Norma had begun to eat some of her sandwich as he talked, it was clear on her face that she was enjoying every bite. Her head tilting slightly from the apple conversation. 

“Why would you need to go to a doctor?” She questioned before remembering that nurseries for plants existed, a facepalm following her realization. “Sorry that was a stupid question... but if you come by the cafe I’d be glad to introduce you to them. Though it would have to be in the early morning since we need to get everything ready for the customers and that’s when they come to deliver too.”

She had held back a light laugh after seeing how much he enjoyed the single strand of meat, settling for a soft smile instead. 

“That sounds like a very interesting story, I’ll need to check it out. ” She replied, intrigued by story already. “Adventure stories are really nice, no worlds are ever completely the same and even then it’s described in a new way from character and author.” 

The brunette hummed in thought as she tried to figure out her favorite type of book, unconsciously pouting as her brows slightly furrowed. “I don’t know if I have a favorite type of book, but I do enjoy a good book with character development... so I suppose slice of life? I find new perspectives interesting and how characters go about their decisions.”

“However my favorite book for now is Station Eleven, it’s an apocalyptic story and it switches perspective between the characters who each have different situations. They all handle things in their own way and it just all comes together in the end, I don’t want to spoil anything though so that’s all I’ll say.”

“Do they grow quickly?” She asked, before noticing the waitress making her new rounds. Mouthwatering at the sight of their food on the tray in their hands. 

“Well, I hope you have nice neighbors! Most people in this town are nice, mainly the older folks. I know a few of them some fruit trees, one of my customers even supplies my cafe’s apples. They grow all sorts of them! I’m sure if I asked they could hook us up with some if you’d like.” 

The waitress had soon arrived, placing the pastrami sandwich before Jaqui and a steak sandwich with fries in front of Norma. “Please enjoy, and if you need anything else just wave me over. I’ll come to check on you two in a while!” She commented, receiving a polite “Thank you!” from the brunette. 

The female had munched on a fry before letting out a hum of delight after she heard his question. Her eyes sparkling more at his own answer. 

“I love fantasy books as well! Especially when it mixes with a slice of life or mystery~!” Norma answered, before eating another fry. “What’s your favorite book? Or current one at least?”

//Many of you have asked for Norma’s backstory or who it is she killed... Are you ready?//

“I may have been raised in hatred...but I at least knew kindness. Even if I didn’t know love, I knew happiness at times.” Norma said with a gentle tone, thinking of her father and others. 

The brunette had been playing in the garden using her small amount of free time attempting to make a flower crown. A huff of defeat escaping the child's lips when it broke apart.

“You’ve got to make the gap smaller or else it will rip…Here let me show you.” Her father said, having been watching her struggle from the patio and finally helping.

His tan hands overlapped her own, guiding her through the steps until she got the hang of it on her own. Brown eyes sparkling in awe at the crown of Aster and Pink Camellias, looking up at her father as she was bouncing with joy. The soft look on her father's face made her happy, but she was too young to see the pain hidden behind it. The young girl had run off to show the servants, gaining approvals and compliments on the crown that graced her head. Her father had stayed sitting on the grass, longing for change that was too late.

“I was trained and bred to be nothing less than perfect, ever since the day I learned to walk and then to speak…Anything less and I was punished.” She added, her hand soon lifting up her hair to show a scar that size of a quarter on the back of her neck. “I was even modified to heal myself after being beaten to the brink of death once… just so no one would see.” 

She had let out a shaky breath as she looked to the jewelry box on her lap, the gift her parents left for her 18th birthday. Her eyes dulling as she remembered the worst of her past. 

“I had just turned 16 when they informed me of my arranged marriage, I acted numb and accepted it when internally I begged for freedom. My father was shocked as well… unknown that mother had gone through with it. He wanted me to focus on being the heir to our business, instead of just being wed off. That night after I went to bed, I was awoken by the screaming of my parents, it was rare, but this time it was different. I had snuck out of my room to see the two of them in their room. Things had been thrown, vases and frames shattered, it was the hell I knew all my life in a room. I watched the rage I was so familiar with, be taken too far as my mother pulled a gun from her dresser and pointed it at my father. Her back to me as my father looked to her, the anger in his eyes subsiding at the sight of me… The last look of life was one of apology.”

Tears escaped her eyes as she was experiencing the scene once more.

“Before I knew it, my mother lay on the floor in a pool of blood as her back was filled with nothing but stab wounds that came from the large piece of broken glass in my hands.”

Norma looked down to the blood stained glass in her hands, closing her eyes for a long moment as she recalled the pain of realization. 

“I had been found sitting on the corpse of my mother in a daze when they found me, the servants had called the police and the family lawyer had handled it all. I was left in their care, along with the help of the servants, per the will of my parents. It took five years of therapy, people, and just help of all sorts to get through it.” She said, her eyes opening upon the jewelry box once more. “The company is under the management of the lawyer, the mansion was rebuilt, my parents buried together in the family graveyard, and I am on the run from the family that wanted me to marry their own heir.” 

“ It’s crazy isn’t it..?,” The brunette said with a small chuckle as she wiped her tears. “ It’s been so long since then… and yet , here I am doing better than I ever thought I would....” 

