Tumblr ‘How To’s

I had no idea about Tumblr’s shadowban until it happened to me. Since then, surprisingly quite a few number of people have texted me about them getting shadowbanned as well. Now that I’m aware of it, I realize it’s becoming increasingly common for legit blogs like mine to get shadowbanned for no reason at all. So hope this helps everyone who has to unnecessarily go through this.

What does shadowban exactly mean?

Basically, your blog exists and mostly functions as it normally would, but Tumblr has made it invisible to everyone else. Tumblr lets you believe that everything is fine and that you can interact with others, but actually you can’t. (Look at the wikipedia definition here.)

Why does this happen?

From what I understand, blogs get shadowbanned since they are suspected of being bots, or just sketchy, or they might be going against Tumblr’s guidelines. I’m not sure, but it might also happen if someone has reported your blog. 

But more often than not, it’s just a tumblr glitch. 

How to tell if your blog has been shadowbanned? And most of the things that happen during this state.

(These are the things that I personally went through. It might not be the same for everyone. Also, my main blog (@that-damn-girl) was shadowbanned. My side-blogs were fine. So in case your main blog is fine but your side blog is shadowbanned, you might have a different experience.)

Jesus christ this is worse than I thought it'd be. I don't even think this is "softened" TERF rhetoric, it's straight mask-off transmisogynistic bigotry. The more I read through those screenshots the more aggravated I was getting. This is the same ethos as 'gender critical feminism'.

It even tried to use its intersex upbringing to justify using the radfem version of gender socialization theory, which personally pisses me off as someone who did experience inconsistent gender socialization due to being intersex. Gendered socialization as a sociology concept isn't akin to brainwashing like TERFs, radfems, and this fucker, seem to believe. The act of questioning your gender and out as trans in and of itself breaks the internalized roles you were previously subconsciously enforcing on yourself by believing you are cisgender. For people like me, those roles were never consistently enforced and reified by the world around me, meaning I never internalized them and truly had a false-cisgender or genuine cisgender self-conceptualization. I was looking at cisnormative gender from an outsider's perspective from a very young age. This means my gender journey varies greatly from most people who experienced CSIG (consistent societally imposed gender). THAT is the difference between CSIG & ISIG, not whatever the hell radfem bullshit this person is on about.

You can't really get more transmisogynistic than referring to transfeminine hurt and anger as "toxic masculinity" and literally blaming their "stubbornness" on having a penis?? The FUCK. A body part will never make someone behave in a certain way. Blaming a trans woman's "bullheaded" behavior on having a penis is no different from a transandrophobe blaming a trans man's "hysteria" on having a vulva. This is a level of transmisogyny that is somewhat hard to comment on because the things that one would normally point out as transmisogynistic implications are said so brazenly that there can be no pretense about any of the involved parties being unaware of it. The authors know, the readers know, everybody understands that this is pure transmisogyny. There is no plausible deniability.

It's an attempt to establish proximity between transfems and cis manhood in every way possible. Their bodies, their histories, their "socialization", the way they are treated by others, the way they treat and view others, their ways of thinking, even their self-conception. Every aspect of their being is cast as essentially male. Transfems are being called "men" in all but name - and not just any "men", they are made into embodiments of the worst aspects of hegemonic manhood. Not just male socialized but continuing to benefit from male socialization. Not just engaging in abusive behaviors stemming from male socialization but being afforded the freedom to do so because they continue to be treated as men. (Suffice it to say that this does not align with reality)

This is unadulterated sex-essentialism and it's intentionally being used to delegitimize and devalue the standpoint of transfems in feminist discourses. It's clear that the author is projecting transmisogynist ideas onto transfems and simply assumes that these ideas must be correct without considering any alternative. (The fact that transfems do not internalize "male socialization" has been reiterated many times over and should not have to be continually reasserted. This is a baseline level of understanding that we should be able to expect and demand from members of our community.)

Misogyny is framed as being contained within the realms of sexed bodies and gendered socialization in such a way that it allows for the casting of transfems as people enacting misogyny without being primary targets themselves - like cis men.

The claim that the animosity some transfems exhibit towards men comes from wanting to "prove" their womanhood serves the double purpose of casting their womanhood as inauthentic and denying the misogyny they suffer at the hands of men. One would be hard pressed to find a more cruel mischaracterization of transfems' experiences than this.

The cynical misappropriation of the standpoint of the people this screed is directed at by the use of "we" despite making it abundantly clear that the behavior that is being criticized and its supposed causes exempt people such as the author from the possibility of engaging in it should also be noted as an attempt at weaponizing a compromised version of standpoint epistemology against transfems.

The only plausible target audience for this kind of rhetoric are those who carry extreme ressentiment towards transfems and are susceptible to softened formulations of TERF ideology. These are the same kinds of ideas that TERFs have tried to push into trans spaces numerous times, e.g. under names like "sex-conscious feminsim".

A formulaic "retreat" from this post consisting entirely of platitudes has been published after the author received backlash for it but nobody is under any obligation to accept it and they absolutely should not. A person who was very obviously attempting to promote TERF ideology in trans spaces and in the same stroke accused transfems of being uniquely prone to making false accusations is not trustworthy, even if that person backs down upon realizing that the reception is more uniformly negative than anticipated.

