26 shows up in the middle of coffee one morning and hands you a freshly printed memo that reads: “You’re going to get old one day and die. You’re cool for now, but it will happen. You’re officially on notice. You won’t be young forever.” And then 26 struts out of your office, like an unconcerned dick, having nonchalantly just changed your entire perspective. But it’s okay! 26 is a strange age that simultaneously feels older than you expected, but still refreshingly, hopefully, thrillingly young. It’s possibly the one age where the expression “youth is wasted on the young” holds no authority; we are undeniably, wildly young, but we’ve been young for long enough to know how valuable it is to be so. We have more respect for our youth because, while we aren’t there yet, we can see that it will be done one day.

i think the crux of human misery stems from the fact that our skeleton just wants to sit around and accumulate dust in an ancient barrow (that is the innate imperative of all skeletal remains in-case you didn’t know) but our meat has its own agenda which creates this fundamental conflict of interests
Lundy bancroft legit has dedicated his life to working directly with abusive men to interrupt their thinking and behavioral patterns, and making said patterns knowable and nameable by women. That is what male feminist ally behavior actually looks like. Obviously the every day person isn’t going to spend their entire life doing the kind of work he does, but on a micro level, recognizing and speaking about male pattern aggression/manipulation and disrupting those patterns in yourself and those around you is something you can actually be striving for.
That means not using your newfound gender awareness as a way to make women caretake your guilt, or coming up with clever ways to “overcome” that guilt, or using feminist rhetoric as a social capital or manipulation tool. It’s not that we’re not all very glad that you’ve learned how to cry – it would just be nice if you weren’t just doing all the same old stuff “once more, but with feeling.”
I love the way he never believes in their lies. I love the way he looks at things with complete honesty about the situation. I love how he is a man who is genuinely unwilling to trust abusers.
Here’s a free pdf of his book, Why Does He Do That?
I cannot believe I didn’t realize until this moment that Lundy Bancroft is a man.
He also really doesn’t beat around the bush. He comes right out at the beginning of the book and says he’s using “he” for the abuser and “she” for the victim, because that is the majority of cases. As with all “good” men, I’m cautiously optimistic, but Why Does He Do That? is a very resource to have. At the time of writing he’d counselled over 1000 abusive men IIRC.
I’m happy to share this little lookbook for my collaboration with a small brand Lyoclothes
I made patterns, Olya from Lyoclothes made these beautiful dresses. All the dresses are made from 100% Viscose (rayon). Our dresses are handmade, sewn locally in my hometown - Saint Petersburg. Due to the nature of a small brand, we have a very limited amount of dresses at this moment! Most of the dresses were made in 5 copies. If you want to purchase a dress - it is possible to make via Etsy at lyochothes.etsy.com with free shipping. Also, we will update the shop very soon with two new dresses!
Also, I’d like to explain the price because it’s important for me to be transparent. Sadly we can’t offer anything by the fast fashion\mass market prices. Most of the dress price is aiming to cover our expenses for good natural fabric, custom high-quality printing, and sewing dresses locally with all the details. I hope for understanding!

What if instead of editing – and hear me out on this one – I lay facedown on the floor and do nothing
I want to be like one of those authors from the 1900s who would get high on cocaine then write a book that barely made any fucking sense and just publish the first draft. Why did we stop doing that
Renderings for TERA-1 in Upstate, New York This fall, @aispacefactory is building this futuristic design on a tree-filled site along the Hudson River This future earth habitat came out of a competition to design a 3D-printed mission outpost for NASA – “it turns out the material we developed is stronger than concrete, but whereas concrete is pretty awful for our planet, ours is renewable and can be recycled or eventually composted” The shell material, a mix of basalt fiber and PLA (which is processed from corn) is renewable, recyclable and compostable. Their goal is to create a net-zero energy, net-zero waste building that will become a model for future construction TERA is available for overnights stays in Spring 2020. It will remain at the site for one year, then be recycled and reprinted in a new location. Reservations available via: @aispacefactory

Watch: President Jimmy Carter tells Oprah America is no longer a democracy, it’s an oligarchy — and he’s not wrong.
Oprah always picks the best stories to share
PREACH!
Remember when Pres. Carter was pressured into giving up his peanut farm by republicans because it was looked at as a conflict of interest with him being the president and all but still having his own business. They even investigated him for half a year to see if there were any questionable financials within his peanut growing operation. compare that to what we’re currently dealing with…crazy.
the moment you see how Trump’s businesses are benefitting from his presidency Carter’s conflict of interest seems like peanuts by comparison

the scenes of dani confronting christian when he didn’t tell her about the trip vs josh confronting christian when he’s trying to steal his thesis idea are very telling
dani knows that christian treats her badly. she knows exactly what he’s doing when he gaslights her. but the difference between dani and josh is that josh has the luxury of not suppressing his anger at christian. dani makes herself small and amicable for christian because a. women are taught that they’re not allowed to be angry and b. dani feels that she’s better off in an emotionally manipulative relationship than being left alone. josh calling christian out was cathartic because it’s what the audience wishes dani could have been able to do. this isn’t to say that dani is weak. she is simply molded by society’s expectations for women. she tries extremely hard to not seem needy, even when she’s going through things that are understandably taxing. midsommar portrays the pain of existing as a woman so accurately it hurts. ari aster.....somehow gets it.
