(use whatever translator you have available on you if English is not your first language) If you are a third-party campaign organizer asking for donations, PLEASE read:
Unlike some, I am willing to believe you are a real human running a campaign on behalf of a struggling person/family somewhere else in the world. I know how it is. Official organizations can only do so much and some of them may even be encouraging you to run your own independent campaigns yourself as they commit to doing their own work. If you're new here on tumblr and have never used this site before, please follow these instructions as you go about promoting your campaign, be it will me or with other bloggers:
>DO NOT talk in the first person of the people you are raising money for.
When people on tumblr have a campaign offsite they are raising for someone else, they specify that THAT’s what they’re using it for. You are not actually in [Gaza, Sudan, Iran], you are a third party asking for money to give to the people you’re talking about in your post. Especially if you are close family or a friend of the people you are campaigning for, there's no reason to lie.
Transparency and honesty matters a lot- it is manipulative, coercive and reckless to ask for money this way. Do this instead:
"Hello friend, I am struggling in Gaza right now and-" = X
"Hello friend. I am organizing for the sake of this person/family in Gaza right now and-" = GOOD
>DO NOT ask "when can you donate"/"can you donate again?" repeatedly. Especially after someone has already told you they have donated.
Yes, I know some people can lie and say they donated at all or once and don't want to again. YOU CAN NOT MAKE PEOPLE DONATE TO YOU. This is a gross tactic and will test the patience of even the most compassionate people. This is an honor-based system of trust, and tactics like this are exactly what scammers will do when they demand people's money. If a person blocks you because you are not listening or following their instructions, that's their choice.
>DO NOT send multiple messages when someone has not responded.
Yes, people can possibly be actively ignoring you. However, more often than not, people are actively away doing other things and possibly even donating to other campaigns. This persistence to get ANY kind of response is bothersome at best.
Demanding someone interact with you is not going to help your campaign. If a person blocks you because you are not listening or following their instructions, that's their choice.
>DO NOT make multiple accounts for the same campaign when you have not been falsely or unfairly banned.
Different accounts showing up in a person's feed pushing the exact same link looks disingenuous. You should only make another account if someone has unfairly reported you as being fake//spamming. Again, I believe you aren't fake but you are overwhelming potential donors by asking this way.
By hosting multiple accounts, you look more and more to the average tumblr like a grifter and/or bot. If a person blocks you because you are not listening or following their instructions, that's their choice.
>DO NOT post about your campaign in the comments of unrelated posts.
On tumblr, especially in artists communities, this is seen as gross, offensive and DEEPLY tacky. If a person blocks you because you are not listening or following their instructions, that's their choice.
>DO NOT tag your campaign with tags unrelated to it.
This is not "engagement"; this IS spamming. You are trying to raise awareness to a very real, very horrible thing happening right now.
By tagging your campaign post under unrelated tags you are making people distrustful of your campaign.
>Avoid using AI images, filters and AI ‘art’ at all costs.
I understand a lot pf people outside tumblr think AI is just a fun and neat tool/filter. But it isn't.
AI is not real art; it’s depleting real world energy and stealing from real artists and photographers. AI filters and images genuinely make people on this site and others believe your cause LESS.
>DO NOT promote a campaign when said campaign is no longer active.
"Getting the word out" only matters if the word itself is being ignored by others. Raising awareness//showing solidarity is what everyone already willing to donate to strangers over a cause is already doing on tumblr.
Your goal should be to get tumblr bloggers to click on your link and see how far along/well into your goal is going. You are doing nothing but linking to a now defunct link NO ONE CAN HELP.
Whatever site/organizer/free tutorial is telling you to "use as many tags as possible, even ones unrelated", or anything about "keep asking again and again" is LYING to you. They are making your situation so much worse. They do not know that that's not how tumblr works and that these tactics are bad for your campaign, or worse, they don't care.