Her gaze had wandered to the framed pictures that were placed upon her dresser, a smile appearing on her face as she gave a genuine closed-eyed smile. “And I’m thankful for all the friends and memories I’ve made along the way.”

“That’s really kind of you to do that! Haha, I’m the same way, I prefer to do things hands on it’s how I was taught.” She replied, her own smile growing from their conversation. “Though it is nice to just sit down and read every so often.” 

“Yes I would!” Norma confirmed, even more excited by his idea. “That sounds nice, it’s been awhile since I’ve gone on a trip somewhere.” A blush of embarrassment had crept its way upon her cheeks at his last question. 

“I often go to the beach during the summer, but I’m having so much fun swimming or napping, that I forget to apply more sun screen.” She answered with a nervous chuckle. “Plus I’m relocated to a beach cafe to help during the summers, since it gets far more busy than it would over here. The work attire there is different than my usual, and since I’m so busy working, I forget to put sunscreen on unless I’m reminded.”

“I keep the necklace my father and mother gave me on my 18th birthday, it stays in its original box most days.” She answered, opening the nightstand beside her bed and taking out a black box. Her slender fingers carefully opening it, revealing a silver chain adorned with a crescent moon and stones that symbolled stars for her.

“Even if the moon is gone, the stars shall follow and guide you. And when the clouds cover the sky, here they will lie together with you...”Norma said, her voice soft and almost dreamlike as she trailed her fingers across each stone.

“When I was younger and was alone, I used to dance freely to whatever tune was in my head. My father would always be the one to catch me doing it...” Norma said her tone joyous before her face dropped as if a memory came back to her.

What the hell do you think you’re doing? You are to follow the steps and orders. Nothing more, nothing less. Only perfection, now you will practice the dance properly until you have everything perfect. You will not stop, even if you’re feet begin to bleed. You will be perfect.

The brunette had been frozen for a moment, soon giving the Anon a fake smile despite her body shaking. “B-But even now I still dance when-when I’m home alone or in the café!”

“That’s really incredible, you’re parents must’ve loved flora.” She assumed, taking a sip of her drink after. “You must have a great memory Jaqui! I’d love to learn from you or get some books on them.” The brunette had then nodded, having actually some knowledge on flora. A chuckle escaping her lips as she joked with him, “Maybe I’ll save money if I raise it well, I think I’ve gotten enough sun burns during the summers.”

Norma had arrived at the mansion out of breath, not bothering to knock as she would usually do and exclaiming an apology while she looked around for the shadow. She didn’t care that she was still in her work outfit or if she got looks from anyone, her mind was set on finding Nathdow and helping him. “Nathdow? Where are you?” She called out, her tone clearly showing her worry.

Aiko jumps at the sudden sound of the doors swinging open. They calm down from the rush and hurried over to Norma.

“Hey whoa clam down a sec!” they say, holding their hands up. “He’s in his room right now. He wanted to be alone but I think he may need to see you.”

Nathdow just smiles at her, resting his hand over the one Norma had over his heart. A soft ahem makes the shadow look up, he sees Aiko and Error.

“So….have you calmed down then?” Aiko asks. “We were going to wait by your door but it seems we don’t have to.”

Nathdow stands to his feet, helping Norma up as well before bowing to his brother and Aiko.

“I’m so sorry for my out burst.” he says, his eyes squeezed shut.

“Nathdow, dude. We’ve had worse happen and you know that, relax.” Error says, flicking his older brother’s forhead. Aiko just sighs and shakes their head.

“He’s right. Whatever it is your going through, we got your back.” Aiko says. “So long as it doesn’t involve anyone almost dying, leaving the mansion forever or kidnapping.”

Nathdow laughs before summoning shadow hands and using them to pull all three into a big hug.

“As long as have you guys and everyone else to bring back to my senses I think I can manage.” he says.

She chuckled after hearing the two enter, gladly accepting his help before giving the two a wave. Her hand holding his whilst they talked. At the their words her free hand had unconsciously rested over her stomach, but didn’t last long before it fell to her side.

“It’s as Aiko said, we’re right here with you.” Norma commented as he hugged them. Her heart warming from his words and actions, relief washing over her.

“Good…good…I’m glad.” He sighs. “I’m sorry…I just. My powers and magic are just so…I don’t know.”

“I have good days. Then really good days and then out of nowhere I feel like a fall backwards.” The shadow adds. “I am going back to the shadow world but I won’t stay there. I just wanna find someone who may know what’s going on with me.”

He then lifts his head up and gives her a serious look. “And before you say it. No you can’t come with.”

She stayed silent, listening to the shadows words. Her mouth opening, but before she could say anything she closed it, resisting a pout from his words.

“I know I can’t...I’ve been lectured before by Pumpkin more times than I’d like to admit.” Norma replied, her hands squeezing his slightly as she looked back into his eyes. “Just be careful Nathdow, I don’t want to lose you...”

“And even if you fall backwards a hundred times, I’ll be there with you, even if it’s not physically.” She added placing her hand over his heart. “I’ll wait for you to come back, no matter how long it takes... I believe in you Nathdow.”
