I hope you are doing well. It has been more than two years since the genocide, as you know. I once had a previous donation link, but GoFundMe deleted it.

Now is the time we need your support the most. The war may have ended, but the tragedy has not. Prices are still very high, and winter is approaching. There are many difficulties and risks — such as the worn-out tents and other hardships.

6-year-old Souad has been anemic since birth, and starvation and disease due to the IOF assault have caused her severe additional health complications. In September she fell unconscious and was admitted to the hospital. She has since been comatose and fluid is building up around her brain.

Medical staff have worked very hard to reduce the swelling. But despite their efforts, Souad's brain is now hemorrhaging (bleeding). The swelling has been too persistent, and the pressure is rapidly bursting the cells of her brain, causing bleeding. This will kill her. Little Souad is dying.

She needs to be evacuated outside of Gaza, but this is extremely expensive. The cost for transport through the Egyptian border, medical care, and associated expenses comes to $6,000 usd, about €5,000 EUR. This is a devastating setback, but all we can do is push forward.

This is in reference to the number of bloodlines that Israel wiped out in Gaza since October 2023.

Coincidentally, right before seeing this, I came across a video of someone interviewing people at a marketplace in Gaza and highlighting how although they were all on one street (many have been displaced) there were so many distinct Gazan dialects that even to me, a native Arabic speaker, some were surprising and difficult to understand.

These horrific numbers hide behind them names and love stories and countless dreams. I have to think of how many customs have been wiped out in Gaza, how many distinct dialects, how many family recipes, oral traditions, Nakba stories, how many epiphanies.

Israel cannot weasel its way out of being held accountable for committing this genocide, which was aimed at annihilating a people, and destroying any prospect for their distinct Palestinian identity to be preserved for future generations. They may not be held accountable for it today, but our responsibility is to keep imagining a day when they will be.
