Draft of Children Record cover from “.dsd –Sidu illustration Works 2011-2015–” . Everyone is properly named, including Azami… except for Kenjirou ("Sensei”) and Ayano (”Answer”). The concept art is no different: they are called “ossan sensei” and “toumei answer” there.
It seems Jin came up with Ayano’s name shortly before Children Record was released, because he revealed it in the day of MV premiere (2012/07/21). Or maybe he just didn’t inform Sidu in time
Translation of Jin’s second livestream from his official YouTube channel. Original video here. Done on commission!
Jin starts out the livestream by greeting everyone, as usual. It doesn’t take long for him to begin talking about how he got mildly scolded by the people from his office recently. The last livestream he had done was completely unannounced and late at night, so by the next day, he was getting tons of comments from people lamenting that they were not awake to watch it in real time. This might not sound like a big deal, but it quite literally means that these fans missed a chance to interact with not just Jin but also with his actual little brother, whom nobody even knew existed until that livestream came out.
Long story short, Jin had to promise to always post about the livestreams in advance. The thing, he explains, is that he usually decides to go live on the spot, when he isn’t feeling very inspired for songwriting. So this time, he started the livestream without making any preparations, all by himself. This livestream has no guests, no sound check, just him standing before the microphone and talking to everyone.
He says he has been doing nothing but write songs lately, to the point he’s been even writing songs in his dreams. He’s lost track of time and keeps wondering if he’s managing everyday life properly. He laments not being able to do multiple things at once when he is in the middle of creating something. When he’s writing songs or novels, he’s physically unable to do anything else. He can’t listen to music or watch TV while he’s at it, for example. That’s why, he adds, he’s shocked at himself for taking the time to do a livestream out of nowhere. He can’t do it while working, but he was listening to some music when taking a break, and felt like opening up a livestream and playing the songs he was listening to.
This is probably the livestream where Jin has taken the shortest time before starting to play a song. He plays “Newton” by Hoshimachi Suisei. He says he really likes the lyrics and the duality that they present. Even though the verses seem to contradict themselves, Jin believes that both sides of the spectrum are true and that human beings are contradictory by nature.
He immediately starts playing the next song after tuning up, which is “Hurrah!!” By Nijisanji. Jin is quite a Nijisanji fan and wishes he could have seen their latest livestream concert. He then talks a little bit about the progress of his current novel. Although he is not yet done with it, he has written past the climax. But he admits he had to take a break at this point, because “people will die if they don’t rest”. Wise words from a man who is definitely not the same as when he punctured a lung from stress. Seriously, this is evolution right there and thank God for that.
Next song is “Game Boy Hour” by Kizuku Yashiro. Jin calls him “Yashiro-san” and says they’ve recently become friends. Yashiro has invited him to do card games once he finished writing his novel. Someone comments they want to see Yashiro do a live concert and Jin agrees. He says he was a guest for an end-of-year corner from Nijisanji’s forum and that it was really fun. There was a musical composition poll in this forum and the most voted song was “Game Boy Hour”, which Yashiro sang in the livestream. Jin says he cried at how cool it was and admires Yashiro very much for always “doing what he wants in the way he wants”.
Jin tries to tune up for the next song, but has some difficulty. He explains that if he goes on for too long without singing/playing, he gets exhausted too easily by the time he starts doing it again. Someone requests that he plays “NEO” by Project Sekai. At first, he hesitates. It’s a fast-paced song and he’s already getting light-headed, so he doesn’t think he can do it. He’s playing it the very next second, though, and actually manages it, but starts coughing once he’s done.
Someone comments they’re groveling as they listen to the songs introduced by Jin in the latest radio talk show that he participated and Jin thanks them. By the time this livestream was coming out, he had been to a radio show from NHK called VR, in which the guests recommend songs they like. He asks everyone to go listen to it if it’s still available in the official site. He also mentions the previous livestream, where his brother participated as a special guest.
At this moment, he notices that there are many song requests in the comments section. One of them is “JUVENILLE” by PokeMiku. He starts whining about how much he can’t do it but immediately does it anyway once again. And once again, he nails it. This time, his throat seems to have taken less damage. Right after he finishes, someone requests “World Calling”. This one he plays without even questioning. Once he’s done, someone comments, “Summer!” and Jin laughs, “That’s your impression of it? ‘Summer’? It’s indeed a summery song, huh?”
