Lore Summary

Vinca was out with Nucifera and an old dragon in the clan.  She was young and firey, wanted to grow up to help protect the clan, much to the dismay of a lot of the older dragons. They insisted they'd keep her safe, but a pack of steelhounds said otherwise. The other two dragons barely got away, leaving Vinca behind. Vinca came back nights later all fused up with all kinds of other parts, and then went completely nuts. Cleared out a huge section of the lair, many dragons ran away or were lost in the fray. Dark times. The clan leader, Nivalis, managed to get her contained with help from some other mages. She was still weak and newly formed, it was acceptable. Cyperus, the lorekeeper wildclaw, hired Hamamelis, a necromancer to attempt to find a "cure" or some way to deal with her.

Well Hamamelis actually used the opportunity to experiment with emperors, and further her own diabolical studies. She used Byblis as a guinea pig, and ended up raising HIM as an emperor as well, causing yet another giant damaging event to the clan. Also turned out that the reason Vinca paid her no mind unlike all the other dragons was that Hamamelis herself was undead.

So the clan fled, and Hamamelis continued her experiments. She gained a force, lost a force, and raised another emperor, Curassavica.

Everything was becoming chaos, but at least Hamamelis appeared to be staying to the more desolate areas of the southern icefields. She wasn't causing too much damage...but it was clear she was merely biding her time. Upon hearing rumors of a fourth rising, the remaining clan fled to the Sea of a Thousand Currents in order to seek out further knowledge on how to handle this entire mess.

They currently have not found any success. Their faith in Icewarden is waning due to the fact he has not done anything but send a few "golems" to assist in their protection.

Nivalis is hoping that she may one day seek council with Tidelord, and perhaps receive one of his prophecies for an idea on what to do. She has come into the company of Salvia and Irony, two dragons willing to assist her in her living in such a strange new region, and with her quest in general.

I was doing a few art raffles in the recent past to get some examples rounded up for an art shop I am going to be making hopefully. This one is of a wildclaw. I messed up on the colors of her facet a bit...and took some liberties making her water sprite look like a cat.

New Userpage Lore Snippet (4/28/16)

Buried partially in the sands is a notebook. Many of the pages have been eaten away by seawater, though a few still remain in tact. Flipping through the fragile pages reveals the scribblings of an old journal. There are a few pages that are able to be read. Perhaps you take a look? We have made a series of grave mistakes. My clan and I have been great students of the world. We took interest in the archival of plants, studying the weather, and even rescuing a number of birds. Then the clan began to focus on emperors, mighty creatures of imperial origin. We used them as stories, ways to get the hatchlings to go to sleep at night. That was our first mistake. We took up interest in sending our own off to aid in guarding the Southern Icefields, and to act as wardens for the lord of ice in his prisons. All brave dragons they were. Then we found ourselves at the mercy of Vinca. She used to be one of us, wished to grow into a mighty warrior, but was felled due to a pack of steelhounds. We called upon the aid of a necromancer, hoping to find a cure for her. This was our last mistake. We find ourselves now in a foreign land, doing our best to research emperors further. The necromancer, Hamamelis, has at her command three emperors now, and I fear time is running short. Who knows what other vile tricks she has in store for us. Our only hope is that we are able to find a way to stop her and pacify her horde of undead, before it destroys us all. Journal of Cyperus: Pre-Entry 1

Emperors have been a topic of interest in the clan for ages. Dragons would tell their hatchlings tales about the creatures to keep them behaving properly. Mothers would weave tales about the Icewarden requiring strong dragons in case of an attack on the Icefields. Then they would grow up, armed and ready to serve the warden at the Fortress, ready to protect against threats matching bedtime stories. Down here, it is easy to make mistakes. The ice and snow are not forgiving, with only natives being all that comfortable among the barren landscape. Even then, many of them keep to the warmth of the caves. It was a pleasant time when Nivalis brought the clan to the base of the crags. There was finally space for all to stretch their wings and have ample space. We lost some in the move, and others decided to find more hospitable climates. Others still took up the call of Icewarden, pledging away their material possessions to fight alongside the lord of these lands. All brave dragons. Some still keep in touch, but most have faded from clan memory. One grave mistake was made months past. Nucifera and an old clan member allowed young Vinca to travel with them, despite the warnings from the clan. The unnamed dragon, always the cocky one had insisted that she would be fine as long as he were around. Nucifera, apt in healing, assured the same. Their confidence in themselves was misplaced, and they lost the imperial to a pack of steelhounds. They barely escaped with their own lives, rushing back to the clan. Vinca returned as well, many nights later. We heard her cries outside and were met with her mangled form dragging extra limbs and heads. It was terrible. For a moment it seemed as if it were just a mistake, some strange transmutation gone wrong. Then her green eyes glazed over and the limbs she was dragging along with her found life. They came to and unleashed a terrible fury, with the main head asking why she was left behind. Begging, pleading, screaming that it was all our fault for abandoning her, leaving her to rot away under sparks of automatons. Seeking vengeance on those that had ever done her wrong. Nivalis came up with a way for us to capture her deep within the lair. Countless books and theories all mention the feat impossible. She had the best mages tend to the cage as days went by, fortifying it. Vinca was quiet sometimes; though at others all three heads screamed and destroyed anything they could catch. Nucifera had turned into a shell of her former self; took up most of her days in the attempt to find some sort of reversal. She subjected herself to the most brutal of Vinca's screams, allowing her guilt to drive the desire to do everything to help her. Lilium insisted it was too late, but she was always there regardless. The other dragon was ran out of the clan entirely. However, holding an Emperor, no matter how young, is a difficult task indeed. It was decided the clan needed to hire a Necromancer just to keep Vinca at bay. That was our final mistake.
