Minty was born into a mixed-species family, with a unicorn mother and a pegasus father. She herself was born a pegasus, whilst her sister was a unicorn.
From an early age, Curly showed remarkable talent for magic, so she was sent to study at a school for gifted unicorns.
Whenever she came home for the holidays, Minty was always the first to run out to meet her. The pegasus was very curious to find out what her sister had learnt during her time at school. She asked non-stop about magic.
She often went to the library and looked for various books on magic. Others laughed: ‘Why would a pegasus need to know magic?’
But her passion for magic did not wane, even under pressure from others. She desperately sought ways to learn magic.
One day, whilst in Canterlot’s largest library, Minty found a rather interesting book.
The book described a cave on the outskirts of Equestria where there was a high concentration of magic. Even the slightest movement caused sparks to fly. Other stories claimed that with enough effort, one could even open portals to other worlds, but these were merely myths.
So she decided for herself that she had to go there.
Upon entering the cave, illuminated by fluorescent stones on the ceiling, she could indeed feel the magic in the air.
She followed the instructions in the book on opening a portal. Although these instructions were for a unicorn, she decided to give it a try.
She began flapping her wings back and forth, causing powerful bursts of magic inside. Minty seemed to be directing the magic to a single spot with precise movements, and then, the portal opened, flinging her to one side.
At that moment, she received a cutiemark. Minty didn’t fully understand its meaning, but she knew for certain that it was connected to the portal she had opened.
For years she had studied portals, travelled through them, and recorded everything in her notebook.
Once, Minty had to save an entire other world from an unknown monster; all its inhabitants were grateful to her. They gave her their most precious relic. It was then that the pony realised: this was the essence of her cutie mark. She was to be the guardian of other worlds, protecting them from evil; that was her destiny.
But Minty also realised that hooves and wings alone were not enough to do this properly.
At that very moment, the pearl seemed to respond to her plea and began to glow with a bright light, enveloping Minty completely in its radiance. When everything returned to normal, she was no longer the same pony as before. A horn had appeared on her forehead, and her wings had grown larger.
From that very day, she continued to watch over different dimensions and protect them from dangers and interdimensional criminals.
Meaning of the cutie mark: The shield is a symbol of protection, the portal represents different universes, the crystal in the centre is herself, the stars represent magic, and the different colours of the shield represent different forms of protection.

Minty loves jellyfish, so she has one as a pet at home.
She also knows Discord, but not very well; they only saw each other occasionally when he opened portals.
I think she’d make a good friend for Pinkie Pie; they have quite similar personalities—both are cheerful and positive.
Minty has a habit of writing down how their day went in a diary; she hasn’t missed a single day yet.