Someone requests “Henshin” and while Jin is tuning up to play it, another person requests “Donut Hole” by Hachi, which he decides to do instead, because the request itself was a surprise. He has a lot of trouble tuning up for this one, lol. When he finishes, he muses aloud about how much he’s coughing.
Someone requests “Ao no Sumika” by Kitani Tatsuya, which is a song that Jin feels a lot of sympathy from. Kitani’s music always has him thinking, “I get you, so relatable” even though it’s completely different from his own. Kitani’s sound feels like it’s “pulled by a strange, fantastical melody”. Sometimes Jin thinks he has memorized the melody of the song, but when he listens to it, it turns out to be different. I’m not sure if Jin understands that this is actually a normal thing that happens sometimes?? Also, not very relevant but Jin calls Kitani Tatsuya “Kitani Tacchan”, lmao.
Jin gets distracted reading the comments, and for a moment, the livestream is completely silent. The people in the comments almost think something has happened until he starts talking again. They then start asking if he’s going to upload any cover videos one day, since he has been almost exclusively singing this whole livestream, not much talking. He starts seriously thinking about going around asking permission to cover songs from other artists and wondering aloud what everyone’s reactions are going to be if he ever uploads such videos. People go wild in the comments saying they’ll be waiting for that.
Someone requests “Bakemono” by Hoshino Gen. Another person requests “Haru” by Yorushika, and that’s what he goes with, even though his throat is, in his own words, “just crap today”. He knows that might make people think, “Then why did you start a livestream today of all days?”, but this was the best his throat had been lately. He manages to play the song normally.
Someone asks what type of acoustic guitar he has and he says it’s from a guitar maker called Taylor, 9124E model. He has been using it for over a decade now. When his first album came out, he finally had enough money to get an acoustic guitar, which he had wanted for a while. He got this model and that was that. According to him, it’s always been very easy to use.
He proceeds to play “Haru Dorobou” by Yorushika. After he’s done, he notices he messed up a part of it because he sang it with the wrong pitch. He then tests it out again over and over, always thinking it’s too high-pitched. At some point, he realizes people must be getting tired of this and says, “I’m sorry… I’ll do this properly so forgive me.”
He decides to play a lower-pitched song next and picks out “Shisou-han” by Yorushika. By the time he finishes, he mentions that he loves the lyrics of this one, especially the verse that says, “There’s no way you’d understand how I feel when you’re so nice to everyone”. Someone comments that this song is very summer-like and Jin agrees.
While looking for the next piece to play, Jin remembers “Zoo” by Niru Kajitsu, which he had really liked. As he’s talking about the song, someone says he’s been playing so well that no one would suspect he hadn’t done proper sound check. Jin thanks them and exclaims a little too loudly, “That’s too much praise!”, then goes back to fanboying about “Niru Kajitsu-kun”.
Immediately after playing “Zoo”, Jin sees someone commenting about Harumaki Gohan and starts talking about how good “Boku wa Karen na Shoujo ni Narenai” was. He also really liked “Zero Talking” and asks everyone if they’ve listened to it. A lot of people say “yes” and someone says, “You’re quite simply a fanboy”, lol. Jin attempts to reproduce the melody of “Zero Talking” by playing the guitar while whistling. He begins singing and ends up playing a whole minute of the song. By the end of it, he says the MV was also great and goes on about the many names created by “Harumaki Gohan-kun” to brand his stuff, such as “Studio Gohan” and “Komugiko Licensors”.
(T/N: “Harumaki Gohan” means “spring rolls with rice”, “Studio Gohan” means “Meal Studio” and “Komugiko Licensors” means “Wheat Flour Licensors”. This is genius branding.)
While wondering about what to play next, Jin sees someone in the comments talking about “Mugen no Ticket” by Marasy, whom he also calls “Marasy-kun”. He gets excited and says the song was amazing. He had listened to it over and over after it came out and regrets missing the timing to gush about it on Twitter. In fact, just before the song came out, Marasy did a livestream, and before going live, he phoned Jin and said he was so nervous his stomach hurt. Jin calmed him down, saying that he was going to be okay and everything would go well.
