You're so right abt c!sbi not being family. Like there are combos I can believe but tommy and techno are not phils kids - it would makes zero sense given their canon dynamics, with technos storyline and relationship w phil and tommy is just too orphan no parents coded.
To me fanon cbedrockbros also is not real but also i do believe techno cared about tommy in a vague way or had the potential to if they'd had more time together - both of them felt equally betrayed by the other in a way that felt deeply personal, even though they were both doing what they always said they would do and following their own worldviews. Like I dont think bedrockbros would have happened ever in dsmp bc of their diametrically opposed worldviews and values but the seed of something was there.
In general tho, i think techno saw tommy more as a symbol/ someone who inspires change and helped tommy bc of his ideals more than out of care. I don't think tommy ever understood techno, and sought him out bc he was the one person who does not bow to dream and has the power to back it up.
I could talk about these two forever they captivate me and i was gonna keep going but u dont need any more of an essay in ur asks. Hope I'm not coming across as complaining u just inspired this thought in me !! mwah love ur art
i agree, i think both techno the guy and the character being erudite warped their perception of c!tommy in order to make him the āheroā of dsmp. c!techno wanted ctommy to do away with his materialism and reliance on government in favor of anarchy. his expectation of a hero is defined by players like cphil who can make difficult decisions like killing his son in the name of progress and distorting his legacy for the sake of his own ideals. ctommy is sentimental, as stated 400 million times, the discs have no real value outside of the designation of being important. heās also materialistic despite being stripped of his property over and over again, which ctechno interprets as strength on tommyās part because heās able to keep getting up after losing everything
c!techno is NOT an antagonist the same way cdream and cpunz are, heās depicted as a force of nature, an ideal, that demands respect. his grievances with ctoms comes from taking more than he can repay and being the subject of objectification, highlight āthe bladeā. in a traditional story, ctoms would take what heās learned from techno and apply it to his values, but he subverted tech and used his assets to (try to) reinstate a government in the form of new lmanburg
toms recognized techno as one of the few people who could do what he does to drm without facing intense repercussions or abuse. exile was one of the first times toms was truly alone, throughout the entire series, heād been facing adversity with ctubs or cwil by his side. he was desperate for comradery and happened to find it in the Giant Pig Beast of the Snowy North which is why i think ctechno decides to help him. he wants to play a part in molding tommy into a hero but he has no real desire to offer friendship because 1. he doesnāt befriend people he doesnāt respect and 2. he doesnāt have the same attachments as toms and fundamentally canāt understand him. ctommy is arrogant, rude, and desperate without the power to back it up, a nuisance and liability in ctechnos eyes, and he doesnāt view lmanburg as a government, but as an ideal community where he was supposed to be safe and flourish
their relationship was imbalanced, c!tommy needed empathy and hospitality as a victim and c!techno expected respect and humility from a student
