Here's my contribution to the Ghost In The Machine - Lets Groove MAP! I was so happy to work with everyone and see it all come together after months of working on it and I'm so happy with how it turned out! Description: A streak of smoke descends from the top of the screen, starting off small before bursting once it hits the floor to reveal Clip illuminated in a spotlight. He sways back and forth before posing to the camera, twirling with his arms outstretched as he grins. He draws a hand down and the camera focuses on it's movement as it turns, scrunches up and glides along with the lyrics, transforming back into that streak of smoke that flows out of the frame.

The scene changes to the basement of the mill and a hanging lamp. The light flickers twice, and the smoke streak of Eclipse zigzags around the light an down, dancing as he travels from the physical space of the mill to the digital dreamscape where his smoke trail is caught in glowing ghostly hands.

Ruin looks at his clasped hands, slowly releasing his hold and Clip streaks out in. Clip's smoke circles around Ruin, who tries to follow along, before getting caught as Clip materializes behind Ruin and grasps him. Turning Ruin's face to Clip as Clip sings along to the lyrics, Clip suddenly shoves Ruin away, but is still holding onto one of Ruin's hands with his lower set of arms. Ruin's expression breaks out into a smile as he and Clip dance together. Clip leads Ruin into a twirl, disappearing behind the ghost of Ruin until only his arms are visible from around him. The two ghosts move together as Ruin extends his arms out, first one and then the other, both becoming solid and real in the form of his animatronic body, before he draws them in and hugs himself, at which point all of him becomes fixed and whole.

As a final note, Clip slumps against Ruin's back in an easy embrace and gives his head a little pat as if to say, 'good job', while Ruin beams with a smile.

I'm like super interested in the behind-the-scenes of that scs hijack animatic and I hope you don't mind sharing.. were there any moments where you struggled in a scene? How did you even deal with Jack's hair??? I swear there's a curse on his hair that makes it so hard to draw but you made it look so easy and fluffy. Love your artstyle btw🩷‼️‼️

there were quite a few scenes I struggled with! Like the hand holding part, I wasn't sure how to position them at first but eventually I settled on a similar shot to the chapter 3 storyboard (hands on the lap) I was going to draw Jack holding Hiccup's hand with both hands at first but the movement felt too awkward.

the initial part with Astrid casually resting the tankard on Jack's head was a bit of a puzzle to solve for me as well o(-(

thanks for asking about Jack's hair because that gives me an excuse to draw him again YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To me it seems wild and messy at first glance but once you make sense of the main shapes in his hair it’s really fun to draw.

First I get the basic silhouette down before getting into the fun little swoops.

From what I see there’s three main areas, the fringe, the top of the head and the back of the head. The fringe is kind of a W that goes from (our) left to right, the hair on the top of the head spreads out from a certain point, and the back is quite tame and stays close to the neck. It ends a little below the ears. Kind of a mini mullet

I like to draw two opposing swirls as guides before adding in the swoops. Drawing swoops that go in opposite directions to each other really adds to the messy wind-swept feeling of his design. The swoops start small from the back and get bigger near the top of the head. The hair only really defies gravity at the top, the rest stays close to the head and sorts of wraps around it in short tufts

It looks fluffy so I like to draw the clumps of hair with soft curves instead of hard triangles. Think of frost flowers except it probably feels soft instead of crumble when you touch it.

It's not fully movie accurate but I think it's more fun to be spontaneous with the lines and not be too careful with it. It does help sometimes to revisit the movie and see what landmarks in the design I strayed too far from though

POV: You’re spending Christmas with your Russian friend and things get... specific

Translation for my non-Russian speakers:

"A fly landed on the jam, and that’s the end of the poem."

Context: In Russia, there’s a tradition where kids stand on a stool to recite a poem for Santa (Grandfather Frost) to get a gift. This specific "poem" is a classic joke for when you’re too lazy to recite something long or just want to be a little rebel. Doll is taking it VERY seriously though.