Going back to Kitani Tatsuya, Jin mentions “Suteki na Shuumatsu wo”, after having much difficulty trying to remember the name. He’s actually been having a hard time recalling all of the titles he has talked about until now. At some point, he starts laughing at how “grandpa-like” he was, even the part about never remembering a song title right away. Quite a few people in the comments say they like “Suteki na Shuumatsu wo” as well, and Jin decides to play it. He forgets the lyrics halfway and messes it up, but laughs it off and keeps playing, until he remembers the verse and goes back to playing it until the end.
Someone in the comments says they have just subscribed and Jin replies, “Thank you so much! Those who haven’t yet subscribed to this channel, please do!” and adds that he had always wanted to use that phrase, lol. He’s completely lost in space and time, apparently, as he suddenly asks what day it is. Turns out he’d have to go to the hairdresser the next day, and people in the comments start getting worried because they mishear “hairdresser” (biyouin) for “hospital” (byouin). Jin laughs his butt off, saying that he uses the word “hairdresser” so rarely that he’s started to mess up the pronunciation, but no, he’s not going to any hospital. The comments section then hypes it up, celebrating the fact that “Jin is gonna get a perm”, lmao. Jin says that’s something completely insignificant for them and there’s no need to be so happy about it, but thanks their enthusiasm.
Someone requests any song by Necry Talkie. Jin is actually friends with Necry Talkie’s guitarist, Asahi, whom he calls “Asahi-san”, but according to him, they haven’t contacted each other in a while. Someone suggests “Blue” while the comments section is on fire and Jin asks how the hell everyone knows Necry Talkie. After trying to match pitch several times, Jin finally starts playing “Zoku: Kaeru-kun no Bouken”. He stops midway and warns, “This is where those damn hard chords come in” before he resumes playing. When he finishes, he starts praising the song, and it is then that he realizes he has just sung two of his top three songs of the year. It’s past midnight so he considers ending the livestream there, but someone comments that he hasn’t played enough songs yet.
One user requests “Henshin”, and Jin retorts, “That’s a youkai! There’s a youkai here trying to make me play a song as fast as the devil! I wanna do it, though…” Another one asks for “Kyoukai Necro”, and Jin recalls making Touhou arrangements when he was a teenager, with the older brother of one of his classmates. Someone asks if he won’t do it, and he asks for the right to pass that one. After some pressure from the comment section, he tries to tune up for it, but gives up and leaves it for a next time. Instead, he goes with “Henshin”.
Halfway through the song, Jin pauses to read a comment that said, “You did a great job writing this piece” left by Janku, who had been watching the livestream. Jin slowly finishes the song and then talks about how much he loves it, asking everyone to go listen to it. Janku comments, “Jin-san, I love you” and Jin responds, “Janku-san, you’ve become a weirdo. It’s horrible to call someone who said they love me a weirdo, but still…”
Jin is indecisive about what song to play last. Someone requests “Kisaragi Attention”, another user suggests “Boku wa Karen na Shoujo ni wa Narenai”, and another goes for “Kimi wa Bara Yori Utsukushii Darou”. Someone asks him to do the “cat meme”, referring to a specific trend that was going on at the time of this livestream, with a background music that goes “happy, happy, happy”. Surprisingly, Jin knew about this one, and seriously considers making a cat meme video with the theme “me when I’m writing novels”.
Someone comments that “Days” was a song that comforted them when they were going through a hard time, so Jin decides to play it after thanking them. He plays and sings it in an oddly awkward way at first, probably because he just went straight into business without warming up this time. When he’s done, someone comments they also love “Red” and Jin says he loves it too. He says the melody is similar to one of his other songs and starts playing and humming it. He asks the comments section if anyone knows which song that is. No one has enough time to guess before Jin starts singing it. It’s “Shounen Brave”.
Jin is going full KagePro mode now. Immediately after he finishes “Shounen Brave”, he starts playing “Yuukei Yesterday”. Hearing Jin sing the “lalalala” part was so funny, good God. He then says that, according to rumors, it’d been 13 years since he uploaded “Jinzou Enemy” (at the time that this livestream came out), and he could barely believe it. Of course, it wasn’t rumors, it was simply the truth, and now it’s been 14 years, but Jin couldn’t process that fact, lol. He’d catch himself thinking, “No way, that’s a lie. It’s only been 5 years. As expected… I was way too shocked.”
