Summary: Jaehyun comes over to kill a spider and they finally confess.
Pairing: Cherrie/NCT Jaehyun
Jimin screamed using all the air that was in her lungs and then some. Her heart was racing as she stared at the creature on the wall, her hand over her chest as she tried to calm herself down.
She hated them with everything she had in her. She had never liked them. They were disgusting and made her queasy. She could feel the sweat on her forehead as she watched the eight legged creature climb on her wall. She didn’t know why she disliked spiders so much. All she knew was that whenever she saw one or even saw webs, she would start to feel dizzy, get sick and start sweating. Sometimes she even cried. Everyone always thought that she was overreacting, but she would rather have the worlds worst punishment taken upon her than be near a spider.
With her eyes never leaving the spider for more than five seconds at a time, she reached for her phone that was laying on her bed and rang the first number she saw. Unfortunately, it was Jaehyun. She didn’t realise that though until she had finished rambling.
“You need to come to me and kill this spider. I hate spiders, I hate them, I hate them. I can feel myself already sweating and I feel sick. Please, please, please come and kill it. I don’t care what you’re doing, I need you to come and kill it. Please!” She sounded on the verge of tears.
“I’m on my way.” His voice stunned her and she didn’t know anymore whether she was frightened of the spider or the fact that Jaehyun was going to her apartment at that moment. She hadn’t spoken to him after the whole confession through text because of Lane thing. In fact, she hadn’t spoken to Lane either since then. She knew that the younger girl only wanted to do what she thought was best for her and Jaehyun, but that didn’t mean Jimin had to thank her for it. She rarely got mad at Lane, the girl was so sweet and like a younger sister to her, but she couldn’t help but get angry at the girl for inputting herself into their relationship.
Jimin had no choice but to watch that the spider didn’t move and wait for Jaehyun to turn up. Jimin only took her eyes off the spider when she heard the doorbell and she sprinted to get it, pulling Jaehyun inside without a hey or the chance for him to take off his shoes. She dragged him to her bedroom and pointed to the spider that, thankfully, hadn’t moved an inch from its place on her wall.
“Kill it. Kill it. Kill it now!” She whimpered, his shirt bunched up in her fists as she lightly bounced up and down on the heels of her feet.
“Okay.” He said, taking off his shoes and leaving one on the floor before taking the other to where the spider was. Jimin hurried out of the room, poking her head around the doorframe to watch. If he didn’t kill it right there and then, she wouldn’t let him leave until he did.
She let out a scream as it landed on her desk. Her hands balling into fists and her heart still pounding frantically as Jaehyun picks up the dead spider with a piece of paper and takes it to the bathroom to flush it down the toilet. When he returns to Jimin, she’s wiping down her desk with a disinfectant wipe.
“Are you okay?” Jaehyun asks her in a shy voice. “I know how much you don’t like spiders.” Jimin presses her lips together, her toes curling and her eyes squeezed shut as she stops wiping her desk.
“Thank you for coming.” She turns around to face him. “You should head back home now. You must be busy and tired.” She rushed to him, practically pushing him towards the front door and forgetting that his shoes were still on her bedroom floor.
“W-Wait, Jimin,” Jaehyun grabs her hands in his and faces her. Jimin tries to pull her hands free, but he doesn’t let her. “Don’t you think we should talk about our feelings?” She squeezed her eyes shut. “I know it can’t be easy for you, finding out that I love you from a bunch of texts that weren’t meant to be sent to y-”
Jimin doesn’t want him to finish. She didn’t even want him to start. She didn’t want to discuss feelings yet. She wanted more time to take in what she had read and he wasn’t letting her have that. It had only been two days and she needed more time. She wanted to cover his mouth with her hands, but they were still tightly in his grasp and the only other thing she could think of was to use her lips.
Jaehyun was so shocked that he loosened his grip on her hands and she pulled them free, taking a big step away from him. Her lips were tingling. She could feel her face burn up as Jaehyun stared at her.
“Just,” she sighed and ran her hands through her hair, “shut up for a minute.” She felt like crying, she could feel the burn of the tears behind her eyes, and she wished she wasn’t such a sensitive person. Taking a deep breath, she opened her eyes and looked at Jaehyun properly for the first time since he had arrived ten minutes or so ago.
He looked incredibly handsome, like he always did. It was obvious that he had been practicing before she had called; he still had sweat patches that hadn’t fully dried on his shirt. Jimin didn’t care. He was still so unbelievably, undeniably attractive.
To anybody, it was obvious that she was in love with Jaehyun as much as he was in love with her. Even fans of both her and NCT had picked up on their obvious closeness and feelings. Some may be against it, but they definitely picked up on it. Jimin knew that what she felt for him had always been more than a little crush since they became friends, but she didn’t know whether she was ready to admit it.
Idols in relationships, especially with other idols, wasn’t something that was widely accepted. Many fans would rather have their favourite idol be single forever and most companies also wished that. Sure, idols dated in secret and everything, but it was also hard having to date around separate schedules. Dating was something that Jimin hadn’t thought of until it was too late. She hadn’t thought that idols would take a liking to her enough to wish to date her and she hadn’t thought that she would get close enough to a male idol to want to date him. It was a subject that she didn’t think much of as it was the last thing she was concerned about. And she wished she had at least had a talk about it with herself or her closest friends before she debuted.
“Jimin,” Jaehyun’s voice was soft and quiet and that just irritated her. She wouldn’t let him say another word. Instead, she kissed him again. Longer this time. Long enough for him to kiss her back and for his hands to grasp her hips and for her hands to hold his face. His lips were soft and her body felt like it was on fire. She didn’t want to stop kissing him. She wanted to kiss him forever. She wished that she could kiss him forever without worrying about anything other than the speed and intensity.
Unfortunately, her lungs wouldn’t allow that and so she had to pull away from him.
“Stupid, stupid, stupid!” She groaned, slapping his chest with no force whatsoever. Jaehyun accepted it with a stupid little smile on his face. “You are possibly the most stupidest person I’ve ever known, Jung Jaehyun. Aish!” She shook her head and covered her face for a few seconds. Taking a deep breath, she placed her hands back on either side of his face and stared straight at him.
She was going to do it. She was going to pour everything she had into three simple words that he longed to hear and mean it. From the bottom of her heart, from the bottom of the earth, from everything she has ever felt in her entire life, she means it.