@genderqueerdykes @gateway-2000 is a transmisogynist, beyond a shadow of a doubt. Its entire worldview is permeated by transmisogynistic assumptions, ideas and biases at a fundamental level. It has straightforwardly expressed an understanding of transfems' interiorities, their experiences and their social positions that is so incorrect that one has to wonder how someone holding these views could have navigated trans communities for a considerable amount of time without encountering the many transfeminist rebuttals to all of its demagoguery. How could someone with even a passing level of familiarity with TERF ideology or "gender critical feminism" read and espouse these ideas without recognizing them? It's completely unthinkable. It's not unreasonable to assume that it simply misjudged the consensus within its audience as being sufficiently anti-transfeminist for ideas such as these to fall upon fertile ground and it is now going back to waiting until the time is ripe to reintroduce them and to expressing them in more subtle ways until then.

But you can't un-ring a bell.

We can and should assert boundaries against reactionaries engaging in obvious subversion such as this. Refusing to do so is a deleterious error in judgement. This is very far beyond the limits of what any trans community that wants to consider transfems a part of itself can be allowed to tolerate.

In retrospect of her new video which was basically just 4 hours of nonsensical yapping about how the HH/HB critical community are a bunch of misogynistic pigs (despite most of the community's biggest issue with the series being it's mistreatment of it's female characters): even when I was watching Sai's videos about people like Lily "Orchard" it never really seemed like she cared about making actual criticism or giving a voice to Lily's victims. Her only real points always amounted to- "You're cringe! And gross!" with no real reflection or nuance. Just going to say it right now, I watched Saberspark's response video, and I don't believe him. But there's something else I want to touch on:

People in the comments were saying the video was made as well as Kwite's response and they they hope he can come back from it like he did, but that couldn't be further from the truth. In Kwite's video, which was over an hour and a half compared to Saberspark's under 20 minutes, he went through each allegation and debunked them with conclusive proof, often exposing his own insecurities to do so. In Saberspark's video, all he says in relation to the allegations is that he didn't do it (obviously, no one would admit to that). The rest of his video was spent ranting about "online vigilantism" and attacking the people who made the video about the allegations. Mind you, they did a horrible job on the video, but a poorly made video doesn't mean the events didn't occur. When there is evidence of you being at the places people say you assaulted them and you have publicly (and continuously) defended a groomer, you don't get to be let off the hook without evidence.

What sucks about KP (Ilovekimpossiblealot) is the fact that since she allegedly lied about Saber Spark, that means some of the ACTUAL stuff that Saber had did (example: 'allegedly' Harassing the grooming victim's father for voicing his concerns about his daughter marrying her groomer) get buried under the sand.

Back in the 2014-2015 days, I followed some antiSJW brony folks and these three artists made satirical blogs abt the adult CMC mocking tumblr culture and fandom. Not a big fan of those same artists now, but the one who owned the Applebloom blog made a parody comic of that time Gabriel posted pics of dripping syrup and tying up Michelle Creber (who was still a minor at the time), by having Gabe's griffonsona do that to Applebloom while a disapproving Apple family look on. The comic ended with the other Apple's sending Gabe's oc to be eaten by Queen Chrysalis. The comic then linked to and showed the screengrabs of Gabe and Michelle Creber's real life posts that inspired it. It then had a poem parody that went like: "sing a song of sixpence but surely they deny, one big black gryphon backed into a pie, deported by the apple fam for hitting on a tween, wasn't that a dainty dish to set before the queen?"

If ANY of this comic still exists it would be under a wayback machine of "ask apl-pleb-loom" or something like that. The mod of that blog posted besides "Fury Belle" (radfeminist SJW Sweetie Belle) and Ass Brutalewd (Stootalo but a horndog college girl).

I don't so much care for the artist and distanced myself from them and the antisjw types. I don't support or like them but THAT was how I first learned and saw what Black Gryph0n was doing. Back in the mid 2010s. I didn't learn after the fact, I was aware of the accusations for a lone time. When the Hazbin Hotel pilot came out, I didn't know how to feel when I learned who Alastor's va was. To be clear, I don't think anyone at Spindlehorse knew of that situation since most people didn't and knew Gabe more from his old Brony days. I'm not blaming Spindehorse, especially since they recast Gabe anyway. Again, while I never cared for the person I originally heard that info from-

the image of 17-y-old something Michelle with duct tape on her mouth, posted to an audience of impressionable children and fellow gooning bronies, with Gabe smiling, proudly, like it was nothing has ALWAYS stuck with me. I haven't excessively combed through the all the documents and evidence to see if someone else has found that image, but to me, that was enough to swear off Black Gryph0n and his work. I KNOW that that happened. I KNOW that that incident occurred and Gabe did that.

Having found out years later that he married Claire IS uncomfortable. Marrying someone for the adult they are now as an adult even if you did know them briefly as a minor is one thing; I think even the healthiest relationship that's questionable. I'm not convinced, considering the rumors going around and that someone was bold enough to make an entire parody comic about it, that NOTHING inappropriate happened when Claire and Michelle were teenagers. At the very least, what Gabriel posted and thought was 'cute' back then with both girls was beyond inappropriate.

Like MandoPony (remember him?) it was a betrayal within Bronydom that hit hard. There was no shortage of creepy bronies and assholes in the fandom, like our dearest Lily Orchard and ToonKritic, but BlackGryph0n was 'horse famous' and seen as mostly child-friendly. He was trusted enough to hang out with the teenager members of the actual show.

I will not hear that BlackGryph0n isn't a creep and didn't in some way take advantage of anyone. "Grooming"/"not Grooming" who cares about the specifics: he was an adult and should have known better than to ever post something like that.

I don't know the extent of EVERYTHING ILoveKimPossibleALot did/said of Saberspark in relation to any of this. Knowing KP, I can def believe she did a bad job at a call out. That's KP. Barring the video she did explaining why she left Lorch, she's really not good at handling drama. I don't feel inclined to hear her take away on Gabe, Saber, Sai or anyone.