Again, there is a moment of silence as Jin reads the comments. Someone says, “Are you Frieren? Lol” and another person tips in with, “That’s so emo”. Jin laughs at these but agrees with one user who says that time passes too fast for human beings. Just when the mood seems to be getting a little heavy, he breaks the ice by saying that he’d intended to do the livestream on a steadier pace. He was planning to just play songs one after another and the announcements in-between would be a simple “okay, now I want to play this one”. Contrary to his expectations, however, he was being super indecisive choosing the songs and wasting a lot of time with small talk. His playing and singing was also kind of a mess, so he apologizes to the viewers while laughing.
Someone in the comments says, “I was 8 years old 13 years ago” and Jin swoons, “8?! Seriously? So that means you’re 21 now. Isn’t that crazy? You were 8 at the time and now you’re 21. That’s crazy.” It gets lost in the translation but Jin’s way of speaking turns feminine when he says this, so one user comments, “You’ve turned into a lady all of a sudden” and he replies with, “It had me so shook I became a woman”. Someone jokes, “I’m 2 years old, actually” and Jin retorts, “You’re 2? Is it okay for you to be awake at this hour? What day of the week is it? You can’t be up so late.”
Someone, apparently the same person who said they were 8 back when “Jinzou Enemy” came out, says, “I’ve become an adult” and Jin says there’s a surprisingly fun side to becoming an adult. Another person says, “Maybe there are people here who hadn’t even been born yet back then” and Jin replies, “‘Hadn’t been born’?! That’s insane. If there’s anyone here who hadn’t yet been born 13 years ago, you’re amazing for getting all the way here. Incredible.” One user says, “Whoa, that means people who were in high school back then are now in their 30’s!” and Jin congratulates those people without much thought, then goes, “Wait, congratulations for what?!”, lol. Someone says they’re now in their second year of university. Might be the 21-year-old fella.
Jin tries to remember what he was doing when he was 21, and turns out that’s when he was writing “Yuukei Yesterday”. He says 13 years is a lot to go by so fast, and yet everyone is hanging on with their lives, which he thinks is praiseworthy. Someone chides, “Time does pass too fast for humans, Frieren-san” and Jin snorts. Another person jokes, “So people who were 1-year-old babies back then are now in university” and Jin loses his shit. “There’s no way someone would be going to university at 14! That’s too manga-like! There’s no such genius who can just breeze through it like that! It hasn’t been long enough for someone who was a baby at the time to get into university. We have a manga character in the chat!”
Jin starts laughing at the fact that, in the middle of so many comments talking about the same topic, there’s a single comment that just says “Yobanashi”. He says he loves out-of-the-blue things like that. He feels from this person a strong sense of “I don’t give a damn about whatever it is that you’re discussing, just play ‘Yobanashi Deceive’”. Jin decides to do it but forgets what comes after the verse “boku wa gomakasu”. For some reason, his brain was telling him to sing the verse after that one instead. Embarrassingly enough, he decides to check the lyrics, but remembers it before he gets to do that.
Jin plays the rest of the song successfully and the first thing he says afterward is “This song is so difficult! What the hell is this?! I thought I was gonna die. Thank you very much.” Someone comments, “I got the chills when the lyrics said, ‘it’s been about 10 years’” and Jin agrees, “That’s exactly what I thought. Like, ‘So that’s what this verse is trying to say’. I just realized it.” For some reason, he says the first sentence with a Kansai dialect, lol.
“The KagePro songs are so nice” is something that probably the people who watch (well, listen) to Jin’s livestreams are used to hearing by now, but I particularly like how much he loves his own works. He adds that he doesn’t have any chances to play his old songs in concerts and things like that, and when he’s creating songs, he’s always thinking about making new things. Therefore, the livestreams are a pretty good opportunity for him to be able to play his earlier works.
