STOP THE STIGMA!!!
When I was little, I started punishing myself for bad behavior (slapping myself, saying derogatory things to myself) thinking that if I did so I would train myself out of the bad behavior and my abuser wouldn't hurt me anymore. Unfortunately it became a habit that I still do long after I've grown up and gotten away. So many people think I'm so strong to have come out of this with few/no mental problems. I've just always been good at hiding these things.
Hi, many survivors of child abuse have long term effects on their mental health. It sounds like it was a coping mechanism that worked for you at the time and many people have alot of difficulty getting rid of those habits (coping mechanisms) because it is hardwired into our brains almost like a default setting. We have to retrain our brains to respond to situations differently a slow process but you will get there. It can help to have someone to help you do so such as a therapist.
Take care

I'm austitic and very small in size. I'm not very mature or very strong. My sister is 9. She's bigger than me and stronger than me. She hits me and punches me on a regular basis. She beats on me until someone pulls her off. She's 4 years younger than me. Does this still count as abuse?
your sister is too young, your parents should be on top of her behaviour as that is how children learn right from wrong. Your parents should not allow this kind of behaviour and should be interfering whenever this happens. Punishment for certain behaviours is perfectly fine such as time outs or removing something they really like for a while such as internet privelidges away for a short time. your sister needs to learn that violence is not tolerated.
I hope your situation improves

Myth: a child abused by an adult of the same gender will be homosexual.
FACT: same gender abuse has no effect on the sexual orientation of the child.
Myth: children who disclose abuse and later retract their stories were lying about the abuse.
FACT: it is extremely common for children who have truthfully disclosed abuse to retract (take back what they have told) due to negative adult reations to the disclosure of abuse.
repeat after me: i can and i will. i may not get there right away. i may fail multiple or even hundreds of times. but i am going to pick myself back up and eventually get to the point i want to be at in my life.
I love that this is hanging up at my school “k thanks”
My grandfather abused me and my siblings for most of our childhood however it is the best feeling in the world to know that he will never ever hurt my little boy. I will never allow my grandfather to see my son, my son will never know who he is. I have not seen him since i was 13, i am now 22 and will never see him again. The day he dies will be a blessing because it means he can no longer hurt another child as it is he still has contact with my little cousins because child protective services see nothing wrong with it. He abused me with people in the same room, people sitting next to me and they think that having someone with him will prevent it. Well it wont he is very very sneaky and knows how to do it in plain sight and still get away with it but my report to protect them both has gone nowhere and i hate the thought that they have /are possibly being abused. A known child abuser should never be allowed contact with a child ever!
You may not be able to see your own beauty or love yourself but one day, someone will. You have only lived such a small part of yourself, you will never know what the future brings. So, keep going. Hold on. You are never alone. ♥
For my lovely followers whom I love dearly and would be very much aggrieved if I ever found out that they were gone.
I love this post so much
This means alot to me
Hi my mom constantly calls me names swears and makes transphobic comments targeted towards me she leaves me responsible of my siblings as their second mom and gives me most of the chores In the house she refuses to buy my clothes and ignores me most of the time my siblings gang up on me an are used as spies and my mom cuts off contact with my friends and goes through my personal belongings she lives vicariously through me and has hurt me in the past she threw a knife at me but missed 1/?
.
2/? She threw a knife at me but missed my foot my a few inches when I was 8 she hits me when she's mad generally fed up with sibling rivalry and she blames me for everything she really hits me hard and knows all the pressure points since she's a nurse She also chokes me when I don't answer her in time She's normally "normal" but when she's mad she gets really mean I have had an abusive dad in the past and she threatens to send me to his house a lot. Is this emotional and physical abuse? 2/2
Hi its sounds really tough for you at home :( You should not have to go through that. This is definately emotional and physical abuse without a doubt. Is there anyone you can go to for help, maybe a teacher, friends parent you trust or the police or even a helpline in your area?
My abuser just passed away and I couldn't be happier :') I feel so liberated knowing that I never have to see that sick man who ruined a good part of my life again
I am so glad that you never have to see your abuser again :). It is probably also relief that he can no longer harm another child as he did you.I wish you all the best for your future :)Take careAmy
Myth: Most children who are abused do something to cause it.
FACT: The child is always the victim. The responsibility for the abuse lies solely with the adult.
MYTH: Most physical abuse is carried out by men, especially fathers.
FACT: Physically abusive acts towards children are just as likely to be carried out by mothers.
