My OB kept me waiting an hour and a half. Good thing I had this guy to keep me company. Thanks sugarmaus!
The adventure will be yours and mine today. // Do you intend to point a gun at me?
Got tired of my husband reading my tumblr over my shoulder and told him to make his own. He’s scrolling through Hannibal- themed blogs as we speak. It’s adorable. ETA: LOL I just caught him searching “Will Graham Dogs”. I love this man.
I think that Hannibal himself does not have a master plan for life itself. He does not have a master plan with what he wants to do with Will’s character. He is, he is being inspired by what happens every day. He can definitely change his path. But I mean he has a philosophy of life, as I’ve said before: life cannot be boring, it has to be very interesting every second, every single second. And for that reason, I think that meeting Will Graham was a surprise to him, and I think it surprised him how big an impact Will had on Hannibal. So he took a couple of detours. He had one plan that was making a family with Will and Abigail; that went down the drain. And now he has a second plan just to get close to Will again and play with him.

Okay I loved the finale but one thing that drove me nuts is I live in Virginia and there are literally no cliffs in our state like that, or anywhere around us on the eastern seaboard. I know it's just a little detail but I feel like it's important for some reason and I'm annoyed
‘hannibal’ tried to fool us all into believing there’s cliffs by the sea in virginia, but you didn’t buy it
i guess we could say you…
called their bluff
I feel you: in the books Dolarhyde hid in a sand dune in the Florida Keys... only there aren’t sand dunes in the Florida Keys and I’ve never been able to get over it.
So it’s official: I’m pregnant.
This is literally what I feel like every damn day.
Ugh.
Who would've thought that the secret to Will being able to manipulate Hannibal was to reject him coldly & completely. The 1st time he does it, Hanni surrenders his freedom and all that goes with it (life style, riches, murdering, etc) and the 2nd time he gives up on life itself. Is it because if he can't have Will he doesn't want to live anymore? Isn't that a bit ooc for Hannibal? And in any case, why?
Hmm well there’s a few points to unpack here:
1) OOC compared to what? XD; The most consistent character trait of Hannibal-the-TV-show-character is that he has zero chill where Will Graham is concerned. I know there were a lot of people who thought in S1 that he was only manipulating Will for the lulz, or that Will meant no more to him than Jack or Alana or anyone else with whom he tried on “friendship” as a game, and I think that was a valid/tenable reading in S1 but not the most likely one even back then. And it hasn’t been a tenable reading since the beginning of S2. Basically, if you thought that in S1, it’s not that the show went OOC with Hannibal afterward. It’s that you interpreted it wrong from the start. And that’s not the end of the world – I thought Bedelia was a good person all through S2, and I’d venture most viewers did.
2) I thought the secret to Will being able to manipulate Hannibal was to reject him. Or rather, it was pretty obvious that if Will stopped not-thinking about how Hannibal was in love with him, he would realize that he actually has a lot more power in this relationship that he’s not using. Imagine if Will actually consciously realized back in S2 that he could crush Hannibal emotionally like a bug every day if he wanted to, and Hannibal would just keep coming back because he loves it when Will plays hard to get. (Nota bene: I’m not saying I recommend that Will crush Hannibal emotionally as a daily exercise. He did it once by accident in S2 and four people bled out. I’m saying he had that hanging over Hannibal’s head the entire time and didn’t let himself know it.)
3) I said this after Digestivo: it was clear at the moment that Hannibal gives himself up that the season would fall into two elegant parts like an oyster shell. The first half of the season is Hannibal going out and getting exactly what he wants in life “bucket list” style, complete with a perfect murder wife who’s willing to participate, and giving it all up to go back to Will. The second half of the season is Will getting everything he wants in life, complete with a perfect wife and child who are as good-hearted and dog-hoarding as he could wish for, and giving it all up to go back to Hannibal.
4) I very much doubt Hannibal gives up on life, though. I think for the 2 seconds they free-fell he was like “what a beautiful and operatic way to die with Will in my arms together at last T_T<333333” and then they hit the water and he was like, “uh, no.”
#3 is such a great breakdown. love it.

Okay I'm curious: if Hannigram has been canon since late S2 for you, which moment made you realize it?
Well, it’s slow burn so there isn’t one specific moment where it became canon. But if I had to pick a moment where the narrative became undeniable, it was Will’s dream of Hannibal tied to the tree in S2. That was Will’s subconscious saying completely textually: Hannibal loves you, you love Hannibal, and that is why you have influence and power over each other. (Will then uses his influence and power to symbolically decapitate Hannibal, as you do.)
I’ll state for the record that I didn’t think Hannigram was canon in S1, nor that it was going to go in that direction. It was kind of a “slashy” friendship (nobody says that anymore, do they?), but I differentiate pretty well in my mind between “canon romance” and “not canon romance but I’d read a fic about it,” and I’m not the kind of shipper who has a burning need to see my ship sail in canon while I dance around the funeral pyre of the NOTPers. Given the choice, I actually prefer a myriad fanfics in which the characters get together a myriad ways, rather than having it set in canonical stone that it happened the one way.
With the above in mind, I started writing a huge S2 Hannigram summary like, this is just what I saw onscreen, no slash goggles or wish fulfillment factor, but I think that’s over-delivering on your question. XD;; The real takeaway is that even if you set aside the murder/violence/abuse aspect, Hannibal and Will are both weirdos, non-neurotypical (not the same thing as weirdo), have little to no practice with emotional intimacy as adults, prefer intellectual engagement to physical, and aren’t motivated by the prospect of sex with each other,** so even in the best of all worlds where no one was a serial killer, it probably would have taken them three seasons and some sort of Parent Trap gambit on Abigail’s part before they got together in that way. It was never going to be canon in the sense of “they realized they had a crush on each other in this episode, and shared a kiss in this other episode.”

AN: Post-Digestivo (spoilers up until then), takes place during next episode’s time jump (but everything to do with that time jump is pure conjecture on my part)
The parcel comes in the mail; a nondescript manila envelope that contains only a notebook filled with equations. When he thumbs through the pages an unsigned note flutters to the floor and Will knows Hannibal’s handwriting too intimately to fool himself into thinking anyone but he had written it.
“The teacup has been unbroken.”