One user says, “The ‘monster’ has turned 13” and Jin laughs, “Stop! The ‘monster’ might come!” Another one requests a song that “feels like one has become an adult”. Jin seems to think “Loss Day Hour” is the most fitting for this one. He has to pause to clear his throat before resuming and playing without any additional hitches until the end. As per usual, he praises the song and thinks it’s a very “I see what you did there” kind of song. He asks the audience if they think the same, and wonders why he even made this song to begin with. Then he laughs, “Amazing that not even I know.”
After that, he plays a small part of the song again. Out of the songs he has played so far, this one is definitely the one he has played most softly. He trails off slowly to say that the lyrics really match where he’s at in life. He thinks those who can listen to this song and understand it are fulfilled and have a high level of comprehension. He knows that this sounds like a roundabout way to indirectly pat himself on the back, but he hopes people can let him have that one. He truly believes he wrote a great song. Then again, he thinks all his songs are great, lol.
Someone comments that “My Funny Weekend” is also great. He agrees and starts playing it right away. He stops again to clear his throat, but not before talking about how much he likes the chorus of this one. Someone says they can clearly see in their head the scenes mentioned in the song and Jin is very happy about this. He wrote the song with Hiyori in mind, and he thinks that having the chorus starts with the words “move forward” is very in-character for her.
Someone asks him to talk about “Imaginary Reload” next and, for some reason, he gets embarrassed. He warms up a bit with the guitar, but stops when he sees someone comment that it’s 10 minutes to 1AM. He can’t believe how long he’s been doing this for (2 hours and 12 minutes by now). Regardless, he starts playing “Imaginary Reload”, lmao. He stops halfway to fawn about the lyrics, and then announces that he plans to make lots of songs this year.
Someone comments about the film tape sound in “Imaginary Reload” and Jin says it connects with the one in “Ever Youth Roadshow”. He loves this thing where the ending of one song links to the beginning of another. “I’m just out here making stuff that I like.”
When Jin started composing “Imaginary Reload”, he had pictured it as puppetry. For some reason, the verse “I stop being myself and a sad story begins” feels like puppet theatre to him. He’s very passionate about this verse in particular, as well as the part that goes “I took the me that stopped being me and offered it to you, and the day you accepted it smelled of blood”.
Jin adds that he’s making a new song and hopes he’ll be able to release it soon. On the topic of making new songs, he’s been having lots of meetings lately because of that, and every time he meets new people at work, they keep telling him, “I thought you’d be way more intimidating.” He asks if he really seems to be THAT scary of a guy and the opinions in the comments section are split between yes and no. He takes that as a sign that he’s not very open and decides to be more frank with his emotions.
Someone says he seems like “an otaku type of big brother” and Jin agrees that this is probably the truest definition of him, but perhaps he’s a little too stoic. He also believes that his image extends to his songs as well. When he’s making them, he has a depressive aura around him. Maybe that makes people feel a certain amount of pressure in interacting with him. He thinks he should be more friendly and nice even during those times.
Janku suggests from the comments section that maybe he should make an ultra happy song for a change. Jin laughs at that, but he does want to venture into different genres. Just on the completely opposite direction, lol. He had tweeted about this before, but he really wanted to make foul-mouthed songs. He’d been making only serious songs lately, and he wanted to go back to making songs like “GURU”, which he wrote on a whim without any plan and without thinking about anything in particular. The making of it was an extremely fun process precisely because of that.
Someone says they want Jin to stay a child, and he plays along, “Okay, I’ll regress to childhood. Everyone, please be my caretakers.” Except, when he says “caretakers”, he accidentally uses the word for elderly care instead of child care, lmfao.
Going back to “Imaginary Reload”, he had “Bakuten Shoot Beyblade” in mind when playing it at the studio. I was not ready for this piece of information. Another piece of information that probably no one was ready for is that Jin seriously wants to try rap. Jin always complains when people ask him to play fast songs, but he actually loves fast-paced lyrics. Still, no one ever asks him to write rap songs, which is a personal disappointment of his, lol. He admits that it’s probably because he doesn’t have the image of a rapper.
Someone suggests that he write a rap song first and see if it flies. Jin realizes that maybe the reason why no one requests him to make rap songs is that he never made one of his own, so nobody knows whether he can pull it off or not. Perhaps if he makes a rap song, people will start commissioning him to make more. Either that or they will have no reaction, lol.
