sebastian even sites the Bible as truth.
While here, Sebastian implies that The Almighty created humanity, as he pleads to Micheal to save the lives of these humans.
The last thing we know for sure (but Iâll add more stuff if I continue to find things on my reread) is that The Almighty is currently asleep.
(ââââââââââââââââââââââââ)
It seems to me that Micheal and the other angels (probably) are spreading the gospel and gathering all this anima in the hopes to wake their father.
My last note for now is something that Iâm confused about, so please if you have an explanation, let me know :)
As seen above, it looks as though humanity was created by The Almighty, however, in that last screenshot, Avstamet claims that The Almighty will be enjoying a world they made, (he, Sebastian, the other olympians and so on)
Now, you could claim that The Almighty âfell asleepâ before Avstamet rose to power as Ares and Mars, so that he didnât know of The Almighties existence during his reign. However⌠Dayane tells us this.
But, if the events of the Bible are indeed truth, then wouldnât Avsamet have been created when Cain killed Able? Cain and Able were the third and fourth humans ever born, VERY early in the creation of humanity, and The Almighty is incredibly active in the Bible after that event, so why would Avstamet claim to have âcreated the worldâ
I think thereâs multiple explanations that could make sense.Â
My favorite is that Avstamet was not speaking literally, and only meant that the Olympians oversaw the creation of modern humanity, probably after The Almighty fell asleep (and Iâm assuming this is why the world hasnât seen any miracles after the events of the Bible) Avstamet believes that the Roman Empire was the peak of human existence, and that the rest of the world has modeled themselves after it, making this new, modern world, something HE created, even if The Almighty was the one to actually create human beings.
Another possibility is that the story of Cain and Abel just isnât true, and that was not when Avstamet was created. (Although, humans were certainly killing each other a lot while God was active in the Bible, so surely Avstamet heard about that.)
My third idea is that perhaps when Avstamet was born during the events of Cain and Abel that he was⌠a feral spirit?
To properly flesh this idea out, we might just need to know more about how tf spirits work, but is it possible that these rabid feral spirits like Cecileâs⌠weird lamprey dog thing are mayyybe like young spirits newly born? Less intelligent than something like Sarmodel, but perhaps after years of existence they can evolve? Idk, maybe Avstamet was born when Cain killed Abel, but he was too feral to remember, and only gained enough conciseness to understand things after The Almighty was done with his Divine business.
Anyways. Iâm totally obsessed with this book and Iâm gonna be chewing my nails until the next one comes out. Let me know if you have any thoughts. PLEASE.
Iâd love to form some kind of idea on the relationship between Sarmodel and Michael next, because wtf.
