Why are there so many rules and restriction when it comes to get your tubes tied or getting a hysterectomy?

I know what's best for my body. Why do you need your husband's permission. It's not his body

Why do you need to already have kids. Most people who want that shit gone don't want kids in the first place.

Doctors will literally be like “I know you’re bleeding uncontrollably and you’re in immense pain and this one thing could totally fix this issue for you and improve your quality of life but....your future possible husband might want kids one day so suffer”

It literally all depends on your doctor, which sucks but-

Ask every doctor you see, every time. You might need to actively go to a new Dr and just do this over and over.

I was essentially convinced that I'd never get the greenlight for getting my tubes tied, and I jokingly mentioned that it was my own little pipe-dream to a Dr at a clinic (where other Drs had already seen me and said no) and she was like "done." Now to be fair, at this point I could no longer take birth control (or I would DIE) so that was deffo a factor, but other Drs had heard that and had the reaction "still no, get an IUD" so like. It's at least in part just doctor shopping.
