The One I Choose
Drew Starkey x Reader (Y/N)
🖤 : Angst → Fluff
📎 Summary: You’ve been Drew’s best friend — and something more — for years. But when Odessa A’zion enters the picture, you start to question everything. Until Drew makes a choice. And he chooses you.

You weren’t one to eavesdrop. But it was hard not to when everyone in the room was talking about Drew and Odessa.
“Did you see the way she looked at him during the shoot?”
“I heard they went to dinner alone last night.”
“Honestly, they’d be cute together.”
Cute. Perfect. Hollywood’s new favorite pairing. Odessa A’zion and Drew Starkey.
You sat in the corner of the trailer, fidgeting with the bracelet Drew had gotten you last fall. The one he said “looked like you — quiet but meaningful.” Whatever that meant. It used to make you smile.
Now, it just felt like a reminder of how replaceable you were.
Drew walked in moments later, his laugh echoing down the hallway before he even turned the corner. Odessa was right behind him, shoulder bumping into his in that flirtatious, casual way. She was beautiful. Golden. Effortless.
You looked away before either of them could see your expression. But Drew saw you. He always did.
“Hey,” he said, stepping toward you. “Been looking for you all day.”
You forced a smile. “Didn’t know you noticed I was gone.”
He frowned, cocking his head. “Y/N, what’s up?”
“Nothing,” you said too quickly. “You seem busy. Odessa’s funny, huh?”
Drew blinked. “What?”
“She’s cool. Pretty. And clearly into you.”
The words slipped out sharper than you meant. Your throat tightened. You didn’t want to cry. Not here. Not in front of him.
“Y/N…” he started, his tone softening, but you stood up.
“I get it. You’re Drew Starkey. You can have whoever you want. You don’t need to explain.”
“You think I want her?” he asked, stepping into your space.
You met his gaze. “Don’t you?”
There was a pause — heavy, loaded, thick with silence.
“I want you,” he said finally. “I’ve always wanted you.”
You blinked, confused, heart skipping painfully.
“But you’ve been with her—”
“I haven’t been with anyone,” he cut in, frustration flickering in his eyes. “You saw us talk and you assumed the worst. But the whole time I was thinking about you. Wishing it was you next to me. Wishing you knew.”
“Then why didn’t you say something?”
“I thought I didn’t have to,” he said. “I thought you already knew how I felt.”
The emotion in his voice cracked something inside you.
You stepped closer, voice barely above a whisper. “I was scared.”
“So was I,” he said. “But not anymore.”
His hand found yours. Warm. Certain.
“You’re it for me, Y/N.”
You let out a breath you didn’t realize you were holding, leaning into him.
“Don’t ever make me doubt it again,” you whispered.
“I won’t,” he promised, pressing his forehead to yours.
And when he kissed you — slow, aching, real — all the noise, all the doubts, all the fear melted away.
It had always been you.