Another user says they’d be sad if Jin turned into a tacky guy, and he teases, “Maybe I should try that out? How about I start wearing earrings? Should I open holes in my ears? I swear my lack of care for my own person is surreal. Should I try to get earrings? Though if that’s my idea of tacky, it already sounds too weak.”
Someone tells him to get a perm and he loses his shit. He says he might as well do it and Janku starts crying in the comments. Someone else tells him to get a tattoo. He laughs even more, “The moment you think about kicking it off by changing your appearance, it’s already a fail.”
In a comments section flooded with “get earrings/piercings/tattoos”, someone jokes, “Tacky Jin is a no-go” (チャラジンはちゃう). That doesn’t translate well since it’s in Kansai dialect, but it was a smart pun. Someone else says, “You have to make introverted songs until the very end” and Jin asks, “Since when was I making introverted songs?! No way! Is that so?!”
Someone tells him to get a nose piercing. He says it’d be really funny if the guy who wrote “NEO” showed up with a shitton of piercings. It’d be even funnier if someone interviewed him like, “So you manage to sing with all those piercings?” He would answer, “It’s NEO big deal.”
“You’d look like someone who lives overseas,” one user says. Another one asks, “Didn’t you bring up this topic because people were scared of you and you were feeling bad about it??” And this reminds Jin of the initial point of this conversation. It started out as him asking the listeners if he was really that intimidating and snowballed into him being full of piercings. “What’s up with this waste of time?!” he asks, forgetting that he’s the one in control of the whole exchange.
Jin changes the subject by saying he wants to invite Marasy for a livestream, where Marasy would play the piano. Someone asks if Jin is ever going to become a V-Tuber, to which he says his V-Tube debut is just not happening anytime soon. In fact, if he ever shows signs that he’s trying to become a V-Tuber, everybody would get angry at him. Besides, he has no idea what his virtual version could be like. He did participate in a virtual concert once where he had to use a bear avatar, but that was different.
He asks for ideas, and of course, people suggest an avatar full of piercings. This sends him. He wants something cuter, like Marasy. Other listeners suggest a jersey-wearing avatar. He says this could be a good idea, but if he’s going to pay money to create it, he might hesitate on using it for such an unimpressive design.
Someone else suggests a female avatar with big boobs. Surprisingly, Jin thinks that guys who pick sexy big boob avatars are “gross as hell” (he says this part in Kansai dialect for some reason, lol). He wonders how many people would keep watching if he ever turned up like that one day. “That’s our big brother,” one user says. He wonders if it’d work out if he used a voice filter and some people say yes, recommending that he practices doing “moe voices”. He jokingly pretends that he’s going to do it, wondering how far he’d be able to go without people leaving him.
Someone says he just has to do it like Tomari Mari. Jin agrees that their voice is indeed really cute, even though he’d heard that they’re actually an old man. Another user says he should keep his voice the way it is and not change it. Jin finally breaks and asks everyone what the heck is going on with them.
Yet another user reminds him not to forget the fanart tag, so that people can draw his avatar and post to their social media. This causes Jin to start making up scenarios in his head of what would happen if he took everyone’s suggestions and just blended them together into one avatar. Everybody would be in shock if he showed up online like that. Surely even Yashiro, who is generally known for being a nice person, would be caught off-guard. He’d probably try to be polite and say things like, “Oh, so that’s what you’re doing now. Facing a new challenge, huh?”
“Speaking of Yashiro-san, apparently, he likes tomboyish girls who wear shorts,” someone comments. Jin jokes, “What if I try to go for Yashiro with my avatar? Maybe I should aim for the kind of look that he likes.” One user says, “Jin is out to get Yashiro-san” and Jin begs them to stop, lmao.
Someone says that maybe he should make short videos with edits of the design ideas. He considers making shorts in general, in order to get more subscribers. Or perhaps he should make a viral video. Someone else says he should do cat memes in order to go viral and Jin replies unironically, “Great! That’s the kind of thing I wanna do this year!”
