Guts has been given an incredible opportunity to defy all odds and become the father to his son that he was so callously deprived of as a child himself. To love this child the way he himself deserved, but did not experience.

We’ve seen him grow and allow his heart to soften. He has become much more compassionate as time goes on, in a way that is so divorced from the cruelty and suffering he’s endured throughout his life.

His son is not unlike how he was once seen as a child; a curse, a bad omen. Breaking the cycle is yet another demonstration of how he defies fate and the expectations set upon him.
