……………..it’s fucking common sense to use protection no matter what. IUD’s don’t protect against STD’s and no birth control is 100% effective but using both forms gives a much better chance of effective birth control.

#okay it’s incredibility fascinating to me to see the base of the winter soldier in bucky #and the reflection of bucky in the winter soldier #how do you carve the person out but leave the skills?

Okay military meta time friends. I’ve been meaning to take this one on for a while but I’m in the field at 2337 after a crazy long day on my best behavior around high ranking brass because my CO/BFF sent me on a cherry assignment so I am warn out, and I’m gonna make this short.

When this gif set first came out it simply said predator mode engaged. Then it was changed to hunting module. I reblogged both because I love this fucking gif: both are prime examples of a nonfiring actor correctly emulating behavior of a firer. Seb has played a soldier before and he is good at correctly emulating the distinct way we move when constantly carrying a deadly weapon. Chris evans, btw, is baaaad at that.

However the more recent reblogs of this gif set come with the additional commentary about similarities between the way Bucky moves and the way Winter moves. And from a professional standpoint I can instinctually bit emphatically tell you that the similarities are few and the differences are astronomical. Other than basic weapons and tactical proficiency, Bucky and Winter could not move more differently if they tried.

For one, Bucky lacks the thousand mile stare, whereas that’s all Winter has. Bucky is very focused on the moment, the present, the target right in front of him—the one posing a threat. Its why he gets caught by surprise several times in close combat in that scene. Buck is a sniper. He devotes everything to one point of a focus at a time. He pivots as such. His face shows microreactions as he takes in details of his surroundings one by one. He’s still very situationlly aware, but not simultaneously.

Winter /hunts/. His eyea don’t flicker everywhere and his body language and firing posture doesn’t shift a hundred times minutely like Bucky’s does because rather than focus with a sniper’s POV he sees the whole picture. He’s taking everything in at once. Hence the rhousand mile stare.They could not be more different.

Plus that fact that Bucky has good trigger discipline (you can see it in other gifs) and the WS has his finger clamped down over the trigger. He is ready to shoot to kill at ANY GIVEN SECOND, which Bucky is not.

I think it’s because we all love to dream. We don’t live in a particularly attractive world. I don’t really remember, except as a small boy, anything but a pretty grim world. So, yes, let us not lose faith, let us be optimistic, let us believe in the good things, but we still have to face the world as it is. When you live in a world like that, what do you want? You want to escape, to get out of this world from time to time, into another world, a magical world, an enchanted world, where things happen we dream about, a world of fairy stories and wizards. It is like the conjurer, the enchanter, or magician who says, “Look, nothing up my sleeve. When I do this, you will come into my enchanted world!” Dreaming, escaping, that is what we’re talking about. I firmly believe that is why this kind of film is so universally popular, and always will be, because people like to get into another world.

Some of this looks similar to the self defense I learned in a course three or four years ago. It’s definitely got some judo in it (arm bars, throws, fighting to and from the ground). I love this lady. She is rad. I feel like she, much like the rad lady I had as my self defense teacher, would also warn the women that if they don’t think they can gouge out someone’s eyes, don’t start trying because you’ll attack better with something you can follow through on.

Congratulations tumblr/twitter users you have managed in one day to do what fifty plus years of retconning/events/rotating writers and illustrators have never managed to accomplished. Today you managed to extinguish the flame of a fandom.

Do you know who owns Iron Man/Captain America/Black Widow et al?

Marvel.

You have zero creative say over their characters. Marvel has been more than generous with their property rights. How many of you write fan fiction? Create art/gifs/videos using their characters? Now how many of you have received cease and desist orders to stop using said characters? Marvel is absolutely within their rights to issue them and yet they don’t.

Now let’s take that a little further. How many of you have created non mainstream character ships in your chosen art form? Paired Hawkeye with Thor or Tony with Natasha? How many of you have received death threats because of it? Thought not. How many of you have posted on this site and had anon’s come at you for a portion of text that was misrepresented because said anon didn’t read through and process, just took it at face value? I know for a fact it happens, I see it all the time. How did it make you feel to have people you have never met attacking you for your art? Pretty damn awful right? Now imagine how you would feel if the same anon’s said they wanted you to die because of your representation of your art.

No. Sit and think about it. Want. You. To. Die.  

I have issues with representations of Tony in both the comics and the movies. Iron Man 3? Dear, God, Christ, Iron Man 3. Superior who? That’s not my Tony on those pages. But to go after a man. A man you have never met. And to threaten his life?!  Or to berate and harangue the actors who are simply portraying the characters? This fandom has been slowly falling into a morass of idiocy and fervent hate since before the first Avengers movie and today it reached it’s zenith.

I have raised two boys who are now men. Not an easy task. Both are highly creative and high spirited. Both were raised to form their own opinions. Both to question the world around them. But never, ever, not once, have either of them bullied anyone. If you don’t agree with something and cannot find a solution, walk away and find a niche that works for you. Screaming at a problem with all the hate in your voice does nothing but make you a larger problem than the issue at the center of it all.  

I grew up through the latter part of the initial ‘feminist movement’. I saw the marches. I walked along with them. I lived the damn movement. And not once did I feel the need to threaten someone’s life to achieve a goal.

All you people have done is shine a negative light on us all. If you don’t like the movie: don’t go see it. If you don’t like how a character is portrayed: write a letter to the company. Or better yet, write your own damn screenplay with an original female/male/whatever character.

I see so many posts go over my dash decrying bullying. And yet, apparently this is a site of do as I say not as I do. Those of you who sent hate to this man, you are not a solution to anything, not this fandom, not your generation, not your future. You are merely the problem.