He probably wants to do this for the funsies as well, but he also hopes these silly shenanigans will change the scary impression that people have of him. He talks about this one time he went to do a radio show with Nijisanji and everyone seemed very retracted when greeting him. Maybe if he made some “Jin memes”, his image would do a 180-degree flip.
Someone suggest him to do a morning routine video. Jin says that’s a bad idea because he spends the morning sleeping like a log. “Should I just post a video of me sleeping, then?? What a horrible picture that’d make. It’d be like those cameras inside animal enclosures at zoos, probably. That’s my morning routine. I’m just unconscious the whole time. Would anyone wanna see that? I think it’d just make people sad. It’s a reality that ‘makes people want to avert their eyes’.”
Looks like Jin sometimes falls asleep with only half of his body on the bed. He basically just passes out before he can even lie down. That’s very reassuring to know coming from the guy who literally opened a hole in one of his lungs from overworking himself.
Someone asks what Jin’s room is like. He says “no comment”, lol. Someone else says, “Must be such a pretty little solitary cell” and Jin retorts, “Stop, seriously. I’m literally going back to my cell after this. I really don’t wanna end this livestream and go back to reality. Like, ‘Here we go again’…”
Jin notices the time and realizes he should probably end the livestream soon because it’s almost 1:30 AM. He has to go to the hairdresser later and “you have to do that during normal people hours”. This is seriously hell for him because his circadian rhythm is completely reversed. He wishes there was a hairdresser for “non-humans” that he could go to in the middle of the night. The way this man talks about himself, istg.
On the brighter side, he wishes he were more self-conscious. He wonders how self-conscious people spend the night, but the only thing he can think of is listening to city pop, lol. Someone says, “Self-conscious people spend their nights sleeping” and Jin loses it. “They do skincare and sleep early,” a second person adds. “They don’t do livestreams late into the night,” a third person chimes in. “I know that!” Jin replies, while a fourth person suggests he writes a song while listening to city pop. A fifth person asks, “If self-conscious people go to sleep early, then what does that say about everyone in this comment section?” Jin decides to get philosophical and asks back, “I feel like the term ‘self-conscious’ is being turned into a vague stereotype lately. What even IS a self-conscious person, anyway?”
Out of nowhere, someone asks him what he thinks of a software called Synthesizer V. Jin answers that yes, he knows it and loves it. Apparently, newer versions of this software feature Kasane Teto.
Jin was impressed that someone was suddenly starting a normal conversation, when someone says, “I’m highly self-conscious, so I’m taking a bath while listening to this.” Speaking of doing things in the bath, Jin apparently listens to music when he’s soaking in the bathtub, because that’s the first thing that comes to his mind. He points out that new songs featuring Gumi had come out that year (2024).
Someone says they want Jin to make a song using Chis-A. Jin says he’s listened to her and that she was good. Someone says that the new VOCALOIDs feel like some sort of VOCALOID “gaiden” and Jin agrees. Honestly, that describes it perfectly.
Jin thinks he should go back to songwriting when he’s done with this livestream and asks what everyone is doing after this. He’s sure everyone’s going to sleep, but a single person says, “I’m gonna study a bit more” and he replies, “You’re too good!”
Some people say they’ll go to sleep, others say they won’t. Jin is taken aback by the ones who say they won’t. Someone says, “I’m already in my futon.” Another person jokes, “I’m already sleeping.” One random motherfucker says, “I’m gonna make myself some sushi as a late-night snack.” Jin replies, “Is it really okay to be doing that at this hour?!”
“I have a health exam tomorrow, so I’m going to sleep,” says one user. Jin says goodbye and wishes them good luck. “I have to go to work tomorrow, so I’m going to sleep,” says another user. Jin tells them to do their best and to go the hell to sleep.
His phone buzzes. He’s got a LINE message scolding him. He assumes that it’s his agency worried about his sleep schedule. He admits that he’s terrible at keeping track of LINE messages when he’s busy with songwriting and that he’s bad at replying in general.
He realizes that the LINE is from Janku and is terrified. Not in the humorous way, he’s scared for real of what the message might say. It’s possible to hear him tapping his phone and then him letting out a big sigh of relief. Most likely, the message was nothing bad or serious. He admits, once again, that he’s terrible with LINE. He’s mentally at a loss when it comes to a lot of things in life. Keeping in touch with others is one of them, which is why he’s super scared of messaging apps.
