Day 82
We had morning class and I took a nap that afternoon. My host mom planned an event where this orchestra came and played at our university. It was a lot of fun and we taught Da Ma how to say tequila because they played the song Tequila. It was super cute. I had it on video of her saying “Wo ai ni, Tequila” which mean I love you, Tequila. BUT OF COURSE I LOST THE STUPID SD CARD THAT HAD THOSE VIDEOS ON IT. SO MAD. That night we went to Reggae, S.O.S. and Coco Jeffs. We always have a good time. I think it was Jess, Josiah, Deanna, Megan and Katie that went. We always got free alcohol, which was fun.
Day 81
05/08/2013
I finished a paper and assortment planning and had class in the afternoon. My host buddy, Jessica, helped me order a few things online. I got two pairs of shoes and three Bart Simpson things. I hadn’t been to a street market and really wanted to go, but the people who said they would go with me didn’t want to, so I was really upset about that. I’m thankful that Anna came back to go with me. By the time we got there they were pick their stuff up because it was raining. I have never negotiated so fast in my entire life! I wish I could have spent more time there. This was the day I was so fed up with people and realized how unreliable people can be sometimes. I wrote down in my little notes that I had a deja vu at the market, but I don’t remember what it was. BOO.
Day 79 & 80
These two days were spent dedicated to homework. I studied my butt of to pass my Mandarin exam and then I had to finish assortment planning which was a huge joke. I had no idea what I was doing. I guess I found something new to eat, but I dont have a clue on what it was...GOD I MISS CHINESE FOOD THOUGH.
Day 77 & 78
(Days are confusing after over two years)
Here I am, trying to live these moments that happened almost three years ago...I’m pathetic. HAHAHA UGHHH...I just don’t want to ever forget though.
This day we woke up around 3:30 to catch the sunrise. This morning was 200% unforgettable. We went to one of the peaks that was probably around 10 minutes away from our room. We had a nice view and had a big rock to sit on. What an incredible experience to have with so many other people. The sun rise was beautiful, so blue and orange. It was weird to see such vivid colors for once...living in the city really made me appreciate this moment. The clouds formed a heart formation and it was breathtaking. I have a hard time writing this because of how perfect that moment was. I was supposed to be there at that time...I was suppose to see that. It’s a very hard describe. I haven’t had that feeling in a while so I guess that’s why it’s so special to me.
We went back to our room to rest, since we were up so early. The rooms had a lot of bunk beds but not many people were staying there. So we headed on a hike later to find our way back to the cable car and we got SO LOST. We kept back tracking and couldn’t figure out where we were or the specific peaks we wanted to see. The trails were so steep that I almost had a panic attack. Thank God for Josiah, otherwise I’d still be on that mountain.
When we were making our way down the mountain we made a pit stop at a spa, hot springs place. It was so relaxing after freaking out on the mountain that I felt like I was being reincarnated into a mermaid or something. We were there for a while and got to relax in different hot springs that had jasmine and other things in them. I went into a hot spring that had fish in it and they nibbled on my dead skin, super hilarious. I think Jess did that with me, but I dont exactly remember. This part was such a fun part of the trip with lots of laughter.
We eventually made it back to the a village near where our hostel was. We ended up eating a super late supper at another restaurant that seemed like we were just eating in a strangers home. SO WEIRD...PROBS SUPER UNSAFE. I’m alive, oh I don’t remember if we then walked the rest of the way home or if we got someone to come pick us up but for some reason I remember walking all the way back in the dark which was like a mile or two.....in pitch dark....i felt like we were going to be attacked by an animal or something.
Jessica and I ended up staying up a little later and did homework and talked about what the hell just happened on the mountain. She literally thought I was going to die. That’s how bad I was panicking, I needed less stuff and my inhaler. I’d do it again in a heartbeat but need less stuff for sure and better lungs haha.
The next day was pretty much spent getting back home and then doing homework. Mei Mei kissed me on the cheek and I about died. She was so cute. Miss her. (Mei Mei means little sister.)
Finishing
I am incredibly disappointed in myself for not finishing my 90 day posts sooner... Unfortunately I do not remember the small details of the remaining days anymore...
Going to finish this up though.
Is it bad that I usually lay in bed and think about China...every night....
