“Because children grow up, we think a child's purpose is to grow up. But a child's purpose is to be a child. Nature doesn't disdain what lives only for a day. It pours the whole of itself into the each moment.”

People are thinking we can’t do our baby’s hair. And look at us ! We can’t go around looking like that and have our kid be disheveled,” he said very seriously. “Looking like what ?” Jake asked, very confused. “Please, like you don’t know how good we look,” Bradley said. “Well, yes, but I don’t see how…” “Her hair is a mess, Jake ! We need to learn how to make it look nice. Hence, the hair stuff,” he announced, showing his purchases with a wave of his hand.w

The mustache of love
Bradley grew a mustache to show his love for his dad, right ? That's what you do when you love your dad, you grow a mustache, right ? Well, that's what Angie thinks anyway.
Part of the serie "Baby Seresin" but can be read as a stand alone. It's pure cuteness.
Jake had his head deep inside the fridge, trying desperately to locate the feta cheese Angie became obsessed with and that he bought the day before. He had promised her to put some in the salad he had planned for dinner and she wouldn’t touch it if the feta was missing. Four years old and she was more stubborn than him. If anyone asked, it was Bradley’s fault.
Before he could find it a very loud noise came from the living room and put him on high alert. “Angie ? What are you doing ?” he called, walking away from the fridge to go see for himself. He found her standing up on a chair she dragged all the way from the dining table (hence the noise), staring at a picture on the wall. “Angie, what are you doing, sweetheart ?” “Baba’s dad had a moustache,” she said without looking away from the picture. Jake got closer but he knew what picture she was suddenly focused on. It was the one showing Bradley on the piano his dad was playing, his mum on his lap and Maverick singing like a maniac. It was a good picture, one that Bradley could now look at with fondness instead of deep sadness and barely hidden rage. “He did, yes,” Jake agreed. “So does Baba.” Jake hummed, grabbing the chair to make sure Angie wouldn’t tip over with a sudden and unexpected move. “Baba grew the mustache to show his love for his dad, to look a little bit more like him maybe. And he kept it because it suits him. I like to think he wouldn’t have otherwise,” he joked. That didn’t seem to register. “So, the mustache is for love,” she concluded with a nod, her little pigtails bouncing around her face. “Yes.” “Why don’t you have a mustache ?” she asked, turning to face him with a frown. “My dad didn’t have a mustache,” he said not to have to explain that his dad didn’t deserve his love anyway and more importantly that he wouldn’t be able to pull a mustache like Bradley did. “But Baba does. And you love baba,” Angie stated. “But he’s not my dad,” he reminded her. She didn’t say anything for a while, her focus back on the picture, and Jake was bracing himself for more questions, questions probably harder to answer somehow, but she suddenly let herself down off the chair and walked to her room without another word. That was that then.
He shook his head with a smile, put the chair back where it belonged and went back to making dinner. He managed to locate the feta and to have everything ready by the time Bradley got home. “Hi baby, how was your day ?” he asked after Bradley kissed him hello. He grumbled something and stole a piece of cucumber. “That good, huh ?” Jake teased. “It was fine, I don’t care. Where’s Angie ?” Jake let it go, kissed his cheek and called for their daughter. “Angie, Baba’s home !” A loud thump came from her bedroom, followed by fast little footsteps getting louder as she was getting closer. Angie jumped on Bradley who caught her easily to hold her tight, whispering something in her ear that made Jake smile even though he couldn’t hear it. “I missed you today, baby girl. What have you been doing with Daddy ?” Angie pulled away to look at him properly and both Bradley and Jake froze. Angie had a mustache. Above her beautiful, very proud smile, she had a brown mustache drawn all above her upper lip. “I made a mustache Baba ! Because I love you. Do you like it ?” Bradley looked even more confused but Jake understood and could barely hold his laughter back. “Yes ?” he tried, looking at Jake for help. “Angie, baby, your mustache looks very good. You did it to look more like Baba, like he did for his dad, right ?” Angie nodded enthusiastically, still very pleased with herself Because I love him,” she insisted, “and I want everyone to know.” By the way Bradley’s eyes got very teary, Jake knew their kid aimed perfectly. “I love it, baby. And I love you even more,” he confessed while hugging her tightly again. Angie pushed herself away and made grabby hands for Jake to join them. “Daddy doesn’t have a mustache but he loves you anyway, but you're not his dad, so he doesn’t need the mustache,” she explained. Jake and Bradley kissed her cheeks and stayed like that, holding each other close for a moment, Jake’s nose buried in Bradley’s neck, Angie’s arm around his own, until her priorities came back in order. “Oh, cheese !” she exclaimed before wriggling herself out of their arms. Jake took her place on Bradley’s front and dropped a kiss to his neck. “What do you think she used to draw the mustache ?” he asked against his skin. “Hopefully her washable pen, otherwise we’re screwed,” he answered, sounding not at all upset. “I’m gonna need to take a thousand pictures of the two of you before we get her anywhere near water anyway. But first, dinner, before she eats all the cheese from the salad and refuses to eat the rest.”
They settled around the table and Jake looked at the two mustached loves of his life and felt like the luckiest man in the world.
