genuinely way too many people dismiss the time they spent deeping dsmp as "projecting", like the perception that the writers were just dumb youtubers who didn't know what they were writing means viewers unwittingly wasted their time reading into it, when like. either way you still learnt a valuable analytical skill of looking deeper into things, and there'll always be something to find by looking deeper into anything bc people never create anything in a vacuum, nor do they make something with substance by sheer coincidence even if they weren't fully aware of how they were doing it, nor do That Many viewers collectively find so much meaning in something that doesn't itself have substance to it. dsmp could not have been the huge cultural phenomenon that it was if it didn't Work (i strongly reject the narrative that it was hype for the ccs that drove it as a phenomenon lol, even the numbers alone said otherwise), whether the ccs intensively considered the writing decisions that made it Work or whether the improv and storytelling skills they had from their twitch/yt career worked in their favour automatically, whether they consciously intended all the themes that made it Work or whether these were things they had experienced or witnessed in their own lives or in media they liked that they channeled subconsciously, whatever. whatever you saw in it very likely IS in there somewhere, in some form….the damn thing was written by so many people with so many facets and experiences to them with so many conflicting perspectives even on just what they were creating that one of them is bound to have some perspective you identify with that they're communicating somehow, no matter how cryptically, no matter how many layers of abstraction it went through to get to you
