i only just started reading TOTCF novel after catching up with the manhwa. absolutely love the manhwa adaptation btw (the art is *chef's kiss*), but the novel is a whole other level of immersive experience for me. i feel like i could disappear for a while and binge read the whole thing lol

quick weekend color values study ft. sunday // grayscale to color

thought it would do me some good to go back to the basics since i felt like i'm having a hard time with rendering lately. i especially feel like my lighting and shadows are kinda off and my color choices are all over the place. so for this i just started out with a basic messy sketch and filled in the base tone then plotted in the lighting first before figuring out where the shadows go. as you can see on my layers window, i only have 4 key layers which are the sketch, base/mid, shadows, and lighting. after that, i duplicated the base layer and added in the flat colors then i messed with the color balance to give it a more purplish hue. nothing too detailed since it's just practice and my brain really isn't braining much since it's the weekend lol

but in all seriousness, these are the points that i would like to improve on this year so wish me luck. and if you've been following my art journey on here, thank you so much for sticking around despite my inconsistent art style. i really appreciate it!
