This is so important - we canât compare trauma experiences, it is all valid. Even two people who go through the same trauma can react differently.
coming to terms with it
Hahahahaha. This is way too accurate.
hold it inside and let it rot
âyou should start living in the real worldâ says parent unable to face reality of being an abuser and psychologically damaging their own child each and every day of their life
*bangs pans together* society wonât even acknowledge the epidemic of child abuse and is failing to protect us as children but is great at abandoning us as adults
be careful with me
Abuse Victims- Can You Relate??
Being able to read a personâs microaggressions without even trying (Heâs upset. I donât know how I know heâs upset, but he is). Iâm always right.Â
Being able to hear a lie in someoneâs voice without looking at them.Â
Unconsciously being aware of every shift in the room, but still jumping a mile when someone comes up from behind.Â
Forcing your body into autopilot when life just gets too hard to handle, but then realizing youâre dissociating and trying to bring yourself back.Â
That stare that all your friends call your âresting bitch face.â
Nearly punching people in the face when they scare you.Â
Being amazingly good at one thing because you had nothing else to do as a kid (for me, reading and writing).Â
People calling you mature for your age.Â
People being stunned at the fact that you know more life skills than a thirty year old.Â
On the other hand, cringing when you donât know how to do something everyone else knows how to do.Â
Constantly feeling tired no matter how long you sleep.Â
Telling a story about your childhood, and stopping halfway through when you realize everyone is horrified.Â
Not understanding why people complain about taxes and insurance and money while youâre just happy you get to have plants in your room now.Â
Having absolutely no control over your emotions, yet everyone thinks youâre so level headed and mature because youâre not physically capable of showing it.Â
Let abused kids hate their parents. Stop telling them they should forgive their parents. Stop victim blaming us
Just because you didnât understand what was happening at the time doesnât invalidate the abuse. Just because your abuser appeared to not know what they were doing doesnât invalidate the abuse. Abuse is abuse is abuse no matter what.
abusive parents will act like most selfish, spoiled, tantrum-throwing children and then insist on their children acting like adults
childhood: abusive
past: repressed
family: dysfunctional
Hotel: Trivago
Abused children never really grow up.