<big sigh>
nobody says it but we all know what this is about

Day 76 5/3/2013
This morning we got up and packed to go up Yellow Mountain. We were brought back to where the bus station was and we were dropped off and left to kind of figure things out on our own. Which seemed to be a difficult thing for us to do. We couldn't find a bank that would allow the others to get money out and we walked up and down the street of this town and we had taxi's asking us if we needed rides and it was super annoying and was getting hot out. We ended up eating at KFC and just taking time to relax after figuring everything out. FYI to everyone if you every go to Yellow Mountain buy water BEFORE you climb the mountain...supply and demand....it's priced higher the further up you are.
So we had to take a bus up the mountain and get to the tram which brought us up to the top. It was so high up..........omg. It freaked me out. Heights and me don't work well with each other but I was determined to make it work. We had to figure out where our hostel was and it took so long to find it. We had to hike around until we found it. We also had problems getting our room too. I don't remember why...but it took awhile. So they took us to our room...little did we know that we would be sharing this room. It was fine, but I packed heavy and had my camera supplies...so later on I had to carry everything...it sucked. I was going to leave stuff in the room. So we went on a hike and explored Yellow Mountain. Truly amazing but the height made my really unsteady. It started getting dark really fast and we had to find our hostel in the dark which was difficult and we went in circles for awhile....
We ate in the restaurant in the main lobby and it was supper expensive and at this point in the trip I'm completely over guess what to eat and if I'm going to like it. It was unbearable and I was pretty hungry. We then went to the little souvenir shop and bought some water for the next day and got some gifts. I bought a deck of cards for my dad that had pictures of yellow mountain on them.
We chatted with our roommates and made friends with one of the guys. He worked in Shanghai and was on holiday by himself, but his English wasn't too strong so we went to bed. It was a good thing we went to bed too because we had to get up early to see the sunrise at like 3am!
Day 75
May 5th, 2013
So this was our first full day in Huangshan, and Katie and I took a taxi (car lol) to Emerald Valley so we had something to do before Jo and Jess arrived. It was absolutely beautiful. There were great hiking trails...you would think we'd be hardcore climbing but we weren't roughin it too bad. This valley had a river flowing through it and it was sooo blue it was like ocean blue. I remember really enjoy the scenery and being not surrounded by so much city life. I could have spent all day just sitting near the river.
So we went back to our hostel because Jess and Jo had arrived and we tried to find a place to eat, but it was so hard to know where to eat because nothing was busy and overflowing with people....it was hard to know if any places were even open. AWKWARDDDDDD. lol but we ate at this place across the street and there were these people dressed in like prom dresses doing a photo shoot for something. It was interesting because you have like population 10 people and then 4 of those people are in prom dresses like wahh...
I remember hating the food there and just wanting to have pizza or something fattening and delicious. lol
But later on we all went to the monkey valley to see WILD MONKEYS. AHHHH. It took forever to figure out how to actually get there. It took a lot of walk...on a gravel road in the middle of no where...away from the town we were in. So we were going up to the gazebo that they normally hang out in but then we ran into this old Chinese man (who didn't speak a lick of english) and he showed us to where the wild monkeys really were! I tell ya it's impressive seeing these old people climb and hike like they do. So we found the monkeys and it had turned out that there were people from Washington State University who were studying their behavior and they do that annually I believe. But it was super cool! We got to see WILD MONKEYS!!! We were able to get so close to them and they were running all over the place. I even got monkeys having sex video taped haha it was the fastest thing ever. I just happened to be recording it. But we spent awhile there and once the people studying them left we decided to leave to because it probs wasn't safe for us to be there. It was such a long tiring day. We went to this market store that was at the beginning of the gravel road to get some food because we were starving. Then we tried getting a taxi and I remember it being so sketchy and scary. Like are we supposed to go with you??....but we did and told them to bring us to Huangshan and our hostel name. We decided that we probably should grab supper even though it was like....9pm in the town near our hostel. So our taxi driver just like dropped us off at the side of the road near this round about...super awkward and we had to walk a ways to find a legit place that was open. It was a really good place and had nummy eggplant. It was marvelous.
There was a path to the location to where our hostel was but we didn't know if we should take it or not because we had ZERO light. and it was a longgggg walk. It would have been scary. So we had someone from out hostel come pick us up. When we got back there was this like bonfire thing going on, so we thought it'd be a smart thing to go to. Figured there'd be more foreigners staying at our hostel. NOPE. just Chinese people. and we were pretty sure it was for a special occasion or celebration because there were like cooking stuff around the campfire and it was just awkward. So we left that real fast and played near the train thing for a bit.