He’s also bad with social media in general. Other than his X account, which he still calls Twitter, he doesn’t have any other social media. Technically, NicoNico and YouTube are social media, but he isn’t factoring them in, probably because they’re not platforms where he makes announcements or posts about everyday life updates. Other than tweeting stuff, he doesn’t do anything to promote himself and barely has any contact with the outside world.
Someone says they have an entrance ceremony to attend in the morning, so they have to go to sleep. Jin gets nostalgic about the times he had to attend entrance ceremonies as a student. And then he starts to think that he really should go to sleep, lol. “Sleeping is also important, Jin,” someone says, rather demandingly, in the comments. Jin agrees.
Jin thanks everyone for tuning into this play-and-talk livestream, although there was too much talking and too little playing. He wants to invite Janku over for a livestream one day. When he asks what time everyone thinks he should begin the livestreams, since this one started really late, some people say that 8 or 9 PM would be a good time. Others fuck around by suggesting either even later times (0 AM to 1 AM) or impossibly early times (10 AM to 11 AM).
He wonders if it’s okay to be doing livestreams without any substance, but a good chunk of the people in the comments say that this is exactly what they need and ask him to do more of it. Yuruto is in the comments screaming, “Jinpine Radiooo!!” and instead of assuring him that the Jinpine Radio will continue, Jin says he’ll invite Yuruto for a livestream one day too, lol.
One user says his aimless livestreams are so good that he should open for super chat donations. “Are you serious? Who would have ever imagined a future where I’d be getting super chats for just talking nonsense? Sounds great, though. Who doesn’t want to go to a future that nobody could have predicted, right? Guess I’ll do it. I’ll open for super chats. Although I don’t think at all that I’m gonna get a lot of them. I really just wanna be able to say ‘thanks for the super chat’.”
Bless this guy.
Someone comments, “For every super chat you earn, you have to get a new earring or piercing.” Jin replies, “There’s one fella with horrible intentions here!”
He decides that he’ll open for super chats just once as a test. He would like to do it in a livestream where he’s playing video games, which he really wants to do. People realize he might really do it and someone comments they’re scared of that. “If you’re scared, that’s absolutely the right reaction. I really might do it,” Jin retorts.
As he’s wondering how he’d read the comments while playing a video game, someone recommends him to do a livestream teaching people how to play the guitar. He says he’s not qualified for teaching others. “All I can teach is lies.” Whatever the hell that means.
Someone suggests he play Genshin Impact and he says he’s playing it with Saiyuki. They really are Shintarou and Haruka in real life, huh.
Another user points out that it’s almost past 2 AM. Jin panics but people are asking him who his bias is in Genshin. It takes him a hot minute to figure out that this means his favorite character. It’s Zhongli, whom he calls “Zhongli-sensei” (pronounced “Shouri-sensei” in Japanese). Someone says they’ll start playing Genshin since Jin is doing it.
Someone asks him to play one last song. Jin hesitates, since the mood is very much not set for it. However, after a lot of the usual indecisiveness from him and some warming up, he plays “Stella”. Just not before someone jokes in the comments, “This was a play-and-talk livestream?! I’d forgotten about that.”
After he’s done playing, he says his goodbyes and thanks everyone once again. He also promises to do better in the next one. The livestream ends here.
OK…. I saw some posts clarifying that the Meka Trio are foster kids since their last names were not changed into “Tateyama”. So I just wanted to add on another 100% clear fact that they were, indeed foster kids.
Kagerou Daze V - the deceiving -
(pg. 133)
Kano: “Kido got taken in by the foster parents one week later”
(Note: At this moment, the Meka Trio thought that only Kido was going to be taken in by the foster parents (Tateyamas), since she was the only one who was informed. Few pages later, it shows that actually all of them were going to be taken in.)
From this line in the 5th novel, it was made clear that the Meka Trio were taken in as foster kids to the Tateyama family. In the original Japanese novel, manga, or any other official content, it was never said that they were “adopted ( 養子 )”.
It is up to your interpretation for how the characters see each other as, but yes, the Meka Trio were never adopted, they were fostered, and they are not family in law.
