Also, this kinda speaks to me as Vassago being an add-in instead of a character being planned into the story from earlier on. I mean, thanks for the focus on the writing istead of an unnecessary character, but why do you want to have him in there so bad. What does he even do besides confuse me. Yeah no I'm done. This entire side of the fandom is racist as shit and you will never change my mind. I wrote an entire essay on those who constantly defend her and how it has bred so many racists and edgy fucks, while clutching at her marginalized identity to deflect any criticism whatsoever, but didn't end up using it. Not only the racism, but Goose's weird ass misogynistic posts over the years are discarded because she is a trans woman. She possibly can not be misogynistic. (literally anyone, regardless of gender can be misogynistic. even cis women.). She is constantly babied because "it's just edgy jokes you're too sensitive". Extreme racism, transphobia, and misogyny are also considered "just an edgy joke" in a lot of online spaces and met with the same response when people get rightfully upset. "It's just an edgy joke". You're just as bad as them if you don't call out bigotry disguised as "edgy" jokes. Idfc how "minor" it is.
And nobody even acknowledges that Michael himself said the "jokes" are racist BECAUSE it sounded like the slur. Nobody fucking cares.
Also, she never apologized. She just said racists should kill themselves. Which isn't an apology to many black fans. It's also performative as hell lmfao. If my fandom showed racist behavior because of something **I**did, I would apologize, denounce that behavior in a more professional way than "kys." It's immature as hell in this situation imo. Michael's apology is 1000000000× times more mature than Goose's.
I also despise anyone who takes this as a chance to be transmisogynistic towards Goose. Her transness shouldn't be a shield from criticism/backlash, but it also, more importantly, it shouldn't be attacked. That just makes you an asshole and a bigot. Something that deeply unnerves me, and likely a lot of my audience too, is how often people bring up the fact that Gooseworx is a trans woman, as if that somehow excuses her behaviors recently with the "nega" jokes and her old, frankly disturbing, tweets.
Marginalized identity is not a shield against accountability. She is still a white person, and being queer does not exempt anyone from perpetuating anti-black racism. This situation alone shows a desperate need for a BASIC understanding of intersectionality.
Being a woman does not erase her white privilege. Being a trans woman does not exempt her from anti-black behavior. Neither is calling those things out misogynist or transphobic.
And even if she weren't white, like the friends she was laughing with, identity defenses still fail: being a POC person doesn't erase anti-blackness when you are not a Black person. Non-black POC people can, and absolutely do, perpetuate anti-black racism.

The reason why so many of y'all's feminism sucks is because you still believe deep down in your hearts that there are only two kinds of people in the world: precious, ethereal, fragile dollthings called "women", and violent, lustful, rage-fueled apes called "men". Until you throw that idea away, 3rd-grade-tier "girls rule boys drool, girls are princesses and boys are stinky :(" is as feminist as we'll ever get-- and I hope it's obvious that that's lightyears away from the bare minimum of where we need to be.
I don't know how I'm supposed to explain to ostensibly trans-friendly feminists that "women are beautiful soft things made of glass, men are obsessed with violence and sex" is exactly what the patriarchy wants you to believe. Patriarchy wants you to believe that being a woman and/or having a vagina (patriarchy generally believes those two things are synonymous) makes one shatter on impact with reality. It makes you easier to control if you are scared shitless of the other half of the population, and it makes you more compliant with your lot in life if you believe it is in the nature of the other half of the population to rape and kill rather than realise those were choices those individual rapists and murderers made. There is no way to make gender essentialism progressive and feminist, because it is one of patriarchy's tools of subjugation. Stop trying to make it progressive.
And I can scream all of that from the rooftops over and over again, and what I hear in reply is "Trans men really are men because no woman would ever decide to become an inherently evil repugnant rapist ape", and "You're so right. Trans women are women because they too are pretty delicate little objects I can fuck", and "You're non-binary? So are you fucktoy non-binary or sexpest non-binary?", and my patience runs ever thinner.
btw jax' story does not absolve him from the abuse he hurled towards others. he is not a good person, despite the circumstances that lead to him being that way.
it's an explanation, not an excuse.
you're still allowed to dislike him. you're not obligated to feel bad.
